Anyone get the impression Eric Pegram
meangreendork replied to WIFE2HOT4U's topic in Mean Green Football
Just his NFL experience. I'd say that being an RB at the NFL level would qualify him for RB coaching at the NCAA level, especially at the SBC football level. He probably has a lot to teach the kids as well as get them fired up for a school that tends to be RB-based. -
The I-locked NT still reads "TN". It's also the NT exes logo.
-
It's still around. Saw it near the Schrader thingy a few weeks ago. As for the ASPS- I don't know how it'd pass as a secondary mascot for our school when there are ASPS chapters at schools such as...UT. Furthermore, I don't know how threatening a little girl in a furry suit would be when facing the throng of LSU or similar-behaviored fans.

Anyone get the impression Eric Pegram
meangreendork replied to WIFE2HOT4U's topic in Mean Green Football
He's got some nice credentials, especially around RB work and recruiting. -
Some of the numbers for the DL and OL guys are unusual to see. 228? 252? 210? Not to say those guys are small, but some of the line are just a hair heavier than our RBs and some of the other linemen are the size of linebackers or DBs. While that's good for speed, it also means these guys might be knocked around in the trenches. They may have the power of bigger guys, but physics mean a lot when 250lbs runs into 350lbs. Weight room time.

It'd be great to see a consistent lead-blocker for the RB. I'm also betting Henderson has a little speed on him, too.

MP does one thing that DM doesn't do- FOLLOW THROUGH. It seems like his passing form is better, and he releases when he needs to. It looks like DM doesn't follow through with his arm and that he releases it too early/late so it goes too far and slow, or too fast and short.
-
Matt Phillips. He looked good, the WR's were shaky tonight, but he looked better than DM. He sat in the pocket, read the coverage, made the pass. BTW- #49, Jackson- he WILL be great.

ULM's band sounded terrible. They were loud, but they sounded awful. I heard them playing the same songs we did and all they did was just play louder. Their unis are nasty, and I think it's funny that they have an obese cheerleader.

I've been nailed with a tortilla. It's more a suprise than painful.

1.) Phillips was good. I like his composure and his arm. 2.) Why did they decide not to go for it with 3sec on the clock in the 1st half? 3.) The CSC are JERKS. I'm sitting with my butt on the concrete foundation of the stands with my legs sticking out, but with my upper body behind the rails. For some reason I'm not allowed to sit that way. WTF. 4.) I don't like the ULM Band. They sound awful, play loud to mask it, play the same songs as us just after or while we do just to be jerks, they play that FSU song (I dare them to play FSU at home and play that song), they have one really, really obese cheerleader, they only know like, 2 songs, which they played as the plays progressed. They were classless last time they were at Fouts and they were just bad this time around. 5.) THE FANS- I love that they were there! 19K is great for us, no matter what. I'm sorry that they showed up and had to watch that loss. Thanks to those of you who showed up at the parade and tailgating- it's just nice knowing the fans are willing to be there. 6.) The fireworks need to stop next year. Even if we won every game at home, the "cool factor" of the fireworks would be lost after the 3rd home game. I can't say how much I dislike them after EVERY loss at home.

NT AthSite; Men win over Hardin Simmons
meangreendork replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
That game was BRUTAL. If you were a Hardin-Simmons fan. -
At this point, I think the coaches need to try EVERYONE at QB to see how they react. There's nothing to lose. Well, there's not much left to lose.

6600 to 8800 LB Dually Truck on NEW TRACK?
meangreendork replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
WTF. Then again...this's the same administration that decided that they would send kids to the homecoming junk when there were 2 (count them) 2 victories on the basketball front. One of them was very close, the other was not only a win, but just total abuse of the opposition. -
No fire? No problem! I'll see you guys at the game. Besides, it's warm in there! Really though- with the Bonfire cancelled, the admin should have turned focus to the BB games.

