  1. http://southcarolina.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1396047 With one remaining opening for their 2013 recruiting class, Creighton has been targeting explosive guards this summer. Two players that have seen a tremendous amount of attention from CU coaches on the AAU circuit in July have now set their official visits to Omaha. Guards Marcus Foster of Texas and John Dawson of New Mexico will be on campus in September for a first hand look at the Bluejay program. TheBluejaycafe.com has learned that Foster will be in town from September 14th to 16th while Dawson will take his visit either from September 20th through 22nd or September 21st through 23rd. Creighton could also see an official visit from Texas guard Shirmane Thomas soon as well. There was an erroneous report on Twitter Sunday that claimed Thomas had committed to Creighton. That report was pulled back quickly after it was released. The Bluejays are expected to enter the upcoming season ranked in the Top 25 and have three commitments for their 2013 class already.
  2. Where did the "Glory years" tag come from in the first place? Mac didn't exactly say anything that many didn't already know and feel. That run was against new schools to D1 football and before Troy joined. Honestly, we have not had any glory years in ages. UNT's facilities and salaries were on par with everyone else in that startup league. True, there were 26 consecutive wins against these startups but we didn't dominate anybody. Outside of the worst conference in D1 football, as Mac accurately pointed out, we were awful. We will eventually get there with a new stadium and a better regional conference. Not convinced it will be under McCarney, who doesn't exactly have a storied history at Iowa St himself. Maybe it's just me but i'm embarrassed to suggest to anyone outside of Denton or this message board that those start up years in the Sunbelt were glorious times.
  3. This team, in my opinion, lacks a big time impact center (and backup) to compete with the big boys. (Top 25) Additionally, there are way too many new faces to acclimate to a new coach and system; prior to preseason NIT action. Hopefully the guys will gel by conference time but victories against Belt competition will not garner national attention. As such, we will be hard pressed, like all other mid to low majors, to obtain a seed lower than 14-15, (even with 20+ wins) A more realistic and obtainable goal is to just win the Sun Belt Conference. (Something we have never done) I understand the euphoria over Tony Mitchell and his impact on UNT basketball. It shouldn't, however, be measured on how far he helps up advance in a given season. His impact, along with CUSA admission, will be felt beyond the 2012-2013 season. Let's win the Sun Belt first and see where we stand in relations to Top 25 votes/rankings or greatest team ever discussions
  4. Men's Quarterfinals. (March 9, 2012) Raw video/audio feed from the NJCAA Reg. XIV Basketball Tournament. http://www.ihigh.com...l?silverlight=1 Box Score http://www.region14hoops.com/2012%20Mens%20Stats/men5.htm
  5. We are already down to 2 scholarships left for 2013-2014. Saw Pollard in Frisco a couple of months ago and love his game. Edo makes the most sense based on need. Current projected roster: C - Coleman, Jr PF - Open SF - Jordan Williams, Jr SG - TJ Taylor, Jr. PG - Chris Jones, Jr C - Brazilian, Jr PF - Open SF - Anthony Norris, Jr SG - Alzee Williams, Sr. PG - P.J. Hardwick, Soph C - Tony Nunn, Fr. PF - Open SF - Open SG - Clarke Overlander, So PG - Trey Norris, Jr. Though only 6-5, Edo plays much taller and would do well in CUSA; at the 4. We also could use an impact center since I am not sold on what we have coming in. (just my opinion)
