  1. I took my oldest daughter to OSU this weekend for a campus visit. Earthquakes were uncomfortable. Game was awesome. The band and announcer has quite a pregame intro, really works the crowd into a frenzy before the team comes out. Great orchestrated chants on both sides of the stadium. Record attendance of 59,000.
  2. We bought 40 tickets for our reunion on Wednesday. We got section 102. another 40 got their own tickets.
  3. OK, I have tried to get some of my old fraternity brothers out for the Indiana game. Most of these guys have not been to a game for a long time. Some maybe since early 80's. So this is a great chance for me to see some old friends and do my part in bringing back some alums to see what our program is doing. I live in the Houston area but most of these guys are in Dallas. So far I have 80 people coming and hope for a great day and a good game to impress. I went to the Houston and was impressed with the hill. We are a few old guys but still want to be around the buzz but certainly too old to be with actives and we have families if you know what I mean. So somewhere in that area but far enough away that we can play our clasic rock from the 70 and 80 without hearing any rap. Hey, we got our own atmoshere to create. I am going to have Metzgers BBQ and just set up some tents. I do not want to cook for tht many or have them cook. The plan is for them to show up and just have a fun and relaxing time. Metzgers is doing 10.00 a head including a few beers each. I will bring some pop ups but may need to rent one big one with some tables and chairs. open to any ideas to make this an optimum experiance. not sure what to do about bathrooms after 4:30. We will not be able to get into the pavillion this week. Walk the kids over to Victory?
  4. Proud of you guys for an idea like this. I will stop by with a few old brothers this weekend. I am heading in from Houston later today. Beta Theta Ray Parrish
  5. I just got an i phone and am over 50 so I am not in tune as need to be. I have to work a high school event tonight for the booser club. What is the best way for me to keep track of the game while having to be away from tv tonight?
  6. I do not know how to link so if someone can go to Yahoo sports and look for this story.
  7. I am not sure how a sell out would be determined when you have a student section that gets in without tickets. How will we be able to determine how many seats can the school sell? Any idea how well Houston is buying up their allotment? How many seats did we give them?
  8. I forgot about Charco Broiler. I ate a ton of chicken fried steaks there one summer. thanks for the memory.
  9. At times Crossroads had some good bands there. every town needs a place to go listen to local bands. anyone old enough to remember The Library?
  10. I was thinking about Nemos, Mamas Pizza and the Pick Up. But those days are long gone...
  11. We had a good turn out for the happy hour. RV came and got t meet everyione. ONe of the brothers is working on securing a semi truck that has been converted into a huge grill. More details as we get them, but hoping for a great family outing.

  12. You coming to the happy hour on Tuesday. RV and coach supposesd to stop by. Mi Cocinas at 5:30, Frnkford and Toll

  16. I wanted to let you guys know that Coach and RV are going to stop by our happy hour next week as we plan for the tailgate event. it will be great to meeet Coach. curious to see if he gets a spark lit under my old buddies who are unassociated with the program as it has been. Good opportunity to grouw our support and let others see that this administration is serious about athletics.
  17. Fiding three of you that quick is great. Our event will be geared towards family of course with our age. I plan on bring my family of five. But certainly will drink a beer with everyone and of course sing Drink Beer. RV is aware of the plans and is offering any help he can give. We picked the Indiana game so as to better understand the new logistics of tailgating and was thinking the opening game will be a mad house (hopefully). I also plan to drive in from the Houston area for the Houston game. I will stop by the tent to meet you guys that day. Stan, we are planning a happy hour this month on the 26th at Mi Cocinas at Frankfort and the Tollway. Ray
  18. I have noticed several guys who post with Sig Ep logos attached. I want to connect with you guys and let you know about an event I am planning for the Indiana game. My goal is to spearhead an event that will bring some of the old alumni like myself (79-84)out to a game at the new stadium. We have had a good quick response and are expecting at a minimum around 100. These are guys who have not been to game in a long time. I hope seeing the new stadium and tailgate set up may lead to some of this crew making this a new tradition for us. I certainly want to get our area along side or close to the current brothers for some interaction. Would any of you guys like to coop this with another era of your buddies? This type of thing could be a blast if we could get someone like Rudy's to cater and find some activities to do together. Some of the guys on this board probably have some great tailgate ideas to share. To me it is game day stuff like this that will assist our program in gettng the support it needs. Since the tailgate scene has been started I have believed that this was what was needed to bring back old alums that remember games being a lukewarm event. The past was certainly nothing that would get you to bring your family up for an entire Saturday evening. Of course unless you were already a die hard fan. As fans we all have talked about us dragging others to a game with us but this I am hoping to spark interest from several who will see this as a great way to spend an afternoon at our game instead of watching others on tv and wishing we were that type of school. A school that supports its teams and provides a great venue and game day experiance.
  19. Great to see the alums connect to the athletic department. We (Sig Eps) were very involved with the football program back in the late 70's. Ray Parrish Beta Theta
  20. I just took my 16 year old daughter to Rush here in The Woodlands a while back. Geddy had a little hard time with the high notes ( he is close to 60) but they rocked. Great musicians. I used to crank it up from the Sig Ep porch when were located on Ave. C in the old days.
  21. I know there where a few of us at the game in Houston this year. TSU had a horrible record until they got into conference play. They did look good to me as they were stocked with some Div 1 transfers. But we controlled taht game and dominated on the boards. Anyone else think it is strange they got in.
  22. Hope someone can link to the huge article in today's paper on Johnny. Great start to my morning. Long time overdue but shocked it is in the Houston paper.
  23. I like your avatar...
  24. I had a good laugh out loud on that one. I still love that movie.
  25. Tony Worrell had a great reverse slam. His wing span was tremendous.
