Ok, I’ll say it. If McCasland moves on, I’m all in on bringing Johnny Jones back. I thank McCasland for bringing respectability back to the program and reaching new heights. I don’t think, however, that he can take us much higher; with the level of recruits and style of play. Jones left on very good terms. He had that itch to go back home and it didn’t work out. He left a wealth of talent that was squandered. I’d tie him up @ $1mm for 5 years. TSU may not match that. Man, TSU scored 87 points yesterday. (Getting emotional just at that thought) Love to keep Grant but I’m not stressing.

PG Offer: Themus Fulks; Dodge City C.C.

Mainly guys that programs above us want. (I absolutely loathe that star system) No question the coaching staff have done a phenomenal job of identifying kids who needed some love. Dusting off others and selling an opportunity. Far too many, however, have been busts. I remain totally shocked at the success this team (this season) has had. I’m often bored with the style of play. Crazy I know. How do you only play 7 guys the whole season? Collectively, I don’t think they are a talented group. At times, I think the 1975/1976 team would run them out of the gym, every night. This team, though, reminds me of that Texas Wesleyan squad that came into the Pit, with their deliberate pace, and beat Bill Blakeley. The AD was so impressed, he hired their coach (Tommy Newman) the next year. Newman was so slow paced, he passed on a committed Spud Webb; after taking the job. Back to the question. Tony Mitchell, Jordan Williams, Chris Davis and Kenneth Lyons types. There’s more talent locally than at any other time. SMU and TCU have been notorious for landing these guys that transfer back to the area. We now must think about beating Memphis, SMU and others. To be clear, I am as ecstatic with the job performance/results. Just don’t think we can sustain that success with a short bench and guys completely shunned coming out of the high school ranks. Again, not criticizing the coach. Somewhat surprised the success has not generated greater interest from higher regarded recruits; after the team success. Happy we offered Anthony Black early (Coppell/Duncanville) Hopefully, that caliber prospect will land in the program every once in a while Just my random thoughts -

You guys can be my guest and fire away but when does the recruiting tick up? 2 consecutive NCAA/NIT bids and we continue to go after/sign the same type guys. (As though the program has not had any success) Yes, the bar for me has risen but with a stronger bench, maybe we can advance the program even further. Without 2 buzzer beaters from Tylor Perry nor notable injuries/sickness this year, this could have been a .500 season. I don’t see this target as someone taking the program to the next level; to compete with SMU, TCU, UH or some other future AAC members. Hope the coaching staff doesn’t get complacent.- 24 replies

Just one example of SuperPit inequities

If UNT found the money for a new state of the art facility, I’m not convinced they wouldn’t f___ it up with some ugly “Wing” seating.- 42 replies

I tried but don’t see a difference. What storied tenure? I’m not a Mitchell fan but again, what’s different? The only question is not if Julie goes into the UNT Hall of Fame, it’s just when? Julie had a winning program after 2 years and Slinker 9 years. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Texas_Mean_Green_women's_basketball

Would you support signing Grant McCasland to a lifetime contract?

Don’t know about Ft Worth’s contribution but these are Dallas area kids. More specially, SW Dallas County. 5 McDonalds AA from this metro area is crazy. Ronald Holland of Duncanville will be in the 2023 game.

Why was he signed? He will be a trivia question on GMG in another 3-4 years. Shocked if he is in Denton after May.

This can only help UNT. Coaches have to win before asking donors to step up. Hopefully, “Hit six” becomes a thing of the past.

There’s about 5 guys at the end of the bench other schools should come after

Helps to offset an otherwise mediocre class along with Perry.

Much easier to only play 7-8 when you only have 7-8 kids on the roster that can play. The point was that he appears to just squander 3-4 scholarship a year to only use for practice. A lack of bench will bite him in the ass.

Not even considering the 2022/2023 season, Seth Littrell is already a first ballot UNT Hall of Famer. No need to look at his overall record. Many will point to the number of times he has taken us to a bowl game. No other UNT coach would have done more. (Although you automatic go with a .500 record and a few 5 win schools make it) Move over Hayden Fry. Boys and girls, we are experiencing UNT history. Enjoy the ride and greatness of one Seth Littrell. I can see it a few years from now, fellow UNT Hall of Fame QB, Derek Thompson welcoming Seth as the newest member. As they say, only at North Texas.