Has DD finally cracked under the pressure?
meangreendork replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
For athletics, it's "NT" since that's what on the helmets, the jerseys and a lot of the fan gear. I dunno...the current helmet is okay, but maybe the Eagle wouldve been better or just "NT" in the font they're using now. It's hard to read "North Texas" with the way the helmets are right now. -

MOOT! You can't be serious! He can't be letting practices out early! Sweet Christ almighty, this isnt the time for that! If anything, he needs to be busting tails out there. -
---If DD left at end of season---
meangreendork replied to eulesseagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I like DeLoach! He did a fantastic job with the D and you can tell that the replacment DC wasnt as good because the defense has been weaker each year since then. I think the talent level is there, but I think DeLoach would be the right man to bring that back to speed. The thing about DeLoach's D is that still put our team in positions to win even with the weak O of that time. By producing turnovers and sacks, they gave the Drew Smith team the ability to win that NO Bowl. ----In A Fantasy World---- Mike Ditka, Joe Green, That ilk of player...some older smash 'em-in-the-jaw, blood-and-guts, old-school defense guys. If not at HC then at DC. Those guys struck fear into the hearts of the opposition. Our D at one point had other teams scared (the UT game where their QB got nailed 7 times). -
LaMonroe interesting blast of NT's football
meangreendork replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
I think Weatherbie took a shot at JT's dyslexia...that's a low blow because it didn't keep JT from scorching them on the field. But I agree- this has to be a win. I don't want to lose the homecoming game, and I don't want that (expletive) trying to rub in the loss. SOMEONE CALL SCOTT HALL AND GET HIM TO DO A PEP TALK! -

Here's the most important set of questions IF Dickey does get picked up: Who Becomes The Next Head Coach? Who Are Good Candidates? Anyone got names of other college coaches (DIAA?) or high school coaches who'd take up the NT flag? (Coach Hayden Fry or Actor Scott Bakula. Both have led our school to greatness ) -
return to IA football was 10 years ago
meangreendork replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
The school has made big steps in just the past 5 years...I wonder what it'll be like in another 10 years. New stadium with 2nd phase addons? Bigger fanbase? Conference USA membership or the improvement and upsizing of the SunBelt? Who knows. -
Phillips should start the rest of the year
meangreendork replied to stebo's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, even with the 2003 squad (as good as that D was, and as insanely killer as the DB's were) the team still had problems tackling. Arm tackles don't count and shoulder hits don't work if you don't have enough force. When I did play football, they taught me to wrap up, and as the smallest guy on the team as as a CB, that was the only way I'd be useful. I'm telling you though- I really miss Craig Jones. Seeing #22 creeping around back there gave me a certain sense of security that hasnt been there all season, especially with Jonas Buckles gone. Speaking of Buckles- Anyone remember the hit he delivered during one of the home games last season? I think it was a NMSU WR that went up for the pass- Buckles nailed the guy midair at fullspeed. The ball popped out, the WR dropped to the turf and didn't move for at least 5 seconds after that. That was a MONSTER hit. -
Catman: Unfair criticism? Basking in the glory when things are good? Oh no sir. If you're running left/right/left when your RBs (as great as they are) are getting nowhere, you should get a talking to. When you're calling a run play on 2nd or 3rd and long, you should get a talking to. When you get plastered in OOC in every game, you should get a talking to. When you continually make excuses rather than just take the responsibility of a loss, you should get a talking to. Here's the thing- I back Dickey, but I really believe he can do so much better than he has. Consequently, I believe he can also push the players to be more competitive. (*Yeah, I'd like to see Coach Fry back at NT, but I don't see it happening) And yes, we like it when the team wins. BUT- we don't take it easy on the coaches because more often than not, wins are littered with stupid penalties and very questionable playcalling. And don't take shots at these fans- A good number of the BS fans you complain about have been NT fans longer than I've been alive. There are fans who've loved this school and its athletics since the Flying Worm. Many fans have seen NT romp in DIA, fall into DIAA limbo, then climb out. They've seen NT football from empty stands and filled stands, so don't you dare call them BS fans.

Scary, huh? They reported this on 103.3 ESPN, too. I'd take aim at the TCU coach or the OSU assistants before I look at DD. He'd be a great fit and he'd be able to recruit kids for KState, but I don't know about much more than that. Maybe the fans will like him at KState more than he feels he's liked here. I'm certain that if KState pays the pony, DD will probably move to KState. So-those of us who really want that new coach, who do you look at? Let's see some names and background! -
Nah...Dickey's expressed interest in KState... But I don't think the school that's thrased him will want to hire him, especially after this year.