  6. Wish this was the NBA where we could package 3-4 guys and get a center in here.
  7. They (THSCA) really need to seriously consider doing away with this game in its current form. Gone are packed houses in the largest venues in Texas to a half empty NAIA gym. They've gone from primetime cable broadcasts to live internet streaming. If most of the 11,000 high school coaches, attending the convention, don't bother to show up, why should anyone else? It doesn't seem to be an honor anymore for the top Texas kids to get invited or play. Kids prefer to travel the country with their AAU teams to play the top talent nationally; in front of the top coaches. Overlander had about 15 points (all on threes, I think)
  8. Nunn is #33 in the videos. I believe he had just joined "Upward Stars 17" and didn't play much. Project type kid that has a classic low post game, needed for a half court pace and possibly crunch time. Like everyone else, I don't know anything about the Brazilian guy but Nunn is probably the 3rd string center in 2013-2014. http://www.ihigh.com/augustabasketball/broadcast_232720.html?silverlight=1 http://www.ihigh.com/augustabasketball/broadcast_232726.html?silverlight=1 http://www.ihigh.com/augustabasketball/broadcast_232722.html?silverlight=1
  9. Don't think Nunn is playing with Boo Williams this weekend. Played earlier with Upper City. You can view Nunn and Upper City against CP3 at the Queen City tournament. (Kid really needs to get in better shape to get more playing time. http://www.ihigh.com/augustabasketball/broadcast_232726.html?silverlight=1 I believe the game today between Houston Hoops and Team Texas Elite was the 16 and under squad. The 17 and under teams were in the consolation bracket but did not play each other. Anyway, a ton of talent on the HHoops team. I saw that Scott Drew of Baylor was there during a game yesterday. Roster from session 3 of the EYBL National Tournament in Frisco in May. Houston Hoops Derrick Griffin 6-7, Rosengburg Terry. – 2 sport star (A&M Football) Kenneth Williams 6-2, Houston Episcopal Keith Frazier, 6-5, Dallas Kimball James Thompson, 6-9, Baton Rouge Dekeba Battee-Aston 6-8, Cedar Hill Justice Winslow, 6-6, Houston St Thomas Justin Jackson, 6-6, Houston HCYA Robert Hatter, 6-1, Westside Kelly Oubre, Jr, 6-6, Fort Bend Bush Tony Trocha, 6-11, St Thomas Melvin Swift, Jr 6-7, Yates Kadeem Lattin, 6-9, Canaris Academy Team Texas Marquan Botley, 5-9, Plano Prestonwood Julius Randle, 6-9, Plano Prestonwood Colten Gober, 5-10, Colleyville Heritage Greg Wesley, 6-7, Arlington Sequin Matt Jones, 6-4, Desoto (committed to Duke) Ridge Shipley, 6-0, Hebron Damion Jones, 6-9, Baton Rouge Preston Troutt, 6-0, TCA-Addison Jackson Forbes, 6-6, Plano John Paul

  11. Managers in the business world are encouraged to coach up (the bottom 20% performers) or coach them out. Employer's hire workers only to quickly terminate them, demote them, reduce hours/benefits or even outsource their job overseas to improve the profitability of the company. Many of the impacted employees were probably performing at an "exceeds" level. College athletics is a multi-billion dollar industry. Its all about winning and generating revenue/returns for the shareholders. (Big donors) Employees and players often times get screwed. Not right but a reality in all walks of life.
  12. I've always liked Hawkins. I think he is a better player in a more team oriented structure than AAU ball. I certainly wouldn't mind one of the three remaining ships going to him. Coached by former UNT (NTSU) standout Stan Blackman @ Rowlett.
  13. Thanks NT03!
  14. I have no idea if Taylor is interested in UNT or if UNT is interested in him. Certainly a very sensitive subject where I maintain mixed feelings. You absolutely have to make room for a Tony Mitchell type talent, with good character. You don’t, however, for someone who does not make you appreciably better. Moreover, you don’t need to keep guys on the roster who you don’t expect to contribute. We had a coaching change. Coaches are fired for not winning. Winning attracts more fans. More fans become students. Students become alums. Happy alums donate more money. More money improves facilities. A better facility gets us in a bigger better conference. A better conference splits more TV revenue. Greater revenue and exposure attracts better talent and so on and so on in some order. Anyway, though a Tony Mitchell he aint, TJ makes us much better. 2010 Texas Hoops.com Rankings (Top 160) http://texashoops.ri...asp?CID=1076670 TJ Taylor #7 - Denison HS Tony Mitchell #1 - Dallas Pinkston
  15. Thank you gentlemen! I appreciate at. Wish PJ Hartwick a Happy Birthday also!

  17. NT03 can do us all a favor by telling us now who will be signing with us in November so we can just focus on those guys. (3,000 kids participating).
  18. http://southcarolina.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1385399 PF Soma Edo, 6-foot-5 Richardson (Texas) Berkner 2013: Edo is far from the most skilled player at the Adidas Invitational. He doesn't have a true position as an undersized power player, and he isn't someone that the big schools are necessarily tracking at this point. But he is far and away the premier athlete playing in Indianapolis. The forward routinely made plays above the rim on Saturday, including an alley-oop finish that he caught and slammed home just a few inches from the top of the backboard. Edo brought the crowd, and even some typically reserved college coaches, to their feet in warmups as he threw down consecutive between-the-legs dunks; and then proceeded to produce a double-double on the court in a Dallas Mustangs' overtime loss to Dream Vision in the quarterfinals.
  19. 3 Dallas kids in the top 25
  20. I'm thinking CUSA helped with this commitment. Hopefully we can hold onto this guy. 21. Like what I see down low; albeit against smaller guys.
  22. Moved to Lancaster from the Seattle area around the Christmas holidays. Was the starting center for Lancaster. Actually, pretty good and worthy of a mid-major scholarship in hoops.
