BB recruits for visits this weekend
kingwoodgreen replied to NT03's topic in UNT Basketball Recruiting
Josh has not been playing for kingwood high, not sure what the issues are. Kingwood coach is one of the most successfull in state. He does not put up with any crap. Have to wonder why josh has not been on the team in the past. I have seen him attending games in the past. -

Hotel and Conference Center "Deal in the Works"
kingwoodgreen replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Football
if the convention center is to be built near the stadium then it would be great if this was taken into consideration as far as the layout. I think the "hill" area makes our pregame experiance rather unique. And having amenities that are condusive to the gameday atmosphere is a real plus for us attracting our fair weather fans. And that is what we have to a degree. I would like to see the design of the hotel/restuarant/bar be to where it is part of the stadium grounds to a degree. Certainly to where spending the weekend at the hotel and walking out to the tailgate experiance is a natural. Sure they would sell out the hotel on game weekends. -
Will We Play Belt Schools In OC Games After Our Move ?
kingwoodgreen replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I thought the Indiana game was a great game for us. It helped me get some ho hum alums to game by playing a big 10 team. I also like that we have Iowa in the future. Also like to see us at home with teams like; Ole miss Vanderbilt Utah ( my daughter is going there ) Kansas Iowa state Any sunbelt team except for ulm Northwestern Clemson Memphis South Florida Not sure if home and homes or 2 for 1 is possible for some of these but trying be somewhat realistic -
if I could get a local hotel in which a friend owns in the Kingwood area to provide a special rate, I would consider hosting a happy hour on Friday night at the house or Saturday morning pre tailgate pick me ups.

April 27-20 GASO Shootout Schedule and info
kingwoodgreen replied to GreenBat's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Tasty, Hunter is a good kid and will be a senior at Kingwood High. His parents and I are on the booster club together. I will get to see him play alot next season (my son plays on the sophomore team). he was injured some of last year so it was a hard season for him. -
There was an article last week in the Houston Chronicle regarding Kyle Field renovation. The quote from that article that got my attention was from their President. "Our football weekends will provide us with a key vehicle for introducing people around the couontry to Texas A&M." I like this relection on how sports can enhance and promote an institution. It seems as if our school finally gets the understanding of this type of marketing and alumni retention. To me this is what we have been missing for some time. RV gets it but we needed a president to not only understand this but get on board and make this a catch up priority. I understand sports should not be a priority for a college but we are making up for years of leadership that discounted a philosophy that many other schools embraced. And thus we were stuck in limbo for quite a while. While some damage has been done we are at least coming out of the cave. The few of us old guys that have still hung around with interest see the hope that is out there for us. The new stadium was huge. My experiance at the Indiana game with my old buddies was priceless. Great friends, tailgatiang in the shade of a new stadium and playing (and beating) a big 10 team. I too was disappointed in attendance. I would have never thought we would not have sold out the Houston game. I am still bothered by that but have hope that a plan to fill the stadium will come and a change in conferance will assist us in more regional rivalries and interest. People left our game day experiance (old alums or visitors) impressed with what we have done at North Texas. We need to continue to steam roll ahead and keep introducing people around the county to The University of North Texas.

Greatest High School Running Back You Ever Saw Play?
kingwoodgreen replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
Grew up in garland during those years. Played against hercules in many sports, great athlete and speedster. Garland high had some talent back then. But in 79 I drove down to Houston to see Plano and Stratford play in state championship game. Craig James was a great running back that year and in that game. -

about another 15,000 per year. Their in state rates are very reasonable. I just thought it was neat that Utah had sports marketed all over campus. Everywhere yoiu went you were reminded about the programs and the conference. The cafeterias were full of sports stuff. ESPN rated their sports club number one. I believe it is called the MUSS. For 35.00 you get ashirt, tickets to every game and free food at the pre game tailgate. There is a list of cheers and rules for how the grouip cheers during t he game. It is huge and very cool and explained in detail on our pre tour meeting and presentation.

thanks, she has applied ther also. Supposed to be a great town, Fort Collins.

I just ran across an article in which the mac added umass for football only. they just balanced their schedule. I was always concerned they may have taken in wky. on another note I just got back from taking my oldest daughter to see the Univ. of Utah. One thing I noticed as we were on our tour of campus is how many signs in buildings were promoting sports and the Pac12. Maybe it was because of the recent move but they were all over in every building. Talked to several fans who also commented on how they can no longer go to away games due to distance. Boulder is the closet. They are used to going to BYU (rival) and the likes of vegas and reno. They did well in the mwc but will suffer in the Pac 12 but sure they will get shown the money. Campus was big, football stadium is huge and nice. Dorms are the athletic village from 2002 Olympics so no old ones at all. We are not mormon but 40% of campus is which is a low % for Utah areas. Very laid back skier type of campus which is what she wants. She wants to go to Boulder but Dad says no to high costs and huge party school.
