  1. After 14 successful years in Denton at the University of North Texas, the Great American Shoot-Out will be moving to the south side of the Metroplex. Duncanville, Cedar Hill and DeSoto High Schools along with the newly renovated Bob Knight Fieldhouse, will join IAD, as the host sites for the 2010 Great American Shoot-Out in July. IAD, Bob Knight Fieldhouse and these first-class high school facilities will keep the Great American Shoot-Out at the forefront of college coaches summer schedule. (New NCAA legislation prohibits the use of Division 1 college campuses for summer tournaments) I am extremely sad to see the tournament move from UNT/Denton; after such a successful stint. However, as a post-college resident of the DeSoto/Cedar Hill/Duncanville area, I am ecstatic! The Bob Knight Fieldhouse was the former Stars center in Duncanville. It is being converted to 6 Courts, 6-10 Volleyball courts and offices. Nearby Duncanville High has another 6-8 courts (Excluding Sandra Meadow Memorial Arena) As many of you know, the area is the premier hotbed of Texas HS basketball talent.
  2. I feel confident Hall will sign with the Mean Green. Not only is he a QB but potentially a great one (at a mid-lower level D1) Though he is very quick and elusive in the pocket, the fastest 40 time I have seen is 4.65. What other position could he play? The kid has a rifle that played his entire senior season (without getting hurt) with no picks. In 2-yrs, the kid will be 200 lbs on his 6-2 frame. This kid is Andrew Smith in the spread!
  3. Per Rivals, will visit LSU on 1/30. Will find out then if they will offer. Also likes UTEP, but UNT is alright as of 1/18.
  4. Throws way too many INT's. Bad decision on June Jones part to annoint this kid over Justin Willis; only because he recruited him for Hawaii. We can do better!
  5. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Blair http://www.aggieathletics.com/sports/w-bas...air_gary00.html
  6. The irony is that Gary Blair wanted very badly to coach the Lady Eagle; after an incredible run as girls coach at Dallas South Oak Cliff. He interviewed with the AD who later stated that he preferred a female coach.
  7. Craig James grew up in Houston! HS All-All American at Stratford. I have always liked James as a player and person. Can't believe Leach would jack with the son of a high profile college analyst. Hopefully Dodge won't mistreat the Dunham kid. Oops! Thought that was West Texas.
  8. Young's 2nd choice is baseball @ UT He is not a runner! Javia Hall needs to be the focus of Todd Dodge. Would have put up similar numbers at Ryan. Don't get me wrong, I love Young!

  10. Hall is a great shotgun QB prospect; period! Unless he's in for some gimmick play, I doubt he will ever see another position at UNT; or wherever he signs. An Andrew Smith type with a rifle arm. Because of a weaker schedule, Skyline did not pass as much as other spread offenses in the area. Despite very good statistical numbers, they lacked the monster numbers of a Scotty Young (Ryan) or Matt Joeckel (Arlington). It appears to have helped UNT by remaining off the radar of higher profile programs. He could use a redshirt year to gain 10-15 pounds and get acclimated to the system. I don't think he will command immediate playing time ahead of the other guys. However, as a true freshman, there will not be a drop off in talent or production; if pressed into service. He is too frail right now to be a running type QB. He is, however, extremely quick and elusive in the pocket (more so than the others, including Dodge) We just need his signature! As stated previously, I look for William Cole to take some snaps out of the Wildcat offense. (decent enough arm to keep the defenses honest)
  11. If I remember correctly, he started out at Kimball, went to Irving and returned to Kimball. Was a good player on a great Kimball team. Played with Quinton Ross (SMU/Dallas Mavericks). I think Acie Law was an underclassman and just after Jeryl Sasser (SMU/NBA) That list left hundreds of star players off. In particular Dallas & Houston ISD kids. Bobo Morgan played 15 minutes (UCLA) the other day against #1 Kansas and lotto pick Cole Aldrick. Had about 4 points and 2-3 blocks. I too believe he is out at the end of the season. Another possibility is Ian Markoff of Wisconsin. A good juco fit is Andre Jackson at Lee JC. Transferred from S. Miss last year. (Dallas Pinkston). Another is Isiah Rusher (Trinity Valley JC by way of New Mexico) talented but a head case out of Houston.

  13. Stay I voted for change a year ago. Sometimes the stimulus takes a little longer; based on the mess. Actually, I'm not against extending him another year! (a little more confidence and patience with UNT coaches has always worked for everyone not named Tina Slinker) We can't change coaches now (wasted recruiting class) or can afford it. Don't get out of the stock market when its tanking; invest more. Btw, if Dodge can sign Javia Hall, he helps next year along with William Cole as a wildcat type QB. Additionally, sign the best Juco QB you can get. If RV can't go get Dennis Francione, TD should be here next year.
  14. Peters is leaning toward WKY, according to Rivals.com. May visit Friday.
  15. Brandon Peters - 39 pts
  16. http://meangreenhoops.com/component/option...1/id,2697/#2700 6-11 OSU center, Jared Shaw also makes sense. Still early but he only played 2 minutes in an OSU exibition. UNT was in the mix on him.
  17. Nice reception for Vic Trilli from so many throughout the evening. Thanks for turning the pit green
  18. He's a 3! Will play all 5 position in HS. Will be at least a 2nd rounder in 4 years.

  21. Ross-Miller is at Nevada this weekend while Mitchell is at Georgetown.
  22. Hadn't noticed this before but please see "More on Mitchell" on SUMG's attachment.
  23. Top senior in DISD, State Top 5 and National Recruit. The final answer is: Missouri, Marquette, Georgetown and UNT. The 6-7 all-world athletic began his HS career at S. Grand Prairie but moved out of state. Returned to Dallas for his senior year. This kid can do it all! Impact player from day one.
  24. Ross-Miller had been committed to Kentucky since he was a soph. He remains a national recruit and would clearly be the best point guard at NT since "Weasel" Johnson. (though not as quick) I think his father/coach will decide his destination.
  25. Will visit WKU along with another top Houstonian within he next week or two
