We need upgrades everywhere. Porter shined at times but he isn't/wasn't going to take us to the promise land.

Heisman finalists and recruiting rankings

How impressive is it for them to learn that the coach is in NYC supporting his 0 star recruit; that he coached up to be a Heisman finalist? Coach O can step up. -

Why is it that when certain players leave they get ripped up and down? Even long after they are gone. Yet others seem to be darlings of the program.

To help curb the movement of players (legally), I think the NCAA should consider the elimination of "Redshirting" altogether. Change dictates that schools shouldn't feel a need to invest/develop players over a 4-5 year period anymore. This could force kids to hang around longer, realizing they aren't/weren't physically developed their first year. Additionally, having one less year of class credits toward a degree. Schools would also benefit financially by not having to fund their education over 5 years. Redshirting should not be an option anymore when healthy kids only play in 4 games. The reality is more and more kids aren't sticking around beyond 2-3 years. I understand the top desirable players seeking a bigger challenge, greater notoriety and/or more money. Other marginal guys seem to be entering the portal because of ego; a sense of wanting to be courted all over again. Unfortunately for many, scholarships are limited versus the growing number of entrants. Many often end up at a similar or smaller level program; if at all.

Lets just move down to Division III where everyone walks on.

You just answered your question. We will always get the talented undersize players.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about Chandler Morris' play

Good luck DT. Go be great!

From an historical perspective, I understand his sentiments. We were clearly the better program for a number of years. They have continued to improve on the field and we have not. They're not a better program today; although their current day success. Rightfully or not, this is the same feeling SMU has had toward us, forever. I've always felt, we are the un-luckiest program in the country in terms of elevating the program. We see signs on the field then regress. Props to Southwest Texas State. I can't get excited either thinking back to those Southland Conference days together at Fouts Field.
