  1. I assumed it would be HD, but to be honest, I didn't ask.
  2. A reliable source that I trust told me that RV has already met with the same company that created the turf for Fouts. So we should be getting new turf similar to that at Fouts. As for the scoreboard, another source that I trust has told me we are getting a new board, and it will be bigger and nicer then the one at Fouts. How much bigger and nicer, I don't know. We will all know for sure in a few months.
  3. Congratulations to all the Mean Green who made the list. I was a little disappointed Dunbar's 270 and 3 tds against a bowl bound Kansas State team didn't get some kind of recognition.
  4. I'd really like to know who recruited this kid. This looks like a great pick up.
  5. It was a great night at the Super Pit. Congratulations to the mens basketball team. Odufuwa had a great game. I wish we had more students at the game, but most are probably away for Christmas.
  6. I can't see any teams in C-USA west leaving for the MWC. Their fans call it the Mwac now. If the MWC decides to expand to 12 teams, I believe North Texas will be in the mix, if for no other reason then a lack of options out west. All the WAC has left to pick from is, Utah State, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Idaho, and LA Tech. If the MWC wants Utah St., I'm sure they will join. New Mexico will never let New Mexico State in. San Jose can barely keep the doors open, and California is in financial trouble. I doubt the MWac sees trips to the Kibbie Dome as adding prestige to their conference. LA Tech is farther east then UNT and offers no market. If the MWC chooses to expand to 12, the laxk of interest from C-USA west schools, and the poor options left in the WAC, should lead the MWC to turn to North Texas. I'd like to go to C-USA too, but I don't see this going in that direction. That said, this new configuration of the MWC (Colorado St., Air Force, Wyoming, San Diego State, Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico State, UNLV, with the addition of UNT and another school- USU) is still a major improvement over the Sun Belt. Lets hope the MWC wants to be a 12 team conference with a championship game.
  7. If true, how then can Texas State and UTSA move up, if the WAC will no longer be a recognized conference?
  8. This guy doesn't claim he has information regarding Utah State or UTEP being targeted by the MWC. The way I read it, I think it is his opinion that they will look at those teams first. I just can't see UTEP leaving C-USA, and I can't see the MWC giving up the DFW market. I have Directv, and the Mountain is one of the channels. The MWC needs DFW for the Mountain. With TCU gone, I can't see Directv keeping the Mountain in Dallas unless the MWC adds another local team. Let them take some time and evaluate their situation. In that time we will continue to improve our programs and create some distance from other possible candidates.
  9. At first glance, I thought we could do better on this hire, but I decided to do a little research before getting on here and throwing a fit. I'm glad I did. Yes, WKU's record last season was bad, and their defense gave up lots of points, but they did make great improvements. Under Bowen, WKU ranked better then North Texas in several defensive categories. Not bad for his first year at the school. With his Big 12 experience, and knowledge of recruiting the midwest, he should be great for us.
  10. Yes. It appears RV and Rawlins have hit a home run. On Saturday I wrote several rants, angry about how Canales was getting the shaft. Fresh from the KSU vs. NT game, I just couldn't understand why. I want to apologize for those rants. RV must have understood the dynamics of the changing TCU situation. In light of the new shift in realignment, McCarney is a better option and should only enhance our position should realignment reach us. McCarney has already impressed me with his decision to keep Canales as his OC. I just hope Canales stays for a long time. I thought Hines did a great job calling plays over the last few games. I hope McCarney will keep him as WR coach and have him and Canales keep handling the offense. I really like what are offense was doing over the last few weeks. What have we averaged over that time? About 36 points a game?
  11. Dunbar currently leads the nation in total yards with 1885 Yards. He is also third in the nation in rushing yards. Congratulations Lance, and the O-line.
  12. I'm glad to vote yes. The teams that will be in the MWC are still far better then what we have in the Sun Belt. Boise St. and Nevada were both ranked this season. I think our fan base would get more excited about teams like Air Force, Boise, Nevada, Fresno St, Colorado St., and Wyoming coming to Denton, verses teams like ULL and ULM. I think the jump in the level of competition would also improve recruiting. I was not a fan of the McCarney hire, but in light of a possible opening for a DFW team in the MWC, the additon of Urban Myer's assistant head coach can't hurt our chances of getting an invite. The report I saw on ESPN Dallas read that the MWC has started contacting possible replacements. Does anyone know if we have been contacted?
