Paris JC center Nouhoum Bocoum to visit UNT
Cooley replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Nice to see a UNT offer but this kid has (or will have) better offers. A taller John Odoh at this point. Verbal Commits @VerbalCommits 40s North Texas has offered 2016 Prestonwood Christian (TX) C Schneider Herard. (HT @boogclay) @Scutt_herard http://verbalcommits.com/players/schneider -
Picked up Boise State offer... Spring practice started for some schools this past Monday. Brief video of Thomas at practice.

Correct! I did mean OK St. The problem with us, and folks like TCU, is that kids don't won't to be outdone by teammates. SOC now has a safety committed to Notre Dame, a corner committed to OU, another corner with an offer from Wisconsin, a running back committed to UT, a quarterback/athlete to Arizona St and a 2016 prospect with high majors on the way. Thomas pounced on TCU the day they offered. There will be other opportunities. I don't like him at "The" Ohio State University.

Paris JC center Nouhoum Bocoum to visit UNT

The 2-day tournament I am referencing was for guys who don't have any offers, small school offers and/or have not committed. (over 200) There was no reason for someone with multiple offers to play in this tournament. I got to believe there must be other issues because there were several D-1 mid-major talent there. (hence, several available big men) 1 guy I thought was a high-major talent -

They used a running clock, so the games were not that long for the number of guys to play. He looked and played like what we have seen on video. Only saw one outside shot (which he missed) but the guy can really drive to the bucket with explosion and tremendous jumping ability. Not as tall as I would like but he is powerfully built and strong. Not sure if you have seen King McClure (Dallas Triple A) but they look and play similarly. An NBA comparison (just in style) would be Dwayne Wade; where he is too strong for most defenders. Many college coaches present. A board favorite, Danny Kaspar, was on hand. No UNT sighting the time I was there. Absolutely big men still available. Not sure about grades and/or character as to why they are still available. The talent was definitely there. -

Saw Mr. Brooks today. I would welcome the addition. -

Don't know if any of these guys are worth a damn but over 250 will be at the Beckley/Saner Recreation Center in Oak Cliff Saturday and Sunday. Guys of all shapes and sizes. Hopefully the coaching staff will beat me there. http://www.jucoshowcase.com/?page_id=925

It's a shame Duncanville haven't been able to get it right since Phil McNeely retired 3 seasons ago. http://espn.go.com/high-school/boys-basketball/story/_/id/3681531/duncanville-starts-season-no-1/ Even though he won, I never felt that he got the most of the talent he had. I also didn't care for his style. The boys coach has always had to play 2nd fiddle to the girls (who have now had 2 coaches for almost 30 years, with 7 large school state championships) Should have a long line of applicants for one of the better jobs in Texas. Here's hoping the new guy can come close to the success the girls have enjoyed over the years. Sandra Meadows Registered a 743-120 record in 25 seasons at Duncanville, guiding the Pantherettes to four state titles, including three consecutive, as well as district titles in each of those years Cathy Self-Morgan Has lead Duncanville to the state finals for the past three seasons and a 105-game winning streak. Was named the 2014 Naismith Trophy high school girls basketball coach of the year. She was one of eight finalists for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association high school coach of the year. Self-Morgan has won three state championships at Duncanville — in 2003, 2012 and 2013. Top-ranked Duncanville lost its bid for a third straight championship this season in a 58-53 loss to No. 2 Manvel.

I gave up on trying to figure out how to post a tweet. Canales posted a picture of himself with JT later. What's up with the surprise? I don't interpret the surprise to be JT Smith. Coach Mike Canales @coachcanales 3h Great Surprise waiting for us @ Phoenix College JC. Met by UNT Hall of Fame - JT Smith. All Century Team. Picture to Come Well, maybe!

I refuse to believe we will not have a serviceable center in here by October. (someone other than this Bochum person) If we role out a guard line-up I'll just sit out the year. Wait, I did that this year. Can a person red shirt 2 years in a row?

Combs is a go to player. He'll just be too thin and short to be effective down low in college. Did not improve at all his outside game this past year. He's very good receiving the ball 10 feet out from the basket and driving on bigger guys though. Don't see Jordan playing the 4 at all (No reason to) If his team is not running and gunning, Wesley doesn't help. If we are, he would be great.

Not a Benford fan. Just pointing out that folks (including me) were calling for JJ's head after 5 years. (and for good reason) For the record, Chris Davis (inherited by JJ) was a more productive player than Tony Mitchell. Davis was just as good in high school as Tony was at Pinkston. Mitchell was not the player most experts predicted him to be. He is an NBA project than an NBA player. Hopefully, he will turn out to be a Gerald Green (Most improved player) after bouncing around the league for a number of years. Benford did have some academic issues and injuries his first year. Go back and read the posts. The same issues folks complain about Benford are somewhat similar to complaints about JJ. Could he coach? I am not comparing coaches as much as their situation. There was no excuse for JJ's record his first 5 years. I was also disappointed in his early recruiting. So, in hindsight, it may take 5 years. (It shouldn't!)
