  1. Aw, hell. Not his BS again. Our numbers are up- something like 40+. Don't use the ASU game as an indicator as about 1/2 of the school wasn't even in town that weekend.
  2. Powerpoint is...convenient, but sweet god, is it an eyesore. Anyways, the closing isn't a shock. Although my g/f, a New Yorker, said her old college in NY wouldn't shutdown under less than a few feet of snow or something like that.
  3. 23 Degrees in Denton. Sleet, but nothing some safe and slow driving won't take care of. I just wish I didn't see so many people in SUVs driving faster than they need to out here. 2 accidents on 35E, all spinouts from overpasses.
  4. Now why can't the powers that be get this kind of mentality? Being top tier means thinking top tier, recruiting top tier, and coaching top tier.
  5. At QB this past year: Meager, Phillips, Haynes, Ieans For RB next year: Mitchell's got speed, but to be as effective as JT, he has to be faster. I hope JT's hamstring recoups this offseason. He'll have to look at ways to keep it flexible, so yes, yoga isn't just an option, it's probably going to be really helpful in keeping that muscle loose. I hope we find that JC QB or that one of our two guys shows vast improvement.
  6. Mitchell is the size of an RB, no doubt. I like how fast that guy can be and just how hard he can hit as he punches through the line. BUT- I have to ask if you've been to any of the games, because Keronna Henderson is not at all small. He's got talent and muscle, I just wish the staff let him use it more. He didn't get many carries and he didn't even get to block much. Byerly? Give him a shot during the summer while busting his tail for grades. If he doesn't do well, then drop him and stick him somewhere else. He's a tall guy, so why not line him up at TE, LB, or ever as a speed-rush DE?
  7. Houston was a Texas homegame, really. Even if the CU fans did actually back their team, getting that many to travel almost the length of the country pretty much stacked the odds against CU. Neutral site? How about somewhere in Oklahoma, Nebraska, or any other state that isn't Texas.
  8. Wish I was a Desert Edge HS Scorpion. Some of these names are slick, and it's funny to see my old HS, Killeen, listed with these other schools. Here are some of my faves from that list: Chillicothe: Unioto - Sherman Tanks Travelers Rest - Devil Dogs Barnwell - Warhorses New Riegel - Blue Jackets Tarrytown: Sleepy Hollow - Headless Horsemen Kailua - Surfriders Delphi - Oracles
  9. Most of us aren't, either. With a SunBelt sending a 6-5 or 5-6 team to a bowl game as its representative, the Belt is just awful.
  10. DD bringing in a JC QB isn't such a bad idea if the OL comes together and the new guy can learn the system. BUT- I'd go ahead and say that both Matt and Daniel should be given an even shot at the starting job. Both have potential (I still vote Matt) and they should get a shot at starting.
  11. Not that this would happen, but I go for the CUSA membership provided that the team would be competitive enough for CUSA. In other words, a team that would post a .5+ percentage during the season.
  12. I've seen them- those're the same kids who go to TxState but wear a crapload of UT stuff or the girls that go here but mom and dad couldn't "Pony Up" the cash for SMU, so they trash talk the school they are at only because they didn't have the brains to make it to the school they wanted to go to. (The way UT is now, it really IS that hard to get in.)
  13. Well, at least the marks are effective, but they're worthless without marketing and the draw of the football program. Football draws a lot of people in, and that's always a good thing. Here's hoping the football team gets much stronger for next fall. Read rcade's comment about the comm design majors- Eric's a sharp prof, but he's really a typographer at heart. He really sinks his teeth into all of the intricacies of letterforms and all that, so don't let him cast that image over all of us
  14. Dunham, just the like the rest of the UNT fandom is just hot-headed over this year's performance. Trust me, I hear lots of students yelling the same things at the coaching staff about playcalling, formations, player subs, etc.
  15. The kid telling us to go back to D-1AA refers to UNT like he doesn't go here. So he's either NOT a fan of NT athletics while being a student here (jerk) or he's some student from another school with a major NT grudge.
  16. When that selector switch is set to "Auto", remember to think "sonuvab***h" to keep good sets of 3-4 round bursts. That's how I was taught.
  17. I think that ATTENDING THE GAMES should be required of a student covering sports.
  18. While I don't completely agree with the other article that aims at the coaches, the writer definitely has good points. I think he's right that we could have and should have won those games, but poor coaching left us behind.
  19. At least this guy knows something about football. I don't completely agree, but I think the coaching staff has lots of introspection to do this offseason. Losing the first few games from inexperience is fine. Losing the other 6 or 7 isn't.
  20. Feel free to comment on that hack's article. I did, but I don't know how far it'll get since has to pass the eyes of the NTD's 'moderator'. It's like they found someone with no knowledge of football, that hasn't been a home game, then bribed him and gave him 1/2 of the truth.
  21. Did someone pay this moron? I can't believe this crap, I really can't.
  22. I fully agree that the talent is in this team to be more than it was. I fully believe that next year's recruits will also have the ability to go at least 8-3 (or the equivalent, I don't know our new sched by heart). I don't know if Dickey will lead them to that. I think that if he digs deep that he can and will, but I don't think he'll push himself that far.
  23. Bloody thing was rigged. Or badly assembled, at best. Don't get me wrong, I think academics are of top importance, but right behind...almost right on the butt of academics are athletics. Why? Athletics provides two really important things for the school: Publicity and Revenue. Academics is fine, but we're not a private school, so in order to get the funds to really scale it up and bring in kids, a great way to get attention is TV time with athletics. Basically said, it's assumed that a school with good athletics is also strong in academics. Many college athletes don't go professional, so they know that a school that's strong with their degree. Athletics and Academics go hand-in-hand, so there's no reason why athletics should be just dropped by the wayside. We know UNT can get by as an academics school. It's got more than the needed potential to become a school that has power in athletics and academics.
  24. The stAte logo is unique. I'd vote for that bad-boy. Best of luck in the bowl!
