  1. I wish I could get my doctor to agree to use my weight from my check-in as an incoming freshman!
  2. I believe I am correct in stating that athletic scholarships cannot be distributed to players that have no remaining eligibility past the current school year, i.e. fall sports player can still receive funds in the spring, but not the next fall if they would have no eligibility remaining. A redshirt year and four years of play would provide 5 years of scholarship support. I am searching my NCAA compliance book at the moment for the exact rule and wording... I may be thinking of something else however.
  3. On second thought, I think Dodge should open practice to reporters. Then we can save the money NT would normally spend on tackling dummies.
  4. If Dodge wins, they will be fighting each other for that 30 minutes. Payne better enjoy it while he can - the success of North Texas football will depend very little on the Denton Retched Chronicle.
  5. Here are the Sunbelt schools - all schools since it is a basketball type list. Rank is overall among 331 schools Rk Athl. Exp (2006) School Location 98 $19,012,760 Denver Denver, CO 120 $16,081,045 Western Kentucky Bowling Green, KY 127 $15,267,192 Middle Tennessee State Murfreesboro, TN 129 $15,151,290 Florida International Miami, FL 139 $13,878,077 North Texas Denton, TX 144 $13,266,959 Florida Atlantic Boca Raton, FL 158 $12,030,129 Troy Troy, AL 186 $10,083,426 Arkansas State Jonesboro, AR 199 $9,468,861 Arkansas-Little Rock North Little Rock, AR 233 $8,033,380 Louisiana-Lafayette Lafayette, LA 252 $7,378,139 South Alabama Mobile, AL 256 $7,191,179 Louisiana-Monroe Monroe, LA 315 $4,556,611 New Orleans New Orleans, LA
  6. http://store.uhaul.com/product_detail.aspx?id=730 1) Biodegradable 2) Soft and you can't throw one hard enough to hurt anyone 3) Would be somewhat visable to TV cameras 4) I don't think anyone else is doing it 5) I believe they are available in green - at least they are considered green
  7. Here is what is truly amazing. There are over 300 Div III teams with football programs. And they have a playoff. With an undisputed champion. I am done now. With my short semi-sentences.
  8. Didn't Spencer kick off some last year?
  9. I thought Portland State's Viking logo was one of the best out there - I bought a shirt with it on it when I was there for a conference a few years back. BTW - PSUs colors are green and silver.
  10. Section F, row 16, seats 3-6.
  11. The unis looked really sharp. My wife really liked the all white uni - she said the piping made it look really sharp.
  12. I think most of the Sunbelt teams in the western half of the conference are closer than SMU's USA opponents.
  13. I think the reason the shirts are black and white is a direct result of the shade of green we use. I just looked thru an Eastbay football catalog and shoes are the only UA item available in our current shade of green.
  14. Just ask them what the salary cap number is for their football team.
  15. Post of the day!!! It combines our two greatest concerns - uniforms and QBs!
  16. The North Texas font is called collegiate (or some variation there of) and is used on the merchandise of ALL colleges and universities. Someone at the bookstore told me about this last year. Every school in the country uses this default font for that arch looking text. That being said, there is absolutely no excuse for the Mean Green text and the color of the shirt.
  17. They are looking just like Texas Tech's new unis, but Tech went with all red pants with a black stripe and panel.
  18. Well, somebody needs to actually show up at that office first and do some work before they can kick them out.
  19. Most of the Big XII is not happy with their "token" private school. Most members wanted state schools at the outset.
  20. Funny exchange in the thread: The next reply from an SMU fan: That just made me smile.
  21. The successful businesses will continue to thrive in new locations. They were given the option to take up quarters in the new buildings and turned it down so a rent increase was apparently out of the question. I believe that most of the students that live on and around campus (esp. those without cars) will benefit from the CVS and the other stores. Having a drug store (based on CBL comments on cops - I need to point out a drug store of the legal variety for that user's benefit) for scripts and other medications will be a good thing. Nice to see that generalizations are out of bounds for some but fair game to those that don't appreciate them. Hmm?
  22. If you want to see a real interesting state funding dynamic at work, look at the first two maps. You will notice that the lines for any type of expansion would require the removal of Fouts field to some degree. Anything that TxDot has to tear down, they have to pay for - unless it is already slated for demolition. The world's most expensive game of chicken? I-35 expansion announcement vs the announcement of a new UNT stadium and the subsequent destruction of Fouts. Bet number 1: the Murchison which was built in the "planned" right of way. TxDot fussed, but since they had not officially filed the plans, UNT could do what they wanted. Any new highway widening will likely require the Murchison to be torn down.
  23. That's the thing that sucks about captitalism. Until the city decides to get it right and start buying property and building their own businesses, we are going to be stuck with this type of stuff.
  24. ESPN released its first section (101 to 119) of their football rankings. EDIT: TO clarify, this is for the last decade. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2942242 North Texas is not listed - Baylor, SMU, La-La, and Arkansas State are listed in the first section.
