  1. No, just the expectations of the higher-ups in the admin. The fans expectations of the last few seasons have been something like: Win the SBC, win the NOBowl, win at least 1 of the OOC games. Needless to say, the expectations have rarely been met, if ever.
  2. Dickey's not going anywhere this season. While I'm not at all impressed with the beatings our team takes in OOC games, the higher-ups won't get rid of Dickey this year. I'm guessing that he would have to serve up another 2-9 season before they toss him. However, I feel that DD is a good man and that this last season shook him into action and that he's preparing a strong team for next fall. He should, as his job may depend on it.
  3. If Fouts was named after that RE company (it isn't), it sounds a lot better than "Movie Gallery Stadium", or "Gallery Furniture Field" or any other random company name inserted. If the company name had a person's last name, that'd make it easier to stomach, but to be honest, if we had to sell off to get the stadium built, it'd be fine with it.
  4. The Denton store is doing a good job too. It would even seem that people are buying the "Son of Worm" hats simply based on how cool the eagle looks. TAKE THAT, STUPID LONGHORN!
  5. It speeds things up, but I have to say I don't know about watching a game at "Gallery Furniture Stadium"
  6. He's got an opportunity to nail the national champs again. This time, UT and not OU. As for the 88 game, I guess you'd have to see the players on each team to see what the matchups were. Maybe someone from around that time knows the height/weight matchups at each position to see if maybe that had something to do with it. It also may have been a matter of coaching, and if so, here's where Dickey really shows us his stuff.
  7. "For us to take someone else into the conference, they would have to bring a bunch to the table, such as the ability to go deep in the basketball tournament or play in a BCS Bowl Game." The basketball scenario is more likely. It's easier to get into the NCAA tourneys but really difficult to break into BCS games. It's the truth about the tournament system and that in the BCS, the "have-nots" tend to continue to "have-not". Furthermore, if that's the case, I hope he's not applying the same rule to the existing SBC schools.
  8. While I understand that going past 3-star recruits is a risk, the staff could make it a point to chase down at least one or two 4-star recruits at key positions that have immediate need while going after the 2-3-star recruits at those positions. You never know, being able to play early could be a big draw. I'm also seeing that in terms of NFL recruiting, it doesn't really matter what conference you play at as long as you perform very, very well.
  9. A 12-0 UNT could go BCS bowling. Swatting UT and beating Tulsa (who're both tops in their leagues) would do that. The only concern is Tulsa in a very volatile CUSA. I'm not worried about OU; Bomar is inconsistent.
  10. IP eagle: Vs. #1 OU: -We were 9-3 that year or the year before. -OU was nowhere as good as UT is now. -The following year, we also had a good season. Vs. #1 UT: -We were 2-9 last year. -UT is better, by far and in comparison to OU, it actually earned and really proved it deserved the NCAA championship title. -We still have questions at key positions, especially at QB and on both Lines.
  11. Even now, Kathy Ireland gives me the girl-jitters and tingles.
  12. I really am, but you should read how people are swearing that game is going bring publicity and press for our team. Only if its carried on FSW, and if it does, it'll be a really mean broadcast. I'm really hoping it isnt televised unless NT pulls a big upset.
  13. The odds of FSW taking it are good. The results from showing the game are AWFUL. I don't really see how any of you think it's good that we play the national champs next year from a publicity standpoint. Frankly, we might as well not get publicity as I can tell you right now, that anything about NT in the broadcast will either be condescending or just plain mean. FSW is the lapdog of the BigXII, we all know that for a fact. We'll hear: 1.) Anti-SBC talk. It's bad enough our league gets slapped around, but now we have idiot officials who are too slow to ref "real football". 2.) How the 2006 team went 2-9 last fall and how the 8-4 team that went 77 or something at the last NT/UT meeting was far better than the team going against UT now. 3.) That the UNT hype this fall was all for nothing. 4.) And probably some snide-a$$ remark about how the SBC teams should possibly go back to I-AA. That sounds mean, but it's FSW. The BigXII practically owns them. Heck, any media outlet that carries or mentions the game will undoubtedly mention how the 2004 Longhorns were far better than our team back then, and that the UT team now is FAR better than that Longhorn team, etc. etc. I'm really, really hoping for an upset game. I'm hoping that DD has his lucid moments in coaching that game, and coach to win, not to avoid injuries or whatever. If that game gets TV time and any sort of media attention, we'll be laughed at by the nation unless the media outlets downplay NT being there, or UNLESS WE WIN. Anything else short of a stellar game is going to make our school a joke of D1 football.
  14. Okay, just because people hear "North Texas" in the media doesn't mean it's a good thing. It was bad enough that our team was trampled last time they played, and it's even worse now that UT has that stupid glass football to show off. Yeah, we play the national champs, but DD's going to have to dig very deep and REALLY coach in order to give UT a fight. Or, RV can pull the clipboard away and really get working.
  15. I don't like UT. I do know that they played an outstanding game last night, and that the officiating cut breaks for both schools. I also think that if UT plays next season with the same fervor they played USC, they may very well have another ring to wear at the end of bowl season in 2007. This year though, the stars basically aligned themselves for Texas, and they proved they deserved that title. We know OU will be a little stronger and that the SEC will be at UT's heels, but the team looks like it's the real deal. As for USC, J.D. Booty looks like he's going to be a great QB and USC's got plenty of skilled kids to put on the field. Let's look at them still being in the top 5 next season, maybe even calling a rematch on UT.
  16. Franklin @ DB if he has the speed and hands?
  17. It was a bad performance...I've seen better. I see it every home game. The Green Brigade is awesome, even on their off days!
  18. Ah, heck. Now our guys play the national champs...here's to our guys giving them one serious fight at DKR. For those saying we'll get media attention for the UT/NT game: just what kind of media attention? I don't really think anyone cares, and if they do, they're going to expect UT to walk all over our beloved Mean Green! And Pete Carroll- WHY didn't you review that Vince Young lateral TD? He had knee contact! KNEE CONTACT!
  19. Hey, be nice to those without certain appendages. I saw a spot on ESPN about a HS DLineman who has no legs, but he's SO quick and gets in on a lot of hits. And yeah, we might as well get the kid if we can. We have JT, we're probably getting his brother, and we have good RB's right now, but anything can happen, and a player with that size and speed can be placed just about anywhere he likes.
  20. I vote USC. It's bad enough that we have to send our team to the jaws of the lions at DKR, it'll be even worse if UT walks away with that glass football at the end of this game. Besides, I might live in Texas, but the only Texas school I stand behind is the one I'm enrolled with. All bets are off for everyone else.
  21. How about another CUSA team? What better way to show we belong than being able to beat their teams on a regular basis- and this starts on that.
  22. Wasnt Ruffin a DB or WR for Troy?
  23. Well, at least he's turned himself in. After watching the Ohio State game.
  24. Yeah, I've seen those at the Denton store! I really like the white/gray one and white/green isn't bad either.
  25. That's some serious speed.
