  1. Directv has it listed on ch. 788 in Denton, but it is ppv.
  2. I think this two game stretch, against FIU tonight and WKU in two weeks, probably represents our two most winable games left on the schedule. I hope our team can dig deep and earn a win tonight. If we are going to win this, we have to win it with are ground game. My best advice for the team: don't let Baine throw deep.
  3. Labeling fans "Dodge haters" just because they are demanding a standard of winning from our football team is irresponsible. It's like calling people like you, who will support Dodge regardless of our performance, "win haters".
  4. I agree. He is the most logical and realistic choice.
  5. No thanks. If we have to go that far down the ladder to hire a name coach, I'd rather go with coach Fran. He's done it at TCU and he knows Texas recruiting.
  6. RV posted a new newsletter today on the athletic site. Can someone add a link?
  7. I'd take Chris Peterson over any other coach in football. With him as our coach we would be whipping SMU, beat TCU, and fighting toe to toe with Texas and Oklahoma within 7 years. The big question is, how do we make this happen?
  8. If Baine doesn't turn the ball over, I think our offense will be fine. I look for Baine to get us yards with his legs. Between Dunbar and Baine we should do well on the ground. Whatever Baine can add with his arm, I see as a bonus. Anyone know who our 5th string qb is? I hope he doesn't have to play, but the way this season is going, I'm just saying. That said, my biggest concern is still special teams.
  9. An excellent point. I don't know how I forgot to mention that.
  10. Happy Birthday RV. Thank you. Joe
  11. No. We didn't lose Saturday because of injuries. We were in that game until the end. We lost because we couldn't kick an extra point. We lost because we gave up over 100 yards in penalties. I don't expect our back ups to play at the same level as our injured starters, but if they are well coached, they shouldn't kill us with penalties either. And, we are now in our 5th season of watching this team struggle with special team. 7 wins. No excuses. When RV made his mandate, he didn't qualify it by saying,"as long as our team is healthy". Lets not change the standard just because we probably won't meet it. This program will never improve if that is the philosophy we use.
  12. Time to look at our 4th string QB, Chase "Mayhem" Baine. Maybe we can get All-State to buy the naming rights to our new stadium.
  13. I think it depends on which experienced coach they want to bring in. I think there are fans who won't just start handing over more money before they know who the next coach is. If North Texas can bring in Chris Peterson from Boise State, I'm sure many supporters will give more, we will win, and attendance will go up.
  14. I like most of you want Dodge to be successful, but we are at a point where even the most optimistic of NT's fans has to concede that 7 wins will not happen. I can't remember the last time we won back to back games. It's just not logical to believe we can go 6-1 to finish this season. At some point UNT will be getting a new football coach. I know the best coaches cost big money. Paying coaches big money is something our university has historically been unable or unwilling to do. Is there a limit on the amount of money the BOR can pay the football coach? Can anyone provide some insight into this issue? I think the answer to this question will help us identify the coaching candidates we should focus on.
  15. I hope we win a good game today, and you have a full recovery from your surgery.
  16. I don't think SMU would turn down the invite, but if they did, we go. The MWC is much better then the Belt. It's not even close. Air Force, Colorado State, Boise, Fresno, UNLV, Nevada, San Diego State, Wyoming, and New Mexico are better for North Texas.
  17. Undefeated in the Big East may not get them in the National Title game, but it does guarantee a BCS bowl. If the Big East extends an invite, TCU will accept it. The MWC would invite SMU or maybe UNT, because they won't want to lose the 5th largest media market in the country. If they take SMU, we will go to C-USA. They won't want to lose the DFW market either. Good luck TCU. I hope the Big East adds you.
  18. The win was great. It was important. But it was one win. We don't get to count it more then once in the win column. I hope it's the start of a streak, but it's not one right now. I think it's a little early to start making train analogies. Let focus on one game at a time. We should all enjoy this victory. But I also don't think we should act like it was the Superbowl.
  19. For me it's the turn overs. It all comes down to protecting the ball. The team did good tonight.
  20. Great win. Glad to see our team run the ball. I think FAU is one of the better teams in the Belt. This one makes me feel better about ULL coming to town. I hope our fans who were going to call it a season after the Army game decide to come out to Fouts next weekend.
  21. I voted for Saturday. I think with it being the opening of the stadium and having Houston as the opponent, we will be able to get it televised. Saturday will allow for a larger crowd, and I want to see the stadium full of loud Mean Green fans. I don't want it to look like SMU last night against TCU, where half the crowd is for the away team. I want Houston red in one small corner of the stadium. Lets send a message to the college football world, and possible recruits.
  22. For a game I didn't want anyone to win, it was a good game. But I don't think TCU is as good as their ranking. I think Air Force and maybe Utah will beat them this season. It was a good crowd, with lots of purple. Can SMU even come close to matching that attendance again this season? I don't think so. The crowd SMU had for Washington State was embarrassing. If we got Washington State at Fouts, North Texas would easily attract a crowd of 22 to 24k or more. Just my opinion.
  23. You are right. We all knew baseball was a goal for the program, but the 2013 date was a welcomed expectation. I think opening day at the new stadium would be a great time to announce the return of baseball. The game will hopefully be televised, and it would be a great opportunity to unveil the stadium renderings. My original post was referring to football. I kind of have tunnel vision right now.
  24. Didn't see this coming. Great news.
