  1. http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/oregonian....xml&coll=7 Portland State athletic director Torre Chisholm said that 30 players and three assistant coaches had money and other personal items stolen from the Vikings' locker room during Saturday's 35-24 victory over Sacramento State at PGE Park. A spokesperson for the Portland Police Bureau said Monday afternoon that officers were gathering details of the incident and had not calculated an estimated value of the lost items, which included wallets, cell phones and personal music players. Any theft exceeding $750 would constitute a felony. Chisholm said he hopes that between PGE Park's insurance and the NCAA's special assistance fund players and coaches can get reimbursed. He said the Vikings are working with stadium officials to improve locker room security before PSU's next home game on Oct. 6 against Northern Arizona. "Obviously, we're disappointed, especially after a big win," Chisholm said. "The players handled it exceedingly well. I mean, they were obviously initially upset, but then realized these things happen. So, I'm hoping they didn't let it dampen their spirits too much." PSU coach Jerry Glanville said the Vikings went "from the ultimate joy to disaster in a minute when we found out what happened." Glanville said some of the players and coaches were scrambling Monday, trying to replace driver's licenses and other forms of identification before Friday when the Vikings are scheduled to fly to San Diego for Saturday's game against San Diego State. "To get on an airplane, you've got to have an ID," Glanville said. "The coaching staff not being able to get on the plane may help us. But the players need to get on." Big Sky honors: Vikings quarterback Brian White and linebacker Jordan Senn were named the Big Sky Conference's offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for their performances in Saturday's victory over the Hornets. White, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound senior, completed 26 of 37 passes for 363 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for another score in his second start for the Vikings. White's 363 passing yards were the most by a Big Sky quarterback this season, and the most by a PSU quarterback since Joe Wiser threw for 392 yards against Nicholls State in 2003. Senn, a 5-11, 225-pound senior, had a game-high 11 tackles and sealed the Vikings' first victory under Glanville when he intercepted a pass and returned it 76 yards for a touchdown with 30 seconds remaining. It was Senn's fourth career interception, and the first touchdown in 35 career games with PSU.
  2. I predict .... a lot of scoring!!! This should be fun!
  3. Checking out the statistical summary after the weekend games. Statistical oddity: our defense got worse even though we didn't play! Probably due to more evenly balance games and some conference games, but we are 119th in Pass Efficency Defense, Total Defense, and Scoring Defense. It is said football has 3 areas and you need to win two of them to have a good chance of winning: offense, defense, and special teams. Offense - area and national ranking: Rushing Offense - 118th Passing Offense - 3rd Total Offense - 40th Scoring Offense - 91st Defense Rushing Defense - 104th Pass Efficiency Defense - 119th Total Defense - 119th Scoring Defense - 119th Special teams Net Punting - 22nd Punt Returns - 109th (ugly stat - NT is average 2.5 yards per punt return) Kickoff Returns - 116th (another ugly number - 15.5 yards per return) I know the OU game greatly affected these numbers, but I hope the defense and return numbers start to look better in hurry! http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/2007/Internet/r...7000000497.HTML
  4. Somebody mentioned this yesterday while we were discussing BcS grip on the money and this restriction in moving teams up to D-1A. There are currently 65 teams in BCS conferences. Notre Dame in an indy, but powerful enough to push their way in so not counted in the 65. With Western Kentucky, there would be 120 teams in D-1A. That means there are 55 teams left out of the BcS. Those 55 teams have already become powerful enough to squeeze out 2 possible spots in BCS bowls, which costs the BCS teams alot of money and put the money in the hands of "outsiders". So what happens when there 11 more D-1A teams added? You have more teams outside the BcS than on the inside. A simple majority at the NCAA conventions, which means that the BcS has to give more up in terms of $$$, or *gasp* be forced to listen to proposal about playoffs. So BcS pushes a moratorium on new schools to slow down the process. I thought it was an interesting theory and probably has alot of validity.
  5. The SMU play by play team is awful. I listened to part of the TT-SMU game and spent most of my time laughing the play by play. Denison High School has a better play by play team and I think those two guys are volunteers!
  6. Here's another way. This link is for the final 2006 stats: http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/natlRank.jsp?ye...=4&site=org See where the year is (2006)? Change it to year you are looking for. I know it works for 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007. That is all I tried.
  7. Marshall has a lot of problems with their mascot. I went to college there and was a football official for a while. I did a scrimmage for them one time and they had helmet stickers that looked just like longhorns. They were gone by the first game and replaced with a captial "M".
  8. I think the point in mentioning it is to point out that there is a game in the works and not an open date available for scheduling SMU.
  9. "Rock the hose"? I'm not sure I'm familiar with that expression. Is that like "loosing 21-14"?
  10. I didn't get to make it to the SMU game on Saturday, but I did see the pictures. THE BAND LOOKED GREAT IN GREEN T-SHIRTS!!!! I was critical of the white shirts and the shorts not really matching, but with the green shirts the shorts don't seem like such a big deal. Major kudos to you and the band. I'm sure they sounded great as usual - never an issue there!!!
  11. Looking at that QB list, I see Sam Bradford, the OU QB. He threw 3 TDs against us - he torched Miami for 5! Not bad.
  12. This is starting to sound like "The Count" portion of Sesame Street....
  13. From the NCAA D1 stats info: http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/2007/Internet/r...7000000497.HTML 3rd in passing offense 33rd in overall offense Now for the other side of the coin: 117th in total defense and 119th in scoring defense. That's out of 119 teams.
  14. Timeout NT. 6 seconds on the play clock and Meager takes time out. How do you do that in a no huddle offense?
  15. Sorry Bean! You do play by play for the 3rd quarter. I'll do scores and color commentary!
  16. Just heard at the half score.... UT - 0, TCU - 10.
  17. SMU will have to punt from NT's 43. Downed at NTs 4 yard line.
  18. Meager with 157 yards, 2 TDs passing.
  19. Div 1-A is known as the Football BS. Even Div-3 has a playoff with over 300 teams in the division. They play a 10 game season, then have playoffs and are done before Christmas. And they manage to do it with 21 conferences. http://www.d3football.com/faq.php?answer&a...ayoffs&id=4
  20. What is the Ticket? I normally listen to sports radio and the only one in DFW is ESPN 103.3. Is there another?
  21. Ahh, the Mean Green sounds like a prison team is almost too hard to pass up responding to on their board. Of course, SMU's prison team just got their team the death penalty and for the last 20 years killed their chance of being any good.
  22. I'm with you on waiting. I'm thinking about emailing RV and asking about replicas. He seemed to indicate at the cookout that replicas would be available. Makes me wonder if meangreengear.com has dropped the ball on this one.
  23. OT - try again. Your link is telling me I am not logged in.
  24. Even better! Read the description underneath the jersey on meangreengear.com "No longer do you need to search the internet for cheap imitations! These royal and gold nylon mesh jerseys are exactly what you've been looking for. We have youth jerseys and adult jerseys. You can even personalize a jersey with your choice of name and number. So jump on line, log in and purchase yours today! " No one can figure out what color we are using!!!
  25. We would have been so much better off with Jim Harbaugh instead of TD. Stanford was better than us in defense!!! They were #113 and we were #115! *The previous statements were SARCASM* I am sure we will move up. We were 96th in total offense so we are already better there than last year!!!
