  1. smu attendance from a "big east" football game last night was 16,497.
  2. Just talked to a friend of my daughter who said the students are allowed to go on he field to mix with the players following a Clemson game. Tradition he says
  3. One year removed from our game with the Hoosiers; this year they lost to mich state by 4 and last week to Ohio state by 3. They are not a horrible team.
  4. Yes, my son told me yesterday. His dad told me recently it was going to be a small school in Kansas. Hunter has been in coach's doghouse for some time at kingwood. Did not start or play much last year. A workhorse of a player. Josh may end up same scenario.
  5. I brought my family and two friends to the game. My wife and girls were entertained by the band. The director is actually pretty funny with his comments during the game. I can tell you that the sprit was high considering we were getting drilled by their offense. At least we had some exciting plays and until midway through the 3rd it looked like we had some kind of chance. That drive right ater the half gave me some hope. I am in agreeement with some here on why we stoped running around the end since they had the box stacked. Their stadium was is not much better than fouts. Concessins were a joke. That area of campus feels like a concrete city to me. Sure they will get something nice for the new design. North Texas is a much nicer campus.
  6. Stan, are you coming to Houston for the game. I will try and get some brothers out for some tailgating possibley. There are a few eps in Houston. Ray
  7. For those that do not know Kingwood is just north of Houston so I will be bringing 7. My daughter who is a freshman at Utah is flying in for their fall break and is drivig straight from Hobby as she knows her Dad will not miss the game. Since most of you are driving in from Dallas I would like to be a good host. When I come to Dallas it is hard for me to bring most of the stuff to tailgate well. I stay with my sister or parents and drive up, eat at the sub hub ( ate there alot in late 70's ) and just walk the hill prior to game. So, I have some extra pop up if anyone needs me to bring for the day. I realize we are having a tailgate for the game via the school but would lile to add to the experiance. Not sure where they are setting up or even if I could set up close by also. May have to find a spot among the enemy. my ideas and thoughts; * find a spot and get a low key football game, horseshoes or something going on * if enough are interested I could change my lunch plans to brunch and do some breakfast foods and try some crepes for a little style * or just see what the UNT tailgate is serving and add some appetizers or special cold drinks if allowed kind of open for any ideas just trying to keep the spirit going and stake some territory for the good guys
  8. We entered on the student side and experienced the scan issue. Not sure they scanned us as the guy gave up and let us in.
  9. If he does not reply let me know, I may try to take my dad to game while I am in town
  10. Driving up from kingwood. Bring my son, nephew and brother in law.
  11. I may host a brunch for gameday in kingwood. Let me know if enough people want to drive this way I will put something together with some Pre game drinks
  12. Speaking of the "U", that is what they call the University of Utah. My oldest daughter is a freshman there. She was at the BYU rival game last night that had a crazy ending. She called me in Houston at 1:00 am. I woke up thinking what is wrong, my nightmare is for something to happen to her and I am so far away. She blurts out something about being on the field and what a great ending to the game. I was relieved yet happy for her to have such a great memory of a great college game. if you watched the game or have seen video, due to the students (Muss) and players rushing the field after a blocked field goal at the end , BYU got another shot and because of the penalty another 15 yards closer to the 36. Well after much confusion and time to get the fans off the field and the next attempt hit the crossbar and missed. Fans go crazy again. If you are not aware of the Muss (mighty utah student section) is has been rated by espn as top student fan section. I had never heard of them till she went there. You have to join (limited #) for like 10.00. That includes a t-shirt and all tailgate grub for each home game. Very organized and sounds like a great idea. Fraternities and Sororities are not big at Utah. Last night she texted me a pic of a script that was handed out to all muss. At one point prior to game they united to make a mass of a "red sea". At one point a utah fan dressed up as BYU mascot ran into the crowd. The red sea parted and then the group submerged on the mascot for a Moses experiance. Very scripted pre game event to pump up the crowd.
  13. Back to Josh, I will give reports this season. I go to most games. My son plays on the sophomore team. Kingwood is a very successful program. Coach Huseman is considered one of the best in the high school ranks. Runs a very disciplined team oriented program.
  14. I am planning on driving up from Houston for this game. As soon as I can figure out how to pm I would like to see about your tickets.
  15. thinking about a green happy hour at my home on Friday night. hope some posters are able to make it by on there way to hotel. I will make some plans and post more.
  16. That is true. this will be his first year on varsity at Kingwood.
  17. Do not see where I can buy my tickets through athletic department on line. Am i missing the link or do i actually have to call and order? it is best to try and sell out our allotment, correct?
  18. I am in charge of Kingwood Booster club merchandise sales. Last year we did a white out game against our rival. it looked great. We get a few sponsors to fund the shirts and i can tell you with a quanity of 3,000 the shirts can get pretty cheap especially in white with a one color print.
  19. wow, please keep posting. a win like this could elevate the program further
  20. will do, we ar moving into a new district tis year. Had been with The Woodlands and Conroe schools and now with spring and Klein.
  21. He did not play for Kingwood last year. But he is back this year for his senior season. Since Josh did not play last year at KHS I did not know he was on some radars. But he mostly shines in slect ball. Their are no stars on Kingwood due to the passing mentaility and unselfish play. But great players have come out of the system. Nic Wise and Singletary did well in college and learned the discipline game well from Coach Huseman. NIc's Dad is a big time coach HS coach you may be aware of in this area. I am sure he hand picked where he wanted Nic to play during his career before he headed to Arizona. yes, that was Hunter's parents you met. He was coming off of an injury last year so hoping he will have a big senior season also. Fun to watch Hunter play, a Barkley like kid.
  22. I go to almost every game. My son plays on the sophomore team. I will have him ask Josh about the weekend at Monday's practice.
  23. Harry, you need to head this way with sme diehards to watch him play this year. just put on the bball board i will host and buy dinner. The bid tournament of the year is the Kingwood Classic but it is over the Christmas holidays.
  24. UNT90, you and others are welcome to come to Kingwood to see Josh play this year. I will be your host to the game and dinner. You will enjoy watching Kingwood bsketball. No run and gun but some great ball movement and usually one of the top defenses in the state. some of you guys were commenting about Hunter Leahy from a tournament up in Dallas not too long ago. He is also on the team and a fun kid to watch play.
  25. Wow, that including their win against bama a while back is surreal for that program
