It’s not exciting basketball; despite the winning seasons. Is there a comparable size program, with 40k students, with a similar record, that averages the same or less fans? With the winning percentage over the last 5 years you’d think there would be much greater interest from top recruits to sign on.

The most attended games were when the team was winning and scoring about 90-100 points a game; with a fraction of the students and without a conference affiliation) Hopefully, we can get back to the point of doing both.

Who?

Noticed that Ricky Evans is in most of the photos with Taylor. He also has a Mean Green jacket on. A 2024 WR that was recently offered. Curious if they are related.

'23 LB Offer: Dylan Brown-Turner; South Oak Cliff: No Rating
Cooley replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
He’s been blown up on here more than he should. Would love to keep SOC players home but not a dominate player. Don’t know why FSU would want to make him a priority. A transfer portal candidate in 2-3 years. -

I can only speak to this fan and not the motivation of others. Yes, I want the W. I also want to be entertained. I don’t understand this brand of basketball (Offense). If a coach is undermanned against a high powered offense with superior athletes, this is the brand to play. Let the air out. My issue is that this is the preferred style this coach wants to play. He has averaged at least 5 scholarship to give each year. It doesn’t appear he goes after the uptempo guys. His system seems to work because it is so unorthodox that it frustrates more talented teams/players; taking them out of their game. Can we have our cake and eat it to? Wins and championships in a more entertaining and uptempo fashion. I remember attending a game at Baylor years ago against the great Vinnie “Microwave” Johnson. This was one of the more entertaining games I’ve attended. Vinnie was unstoppable and put up about 50 against a very good North Texas team. They took Vinnie out to a rousing ovation lead by North Texas fans in a loss. With only 17k students in the mid 70’s, NT basketball was the place to be in front of the largest crowds in program history. Why? A combination of winning and exciting basketball. Locally today, TCU, Baylor, SMU, Tech, Houston have won and attracted huge crowds by not playing this slow down ball. The top programs attract the best personnel with entertaining basketball. Is there any reason why our attendance is not great despite record wins and championships? Folks want to be entertained. I do at least.

TT DL Syncere Massey from Cedar Hill enters the Portal
Cooley replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Must be grades or off the field concerns. He has major P5 talent and size. That ACU roster is loaded. -

You have an option on the bench in Christian Moore but he never plays. Even with wins, this offense is painful to watch

He’s legit -
On a different note, the announcers said that TCU would be bringing in 30-35 new kids in recruiting and mention that many would come from the transfer portal. Why can’t UNT do the same thing? I keep reading that we only have a few spots to give. By the way, I’m not a TCU fan and was happy to see a blowout.

He never played with anyone else
-
I listed Riley because he was committed to UT Threw in William Cole as perhaps the biggest named kid to transfer. Never played a game but did practice Purposely didn't mention any JuCo's

Jordan Case started out at Sul Ross but transferred after 1 year when they cut scholarships. Backed up Ken Washington for 1 or 2 years before getting his shot Riley Dodge didn't hang around long but was an impact The biggest name/highest profile kid out of High School hailed from Cedar Hill, TX. Career had already been derailed by off the field issue(s) and injuries.

He missed at least 5 games due to injury.
