  1. I saw this kid play the 2nd game of the season against my old high school. He looked much larger than he does in that picture. Is it possible that that picture was during the 09 season? Anyway, Forney was beating the hell out of the Golden Bears like 24 zip at halftime. I was so frustrated that I got out of Dodge. I was totally shocked that next day reading that the bears came back and won 27-24. This kid stood out to me with his size and mobility. They also had a kid by the name of Leslie Booker that was all over the field on offense and defense. Sign him too!!!
  2. I have not seen versatility (tape only) from Walton at all. I don't like Juco insurance policies.
  3. I'm sure Aguirre was there to support his long time Chicago friend Isiah Thomas. Aguirre also assisted Thomas when he coached the Knicks. Saw Aguirre about 2 weeks at a HS tournament in Dallas. Daughter Alana is a freshman at Frisco Wakeland.

  5. Saw Miller twice (Carter) during the recent Dallas ISD Coca-Cola after Christmas tournament. One game was against UNT signee Trey Norris’ South Grand Prairie Warriors in which he quietly scored about 24. He scored about 38 in the other game, Archived link: http://www.ihigh.com/dallasisd/broadcast_141501.html?silverlight=1 Miller is a 6-1 combo guard (southpaw). As pointed out in the article, he really does not hog the ball and scores in the flow of the game. He is clearly the best player on a very bad Carter team. Has a killer crossover and can shoot with the best of them (NBA 3-point range) Obviously, Miller is a scorer. His points comes from all over the court. Finishes drives to the lane extremely well. Can hurt you in every phase of the game, Seems to be a very intelligent player and plays under control. Great success story as he has worked extremely hard to garner the attention he is getting. He is not a high major; thus I don’t expect Baylor to show serious interest. From UNT’s perspective, I’m not sure he provides anymore than what Chris Jones (if eligible)will provide. Jones, in my opinion, could put up huge numbers as well but has to share the back court with Tech signee Toddrick Gotcher and 2-3 other talented guards. In hindsight, I’m sure JJ is kicking himself with the signing of Brandon Walton of Casper Wyoming JUCO. Despite leading the state in scoring, Miller will continue to get better. Walton, not so much. Maybe JJ can find a way to make the numbers work! I would love to have Miller on my team but we need 1 or 2 talented big men in a bad way. What the hell, let’s sign him! Starters PG – Chris Jones, FR SG – Phillip Miller (Open scholarship) FR SF - Jordan Williams FR PF – Kendrick Hogan SR C - (Open Scholarship) JR 2nd Team PG – Trey Norris FR SG – Alzee Williams, SO SF - Jacob Holman, JR PF – Forrest Robinson, FR C - Ben Knox, RS JR 3rd Team PG – Walk on SG - Transfer (Sitting out) SF - Walk on PF - Alonzo Edwards, SR C - Transfer (Sitting out)
  6. Decided to make the trip to Garland tonight to see Centennial and South Garland over South Grand Prairie vs Duncanville. Left with about 6 minutes remaining in the 4th when the coach emptied the bench with Centennial up by 40. I think Chris is much faster than Josh White driving to the hole. Had about 16 pts, 6-7 assist and 6-7 rebounds. Great overall floor game. Looks to pass first but can get to the bucket at will. Would like to see Centennial play stronger competition to better gauge Chris under pressure. He's just too strong and quick against some of the other HS guards in his district. Solid recruit by JJ and someone who will help from day one.
  7. Chris Henderson was recruited by everyone coming out of Dallas Carter. Signed with Texas A&M and didn't qualify. Had some thoughts about backing out of A&M to sign with OU. I don't know anything about his grades but certainly a BCS talent.
  8. I guess Chuck Howley was the last MVP from a losing team. Strange!
  9. I would be very disappointed if Robinson didn't play significant minutes next year; with what is being projected coming back at the 4 and 5. (Assuming no more additions) Though not a physical player at all, he would represent the only offensive threat (perimeter shooting) among the the guys being mentioned. He could become a match up nightmare at 6-10 away from the basket. (out to the 3-point line) Jordan Williams' game of slashing to the bucket and anticipated penetrating skills of Trey Norris and Chris Jones, should compliment Robinson's skills well. This recruiting class' performance, initially, will not be as good without the addition of an impact big man down low. At this time, we just have a bunch of bodies. Just this poster's opinion!

