I hope coaches tell kids that it's ok to continue to keep their options open because "we feel the same way"

Breaking news -- Chris Jones, Jordan Williams ineligible
Cooley replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
This is a damn shame! Don't blame anyone but these two guys. Let the team down, coaches and fans. I have been more impressed with JJ graduating his players than any thing he has accomplished on the court or what recruit he may have brought in. Delete the post if you like but Jordan spends more time on Twitter whinning about professors keeping the class the whole period; being boring etc. Why bother to even go to college? Having said that, I'm pleased that we are only talking about grades and a game of basketball rather than these guys being arrested or killed. I just hope they grow the hell up! These guys can be replaced next year with guys on the market now.- 182 replies

The 7,000 + crowd was against Bradley. My bad! A 108-88 NT romp. We only had 5,430 against the Sun Devils. Arizona State was ranked 17th in the United Press International (UPI) poll. Sports Editor, Marcia Lundy, wrote the article. I remember the buzz afterwards in us beating a higher ranked team. ASU was lead by All-American and future Dallas Maverick, Scott Lloyd.

We beat 17th ranked Arizona State in 1976. (7,076) We were 19th a week or two before or after this game. We ended the season taking down West Texas in the "Battle of Texas". (8,813) WTSU had also been in the top 20.

Exactly!

Why not build the hotel where Fouts is and use the hotel land for Apogee parking?

Every recruit we sign settles on us. They may not be as open about it as others.

Thought we had a new "can do" spirit at North Texas!

Where should I send a check?

We needed a shorter bench. If no one else goes down, I'm ok with things. Frankly, Hogans and Holeman were slow out the gate this year. Though undersized, Franklin can bang with the best of them. Mitchell needs to back off his aggressive attempts to deny his man the ball down low. JJ want admit it but it makes his substitution decisions much easier and I think takes some pressure off the team; knowing that they are short handed.

I certainly don't want to knock Chris but I think the guy that just left A&M (Jamal Branch) is better. Branch, and many others, are just quicker. This team (talent wise) could be really scary by Jones' junior and senior year. I continue to think that Mitchell is here 4-years (assuming grades are in order) as he is not NBA ready. A lot of guys can still make money overseas, however. The dead weight on this team will be moving on the next 2 years. I would like for JJ to be patient with the available scholarships opening up over the next 2 years to play with Tony and Chris. Jordan Williams could be a nice reserve once he learns how to play the game and continue to work on his shot. The 2013 area class is much better than 2012. I also look for many in the 2011 class that over signed to look to transfer. We have a very serviceable true center in Odoh coming on board as part of a banner 2013-2014 campaign along with others. Footnote: Overlander went off for 36 yesterday against a good program in Kenedale

Most of these guys are shooting the same percentage now as they did when they were recruited: Jordan Williams was brutal from outside at Kimball. Brandon Walton made some shots but not consistent enough to warrant a D1 scholarship. Roger Franklin has always been a hustle guy and leader on the court. An under sized power forward. Can make the outside shot but of great. Alzee was the point guard at Carter & Lincoln that rarely shot the ball from outside. Should. not be asked to play opposite your point guard. Chris Jones is a good outside shooter for a point guard. His role and expectation should not be to shot the ball from outside as he has . The guy is forced to try to do more. Tony Mitchell can make the outside shot but his game and range should be limited to the free throw line and in. We need him down low without any other consistent down low scoring options. You guys will think I'm crazy but the best outside threat and matchup problem for the opponent is Forrest Robinson. A tall guy more comfortable outside. Clark Overlander (2012-2013) - Knows his role very well and will be the best outsde shooter on the team. Does not have the foot speed or quickness to create his own shot. His role will be to find a spot on the court and stay there; in hopes that his man will leave him to help out and bury the 3 when guys kick it out In the mean time, I'd like to see more of Trey Norris playing with Chris. We can't shoot so move to an even more up tempo game where Jordan Williams plays to his strength and our designated shooters (Walton & Alzee) play enen less in certain situations. This teams should be averaging at least 80 pts a game! Typed on cell phone**

Screw Jeff Patton! The guy helped screw Grambling and bailed! We need that scholarship next year for another true center or a 2 guard that can actually shoot. His game does not help us as much. JJ will look like a damn fool when he is not eligible next year. He is not a Tony Mitchell to take a chance on. Surely we can find a student athlete. Go Mean Green!

Until we can find some $, put what we had back up! Surely they can borrow some extra speakers and hide them in the upper deck.

Also wanted to play with Phil Pressey

Arguably the best athlete to ever come out of Ft. Worth Dunbar has been granted his release. Would be a big time WR for UNT in football, a very good rotation guy for JJ in basketball and an All-Conference track guy. The coaching staff needs to show this former Dunbar Wildcat some love! http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/college-sports/texas-longhorns/20111214-texas-longhorns-wide-receiver-darius-white-to-transfer.ece http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/white_darius00.html

I welcome all sources of North Texas information and am very pleased to see this back up. I believe this is self-financed without any pop up ads. Sounds like many folks are satisfied with the current coverage around D/FW.
