  1. I don't want to sound like an ingrate, but I sure wish one of those games was on an actual ESPN channel... Maybe the Duece or the U? I wonder what they will be playing that's so much better then one of our games? I know we've been down for a few years, but we are one of the few FBS programs opening a new stadium this season.
  2. Greenjoe, I took a picture of the chart on Monday. It's on my cell. I can't figure out how to post it. If you PM me your number, I'll text it to you.
  3. I'm in row 4. No one was behind me when I picked my seats this morning, but I believe they will fill by the time we play Houston.
  4. Upper bowl, section 205, right above the entrance. I got 2 seats. I didn't want anyone standing in front of me, and I like to look down into the play where I can really see the holes develop. I got the chairbacks too. They seem comfortable. Can't wait to try them out.
  5. I got my seats this morning, and just want to say what a fantastic experience I had. I know RV keeps track of what's going on here. I just wan't say thanks. You guys really run a class act. As a recent grad and a first time season ticket holder, I rank pretty low in the priority points area, but I was treated wonderfully. Keep up the great work.
  6. I don't think it is a question of character. At the end of the day coach Mac like everyone else has to provide for his family as best he can. His paycheck at UNT is very nice, but if given the chance to triple it, I wouldn't hold it against him. In this age of instant information, nothing important can stay secret for very long. Two years ago it was USC... Last season Auburn... Now Ohio State. Have we reached a point where most of the big boys will take turns being on probation? Personally, I think we will start to see two and three programs a season run into trouble. Having said that, I don't see McCarney going anywhere, at least not now. I hope he can turn this program into the kind of winner we've never been, the kind that plays in major bowls, and busts the BCS. And, I hope North Texas will be the last stop in his career.
  7. It looks great! I already set it as the background on my computer. I just wish the eagle would land on our new helmets.
  8. Thanks for posting the chart.
  9. I don't have a facebook account. Could you post the chart on the blog for those of us who are technologically challenged? Thanks.
  10. Any updates on the selection process today?
  11. I was over at the Barnes and Noble today and decided to see if I could find the Sporting News, and compare it to other football magazines. I don't think any of us expected to be picked as a bowl team this season. I found the Sporting News and Lindey's college football preview mags. Lindey's was picking us to finish just ahead of WKU. Although they feel McCarney will do great thing for North Texas, they just can't see him doing it in his first season. We all know the Sporting News picked us to finish 3rd in the Sun Belt and go to the N.O. Bowl. After reading their article I found out why. The SN is giving North Texas alot of credit for keeping Canales, and hiring exceptional assistants like Bowen. I don't know if that is a complement to the staff McCarney has assembled, or a slap in the face to the level of competition in the Sun Belt. Lindey's didn't even mention our assistant coaches. I'm guessing Phil Steele will also pick us a little higher then most other publications. Steele does his homework too. North Texas bowling in 2011?!!! It's a reach, but hey, why not North Texas?
  12. I just got back from the new stadium. I had to go see first hand how that field looks. It is nice. While I was there, I was able to walk around the site a little. Behind the visitors side, they are working on the landscaping. Lighted sidewalks extend into the rolling hills of the old Eagle Point Golf Course, allowing for perfect tree shaded views of the stadium. Even new trees have been planted. From the Alumni Pavilion you have a wonderful view of the video board. I thought the secondary scoreboard would block the view, but it does not. On the home side the two ponds look nice, and they are putting down grass right now. The stadium is wonderful. I truly feel it will be one of the top college stadiums in the southwest. I have to give RV and the administration a lot of credit for not stopping with just the stadium. With this creation, UNT is playing to their strengths. We have land around our stadium, and are going to use that land to enhance the gameday experience for every fan. SMU, TCU, and most other universities don't have land available to create what our university is creating. Like I said, I feel our stadium will be one of the finest in the southwest, but I honestly believe our gameday experience will rank as one of the greatest in all of college football. The web cam can't show it, but what is being created around the stadium is impressive too. Fans like me, who tailgate will be in heaven, and Houston will leave Denton green with envy. We are getting more than a new stadium. It really is a football venue. I just thought you guys might want to hear about this.
  13. I love it. Just wondering how they will deal with the logos and endzones. I don't see "North Texas" or "Mean Green" in the endzones. Will they paint them in? Logo on the 50, hash marks, and yard numbers are also missing. By the way, will this field have Sun Belt logos, or will it be like Fouts, where it can be easily painted over or replaced?
  14. I hope that is wrong. Between the pillars of that structure is a lot wider then 32 feet.
  15. lol... I hope you are right ad I am wrong.
  16. I'd love to get my hands on a North Texas Golf Baseball Cap. Do they make them? Nike is big in golf, and now that they are the official producers of our athletic gear, will they get behind our reemerging golf program? It would be nice.
  17. Yes, it was the best year for North Texas golf in quite a while. Things are looking up for North Texas golf. Next year should be great for us. Maybe a top 25 ranking and a trip to the national tournament. Congratulations Mean Green!
  18. Glad to see them up. It gives reference point for gauging the size of our new video board. Goal posts are a little over 23" wide. The space between the pillars is about twice that of the posts. It looks like the board will be between 48" to 50" wide and about 25" tall. Does that sound about right to you guys? Anyone with some inside information?
  19. Do you have a source for this number? Last I heard the place would seat 29,850 and had standing room only for about another 4,500.
  20. They said the commercial will start airing around DFW in June. Have they said which channels will be airing it, or if there are plans to air it in other cities? Is it the first in a series of commercials?
  21. I liked the report too, but what's with some of the numbers? I thought the stadium cost $78,000,000, and would seat 29,850. Can anyone explain these discrepancies in the report?
  22. Best Game- 2006, 24-6 win over smu. Maybe our biggest win in the series. Their team was really awful. Worst Game- 2005, 54-2 lose to Tulsa. That games was the start of our long painful downturn we are still trying to correct. Worst Coached Game- 2009, 17-13 lose to Army. Up 13-10 on the Army 16 yard line, Dodge called two timeouts in a row. Knott's low field goal attempt gets blocked. Steelman's 55 yard run puts Army on the North Texas 7 yard line. Two plays latter Army takes the lead with a touchdown. On the second play of our last drive R. Dodge throws an INT, icing the game. It was very sad night. ai don't know when Dodge lost the confidence of his players, but looking back, that might have been the night he lost mine. I continued to support our team and him as our coach, but felt we needed to move in a new direction.
  23. Is this a new phenomenon? I've never played at or been to a stadium where the logo faces the visitor's side. Come on guys. Go look at images of Amon Carter and Ford stadium, both have their logos facing the home side where the press box and suites are located.
  24. Every drawing I've seen of the stadium, shows the SOW logo on the 50. I think that is great, but every drawing also has the logo upside down for fans on the home side. I'm sure when the field is installed, the logo will face the home side, but why have they never corrected this on the drawings or the seating chart? Just wondering.
  25. Does anyone know how many seats are in each of the sections at the stadium? Club? Green? Black?