  14. Despite not considering the "Knox Factor" I thought it was a great article! Glad to see increased pressure/expectations for this program around the state.
  15. 1st game in Aug 2010 (Tom Landry Classic) Allen HS highlights: Apunku is #47 in Red Be sure to turn the audio down!
  16. Still on the front row!!!
  17. Gray, he's at least 235-240 now. I don't know where that 215 weight came from (probably at one point when he was 215!) Anyway, I would not worry about his size as I can easily see 255-260. He's a nicely built kid. Additionally, he played Right DE at this size all year. Much better looking physically than Brandon in HS. Just saw where the 215 came from: This post was back in March 2010 well before his senior year and before I had ever seen him play. http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51056&st=0&p=479193&hl=apunku&fromsearch=1&#entry479193

  20. Kimball downs Dallas Lincoln by 2 to win the 71st Annual Coca Cola Tournament. Jordan Williams finished the night with 30.
  21. Silver, sounds like you never went to a game! Between talking to your Brother-in-Law and reading media guides, your sources have you confused. Yes, most SWC schools and others incorrectly assumed that African American kids could not play quarterback. Most kids that played the position in HS were quickly converted to WR or DB. (Fact) Can you name 2 other African American quarterbacks around the entire country during that era? Hell, there were probably more D1 African American head coaches than quarterback. Hayden Fry recruited Jerry Levias to SMU as the first African American to play in the SWC. He also became one of the best of all times. This wasn't about keeping his word but getting the best players on the field in their right positions. Ken Washington was a Pro-Style quarterback (5-11 height) who rarely ran the ball; unless absolutely necessary. (This continues to be a stereotype with black quarterbacks). Ken was not a speedster (4.65) but could buy time, until a man came open. Ken could also tuck the ball and get the necessary yards for a 1st down. He always had the poise to stay with the play. My initial post/point was to help dispel the thought that we should not offer a scholarship to someone who alternated and/or backed up another. Jordan Case was the perfect example I used. I don't know why you chose to knock Ken Washington with false and inaccurate information. If anyone saw Ken play there is no way in hell would they come away thinking this guy undisciplined! Totally False! I mentioned my past relationship with Joe Stevenson to point out that despite our relationship; he was, in my opinion, not in Ken Washington's league. Now Joe was often undisciplined; thinking that his arm could get him out of situations. Anyway, I'm through with this topic. Ken Washington was inducted into the NT Hall of Fame long before most QB's before and after him. He also, as stated earlier, was the best QB in HS. (in my opinion) Coach Fry, as in most cases, was brilliant in seeing something others didn’t or refuse to. The rest became Mean Green history.
  22. Noticed today that Waters was selected again to the NFL Pro Bowl. Question: Does Brian Waters join Mean Joe Green in the NFL Hall of Fame? Certainly the KC Chief's Ring of Honor. Career highlights and awards 6× Pro Bowl selection (2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010,2011) 2× First-Team All-Pro selection (2004, 2005) ***Possibly 3x this year*** Walter Payton Man of the Year Award (2009) http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/brian-waters/69860
  23. Absolutely not!!! Ken Washington, in my opinion, has been the best QB this school has had since 1975, Period! Joe Stevenson was a personal friend and a member of the same social organization I belong to. Silver, Joe was not in the same league as Washington or Case. I took a class with both Ken Smith and Glenn Ray. As we frequently talked NTSU football, they often marveled about Washington as the starting QB. I also believe that Washington was the best high school quarterback in Texas. (Coming out of Port Arthur Lincoln) I honestly don't ever remember Ray or Smith playing much beyond mop up duty. (during my first year in 1975 or after) We did not miss a beat with Case when Lil Ken graduated. I'm sure we all can agree that Hayden Fry has been our best coach. Coach Fry rightfully appointed Washington as his QB with Jordan Case as his very capable backup. Now, I can possibly understand a debate between Washington and Case but certainly not the others. Many of today's Hall of Fame nominations/selections have/are watered down. (In all sports) However, the athletic department got it right with Washington, Case and Fry. http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=1800&ATCLID=138740
