Tyran Mason's Plano teammate, Justin McBride, (Junior year) is also in the portal. May be looking for another P5. Very good player that would really help. https://okstate.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/justin-mcbride/11152 Mason - #1, McBride #21 -
Who are you comparing "Players these day" to? Never before has college players been paid and allowed to transfer each year. Don't know if kids today are any different than at any other time under the same circumstances.

Rubin was his high school's leading scorer in a run and gun offense that average about 100 points a game. He had never played in a slow down offense like UNT ever. JACK YATES HS 2020 TABC All-State...2020 TABC All-Region...Named one of 10 finalist for the 2020 Guy V. Lewis Award, which is given to the Houston Prep Player of the Year...VYPE Public School Houston Player of the Year Finalist...Reached the 2020 4A UIL Texas Boys State Basketball championship before the season was cut short due to COVID pandemic...As a senior, Yates went 26-3 overall and 14-0 in district and was the No. 1 ranked 4A team...During his senior season, Jones led Yates to 21 straight games of scoring 100 or more points, which broke the national record of 16 previously held by the 2010 Yates team...Ended his senior season on a 23-game winning streak...Yates scored 100+ points in 22 of its last 23 games in 2019-20...As a junior he led Yates to the state semifinals...Went 12-0 in district play as a junior -

Good luck to Rubin @ Michigan. Thanks for the memories. Just curious why he just didn't walk on at Michigan from Yates HS if he loved the history and family feel so much. Had a very good career at Yates but Michigan wasn't around when only UTEP, UNT and Nichols State came calling.- 78 replies

Ashton Hardaway, 6-8 Memphis. Penny's son. Played his junior year at Duncanville HS Wishful thinking but this kid would be a home run: https://butlersports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/finley-bizjack/11340

If SMU offered you $200,000 per year to come post on their fan board (Poneyfans.com) versus GoMeanGreen.com would you? What if LSU or someone else tops that by $50k the following year? In the business world, have you ever been offered substantially more to leave your employer? Or did you stay "loyal" to your company that may have hired you right out of college? It's unfortunate but these are the questions the kids have to make today. Playing and/or starting seems to be secondary. I think I would go get that paycheck my final year of eligibility.

Now that we know we have at least 2 open slots, please list realistic UNT portal possibilities. Recent history has shown that the team will go Juco in its search. However, some notable local names to ponder: Cameron Barnes - Slim 6-10 kid just entered the portal from Ole Miss. Still raw but started at center for powerhouse Duncanville the last 3 years. Should be a redshirt freshman Drew Steffe - Never played his freshman season at Tech. Family issues caused him to withdraw from the program. Big time 6-5 recruit out of Frisco Memorial. Great shooter. Davion Sykes - Texas State transfer and another former Duncanville Panther. Good wing prospect that may have undersigned Eddie Lampkin Jr - Colorado & TCU transfer. 6-11, 265 from Morton Ranch HS in Houston. Would move right into the starting center position. Ashton Smith - 6-9, 270 from Oral Roberts. Played with Aaron Smith in HS. Not great but a big body Duncan Powell - Sacramento State & NC State transfer from DeSoto, TX. Played one year with Chris Morgan. Micah Peevy - TCU & Texas Tech - Excellent player out of Duncanville HS where he played for father David. Will more than likely stay P5 or enter the draft Jakobe Coles - TCU & Oklahoma - 6-7 C/F that played on a very good Denton Guyer team Alex Anamekwe - UT transfer. Very good HS player out of McKinney HS. 6-5 Lee Dort - Vanderbilt transfer. 6-10, 245. May have little interest since he was arrested for aggravated assault of his ex girlfriend. From McKinney, TX Abou Ousmane - 6-10 big transfer from Xavier. Former Mean Green starting center

BREAKING: Jason Edwards to enter transfer portal

BREAKING: Jason Edwards to enter transfer portal
Cooley replied to Jdawg48's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I don't know why we keep ripping guys that contributed from day 1. There's a very good chance that this team would not have achieved what it did without Jason Edwards. If he was the complete package when he came here he wouldn't have came here. Again, this fanbase/board needs to come to grips with the age of NIL and the transfer portal. We love our guys until they leave.- 135 replies

Don't think the current scholarship count will allow 3 additional pieces.
