  1. Gamebreaker- Do you even attend UNT games? No, we don't fill Fouts every game, but the fan support is there- and getting better. The last two home games had about 22k and 17k respectively, I think that's fan support. Besides, shouldn't you be busy supporting some other team?
  2. It bugs me a lot to see great talent at RB and WR...and watch it get squandered by bad coaching. Heck, I don't like to see any of the talent on our team get squandered. It's painful, really. I don't know how someone like Dickey can cough up a 54-2 loss and be shocked that people aren't happy with it. You can't rationalize that or the loss to Troy when both games should've been wins. Don't complain about the fans when 22,000+ show up to a Saturday game, then 17,000+ show up to a Tuesday game following 2 blowout games. We're doing our part. If the fans didn't care, Fouts would've been empty before the end of the 3rd quarter against Tulsa and it would've been empty at the start of the half against Troy.
  3. I'll say yes- I'll also say that they follow the Coach's lead. If Dickey says the fans are terrible or non-existent, the players will treat us that way. I mean, we have our gripes about Dickey's program, but we're always there. I don't know what he could say about a school that supplied 17,000+ fans for a Tuesday game and averages about that amount for Saturday games. This after a blowout loss at home weeks before to a team many fans figured we could beat. Fans like to see wins. Regardless of the gameday activities, wins bring fans and vice-versa. A respectable loss won't discourage people, but a major blowout that didn't even look competitive will most certainly cost fanbase. I know that includes a lot of casual fans, but I'm sure a lot of us started off that way.
  4. Try Meager for a quarter. If he can't start to connect, then put in Phillips. There's not a whole lot to lose at this point, so any chance of improvement will be fine. It's not like we have a lot to risk by putting Phillips in, you know. We've seen Meager thus far and he hasn't improved too much. I'd figure that he'd be set by now, and if he isn't by the start of the next game, bench him. I'd rather put someone in with the chance he may be better than someone who we already know will blow it. Not to say Meager can't get better- I'd like to see him do it as he has mobility that Phillips can't dream of, which combined with passing ability could make Meager a VERY complete QB.
  5. I'm worried about the attendance loss from the kids in the dorms. Planning a game while no one is literally on campus is a really stupid thing to do. The people who live in town or live in DFW won't be hard to convince if they already love the gameday stuff, but the kids who don't live around may be hard to keep as some have 3+ hours to drive.
  6. Emmitt- you should see the ad campaign my team and I put together for the DPD as part of our advanced ad class. And- For more fun with tax dollars- there's that Anna Nicole case that's in the Supreme Court. GAWD.
  7. Looks like we really didn't lose to a bad Tulsa team this year. It's just too bad that our team has the be part of the springboard for another team's success.
  8. We can't drop Dickey...it's a money thing- But what that joker CAN do is coach and demand respect from his players! Even if the team doesn't win (they should be able to whip the rest of the Belt), they gotta look halfway respectable in a loss. The loss to Tulsa wasn't respectable, the loss to Kstate (expected as it was) wasn't respectable. The loss to Troy wasn't respectable simply because the talent to win is there. Don't lose to the SBC. Beat LaTech, or at least keep it in 14 points, and for LSU, (I can't believe I'm saying this) make sure the team fights with all it has. I don't care about the score, I just don't want to feel like the coaches didn't do all they could to win. Heck... Just coach and play to win. It's the job of the coaches anyways.
  9. Northwestern v. Wisconsin I'm a sucker for upset wins like that game. It was really pulse-pounding up to the last minute or so since Wisconsin had rallied to close a 14+ gap in the score, only to lose by 3 points after being picked off.
  10. Disappointed with the recruiting info? Yes. Suprised? No. That game along with the MTSU and the Troy game have to let everyone know that the SBC has in fact, caught up with us. We're no longer the powerhouse program in the Belt, if so, it would've been obvious against Troy. The other schools are upgrading their facilities faster, and that means they're getting better players. Meanwhile we're still staring at Fouts (which I love, but I know it has to go) and watching players walk away. The new stadium will be here, but the football coaches have to find a way to rebuild that parity that used to exist between NT and the rest of the Belt.
  11. What in the hell was the purpose of this thread? God...I want my 2 minutes back. I think next season isn't a major issue right now.
  12. NW just pulled an upset over #14 Wisconsin- 51-48. Looks like Wisconsin was gonna come back from a 14pt deficit. Forget the shootout- we all know what that's gonna come out to be. This was the real game to watch today!
  13. I feel bad for JQ- He probably feels like he has the weight of the offense on his shoulders and his statement at the press conference pretty much said that. It's like he feels that he has to be the playmaker every time he gets the ball, and that isn't the case. I really think JQ is doing his part, but I think the rest of the team has to step it up.
  14. There has to be a reason why the HSC president is leaving with the university president. Why am I worried that the reason isn't good?
  15. I'm worried about the next UNT prez...will this guy just follow the whims of whomever is leading the anti-athletics end of the school and shutdown RV and make him quit?
  16. Maxx- Be worried about our running game. Until Meager proves otherwise, it's about all you need to worry about.
  17. I agree with your statement on the D. Yeah, they allowed a lot of yards, but they prevented the points, which is ultimately what counts anyways. If the O can keep their drives going, the D can be really effective.
  18. Hey Coach Dickey- you need answer the question that Coach Fry asked in the short videoclip that amounts to this: "Why can't WE be number 1?" I think Coach Fry's philosophy of getting the team to play as if they were national champ-competitive was key. If you just tell the guys all they have to do is win the SBC, that's all they'll set out to do. If you just coach to win the SBC, that's about all that'll happen. I'm betting that the coaches behind Utah, Boise, Louisville and Michigan State aren't coaching just to win the conference games. I think Coach D needs to coach to win EVERY game.
  19. Fullback? I swear we have people at that position...I think we did...I just haven't seen them all season. Hey, didn't one of those fullbacks have a good day running allover ArkSt last season? On a serious note- a blocking fullback may help out. The RBs are hitting walls...maybe they need a nice battering ram to knock out a hole for them.
  20. I agree with changing the way the team plays. The old system only worked because none of the SBC teams had the people to stop the run and we had a QB to draw off the defense with good passing. Danny isn't a great passing QB right now, but he can move really well. Spread-Option? Option-Run?
  21. What was Danny supposed to be when the team was put together? Keep in mind the 3rd string QB statement is more than out of date as Drew Smith passed over a year ago. One would assume that there would be some sort of skill improvement as he's the only guy getting reps on the field and time in practice.
  22. For those calling for Dickey's head- 1.) Where is the buyout cash going to come from? 2.) Where is the money for the new coach going to come from? 3.) Who would be willing to come here?
  23. Even IF Byerly were still here- he barely played at all last year, even in our blowout games. I think DD knew there would be a contest for QB last year, so I figure he'd put both out during the blowout games.
  24. Maybe it's time for Dickey and Flannigan to check out the Spread-Option offense that's been so popular with schools like Boise and the big mid-major programs. I don't think that the SBC teams can handle it, and I'm betting those suckers won't see it coming. Danny's a mobile guy with great moves- an option offense lets him move and lets him get the ball to our strong point- the RBs. If he can pass to the close WRs, then he can keep the D honest and away from the line. And hey, this gives the opposition some scary things to handle if both JT and PC are on the field at the same time...as they wont know where its going and to whom. But like I said- Danny's gotta learn to be consistent with his passing game.
