  1. Upon review, Duffey was 2017-2018. Still waiting on the fax to arrive from Wagner in the class of 2023.

  3. In todays times, it may be better to pass on a talented freshman that’s ready to play right away. If they turn out to be really good, they’re in the portal in 2 years or less.
  4. Saw him play against Bishop Dunne his senior season on TV. Didn’t play up to the hype during that game.
  5. How does DII ball compare to Texas Juco competition?
  6. Thats wonderful you feel this way. This is not what I am asking. No coach would or should discuss names of potential recruits. I would, however, want to have a general idea of how many official scholarship are available? Are we looking to get bigger? Have we been informed that a kid (without names) may not be back? What’s the goal for next season? Very general questions to keep fans connected and engaged during the off season. To my knowledge, North Texas does not have a 24/7 cable network or coaches show(s) year round. To inquire about things during a critical period in time is not asking to much. No one is criticizing the coach. In fact, my amusement is that local media does not appear to ever reach out, proactively, for this content; for the benefit of fans. I really enjoyed and appreciated RV for popping in from time to time on this forum, in the interest of those interested. Thanks for the invitation for me to personally reach out to the coach. I kinda think this is more the role for media types. Often times message boards are full of speculation, opinions and erroneous information. Why not go through the media as a conduit. I’m equally impressed with the results in recent seasons. I don’t feel, however, that a coach, regardless of their success, should never feel that they don’t deserve to be visable. Not saying that Grant feels this way.
  7. Does McCasland grant (pun) interviews with local Denton media? Would love to learn more about the off-season. What is he looking for? Is everyone coming back? What does he generally see in recruits that most other coaches don’t see? What are the goals for the coming season? Any top kids he’s in on that we may have heard of? Who is his favorite NBA player/coach? Any notable pre-season tournaments? If he were a tree, what kind would he be? We need more info than we are getting!
  8. Can't think of his name but he went to KState
  9. I'd rather just wait until October and not speculate. Too many openings and too many guys from that 2021 bunch with question marks. Tylor Perry technically was not a starter but a starter that came in within 2 minutes. Bench has to be much stronger so I'm hoping we hit on more guys. With Thomas Bell gone, I don't see anyone with his ability to pound the ball down low for most of the 30 seconds. Not sure if Grant will switch that up and open things up more. There's a kid (Trae Clayton, Kimball) that surprisingly is being overlooked. About 6-5.
  10. 2008–09 Shanice Stephens 11–20 6–12 2009–10 Shanice Stephens 9–22 5–13 2010–11 Shanice Stephens 5–25 2–14 2011–12 Karen Aston 15–16 7–9 2012–13 Mike Petersen 11–19 10–10 2013–14 Mike Petersen 12–18 6–10 2014–15 Mike Petersen 5–24 4–14 Put him in. Facilities are nice.
  11. Don’t sleep on him playing some TE
  12. Welcome to Denton Dylan. Thought KState was a lock.
  13. Southern Methodist University
  14. It’s always (HS, College & Pro) the team playing the best ball at the end of the year; where season records don’t matter. The 2021 team was playing the best ball at the right time with better players and depth. The 2011 Dallas Mavericks didn’t have an impressive regular season record but got hot near the end of the season to win the championship. A plethora of examples each year in HS basketball and football.
  15. If only Michell can now find a 6-5 girl (that can play) like all the teams in the NCAA tournament. How about the cousin of Acheil Tac that Jalie coached a few years ago with a similar name. (Adhel) Unfortunately, South Grand Prairie’s Adhel Tac (6-5) was only a soph. this year and will probably be the top recruit in Texas.
  16. Wouldn’t increase his base salary at all. Wasn’t the salary both parties agreed to based on a certain expectation? Sounds like he earned his salary. I would, however, add more incentives: $25k for averaging 70 pts per game $10k for every kid that averages 15 minutes per game (starters and bench) $100k if average attendance is 5k or more $50k for every win in the NCAA $25k for every win in the NIT $25k for averaging a shot within 30 seconds $50k if the teams FT% is 75% $10k for a weekly talk show. (To discuss JUCO’s in America) $10k for each P5 transfer $10k for every HS kid signed. $1k for every time he smiles on the court Somebody can do the math but this can be one hell of a compensation package.
  17. Just my 2 cents. I think McCasland to SMU would be a horrible choice for SMU. Unlike what he came into at UNT, SMU’s program is in much better shape. The expectation to win and win big would be like nothing he experienced at UNT, Arkansas St or Midwestern St. Though the man has a history of turning around down trodden programs, SMU is not looking for a guy to win a CBI tournament or win 1 game in the NCAA or NIT. Grant has done miracles at UNT. However, you can’t say the UNT program is better than SMU, TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Houston, A&M or UT. SMU has aspirations of still competing against the old SWC schools and/or competing nationally. Totally different ball game for Grant who has not been in the home of top HS recruit in Texas that I am aware of. That will have to change. Why would SMU open up the checkbook for a guy whose team averaged about 60 points per game. That’s not going to get George W and Laura Bush out to games on a Tuesday nights Where there is smoke, there’s fire. No need to stress out Mean Green fans over losing him. It’s inevitable (this year or next) And no, I’m not for paying $1 more to retain him. There would be a long line to accept a $700k salary; when this jobs comes available. Good coaching is being done at Texas St, SFA, Abilene Christian and TSU. Appears we are so paranoid about a second sighting of Tony Benford/Vic Trilli. Yes, I would like to see a winning (up tempo offense) in the PIT. Not excited about the assistant head coach taking over and possibly retaining the same style of play. Just my opinion
  18. Just testing the waters. Not a bad move on his part
  19. Dude looks like a grown ass man
  20. Jakobe Coles, 6-9, F/C -TCU (Guyer HS)
  21. https://www.dallasnews.com/high-school-sports/basketball/2022/03/14/i-think-were-special-is-this-years-duncanville-team-one-of-the-best-to-ever-come-through-texas/
  22. I’d happily take 75 points a game average. This means you are not passing the ball around for 22 seconds before you finally look at the basket. Yes, the main goal is to win the game but it should also be entertaining. Whoever we bring in (current staff or outside) has to provide an entertaining brand of ball; to attract more talented kids; to put more asses in seats (who will pay more than $2 and/or asked to bring in 4 others for free) helping inflate attendance for a championship team. I know folks are paranoid about another Benford hire but we shouldnt assume a leftover will be more successful. In fact, the offense/recruiting could be more of the same. Again, not trying to run off a very successful coach. Just not losing any sleep In fear of reverting back to 8-20 records. No more unnecessary extensions and above budget contracts. (Until the product is in demand at inflation costs)
  23. Matches the late 60’s Houston Wheatley Wildcats’ teams that won 3-4 State Championship consecutively (Largest classification) Should be an early favorite in 22-23. Dallas area was a metal detector away from sweeping all the larger classification) 2021-2022 State Championships 6A - Duncanville 5A - Kimball (player arrest/disqualification) night before State Semi game cost Kimball in the loss to Beaumont United. 4A - Dallas Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy 3A - Dallas Madison Congratulation to the DeSoto Lady Eagle (6A State Champions) Back to Back SW Dallas County