  13. Does anyone know the last time a North Texas offense put up 41 on a BCS conference team headed to a bowl? I don't know if we have ever done that. I'm not happy about the McCarney hire, but if he keeps Canales and Hines he would look smart and win over some of us who are angry.
  14. Do you always question the commitment of fans when you don't like their opinions? I'm not happy about hiring coach McCarney. I've been to every North Texas home football game for years, and some of the away games too. I stay until the end of every game, while others leave early. I go to many of the basketball games. Watching UNT beat Tech was great. I wear North Texas T-shirts to work every Friday, trying to promote our teams in Fort Worth. I bought my house because it has a view of the new stadium from the back yard. I don't hold every fan to my standard of support. I'm know there are fans who do much more then I do. I appreciate any support we get from every fan. I don't care if they give a $1,000,000 a year or only follow NT on the radio, lets not create more division on the board. We need all the fans we can get.
  15. I don't think so. I talked to many NT fans that were very unhappy with the McCarney situation. I could easily see a stadium that is 2/3 empty by the end of next season. If McCarney is the man, he better win from the start. Many fans in the Denton area are mad, and are not going to support this move for very long if we aren't winning. We won't be able to buy out McCarney. That means this will cost someone else their job. Last night was the best I've seen North Texas play in a very long time. Those guys showed an amazing amount of heart. Why they want to mess that up I have no idea.
  16. I don't think anyone hates McCarney. We just don't want him at North Texas. Canales has set the bar now. McCarney needs to lead NT to within 8 points of beating a Big 12 caliber team by the end of his first season. I hope he is contacted by one of the schools with recent opening, and decides not to come here. That said, I don't hate the man. I hate the choice.
  17. You need to contact members of the Board of Regents. I fear they are the only ones able to override a decision by RV, Rawlins, or Nienas. Anyone got their numbers?
  18. Tonight North Texas lost the game to Kansas State, but Mike Canales proved he can coach with anyone in the country. Canales out coached Hall of Fame coach Bill Snyder. We lost because because KSU's players were bigger and stronger, and we lost our starting QB. Tonight Mike Canales got more out of our players then any North Texas coach has in a very long time. I'm proud of this team and staff. Canales doesn't deserve to be fired. Do the right thing RV.
  19. If this game has no bearing on the coaching hire then we need different people in charge of the hiring.
  20. Canales, if he wasn't too angry with us from passing on him, and we could afford him. Fran, if he wasn't too busy coaching Texas State to a bowl game. Mangino, if he doesn't O.D. on cupcakes by then. Any former sub .500 FBS coach that nobody else wants to hire and is a position coach somewhere would also do, if we want to stay at the bottom of the college football world.
  21. I totally agree. If the powers that be are so pig headed that they hire McCaeney, then they can go out the door with him, if he doesn't win. To say I am mad about this is an understatement. If McCarney is the man, I believe our program will continue to struggle, and have little hope of competing against Houston next season.
  22. If an offer has been made to McCarney, rescind it now. That is my appeal to RV.
  23. I will continue to support this program after the hire, but I reserve the right to challenge questionable hires. If people want to shut me up, Win, and win often. I'll be a fan of this program long after McCarney is gone, and after our leadership at the university is gone.
  24. Mark Mangino did wonders at Kansas. Has he been looked at by Nienas or our Athletic Department? I'd be very happy if we hired him to be our new coach.
  25. I don't feel McCarney gives us much of a chance to beat Houston when we open our stadium. After we turn around and lose to Indiana, we will probably be looking at the crowds dwindle. By the end of the season, we will probably see our usual down year crowds of 12,000. How bad will that be? A brand new stadium, 2/3 empty, with a new coach most didn't want and we can't afford to buy out. If this likely cenario plays out, people at the athletic center will be pointing fingers trying to save their jobs. If McCarney was the best coach Nienas could find us, then he didn't look very hard. Yeah McCarney took Iowa State to a bowl in like 6 of his 12 seasons at Iowa State, but the Big 12 has like 9 bowl ties. That means for half of his time coaching at Iowa State his teams finished in the bottom 3?! Don't hire McCarney.
