  1. What you say is true, but there is also production. Although Dunbar will be productive, we need another play-maker on the field with him. Carey was that play-maker that could take pressure off of Dunbar, and gave Thompson a reliable target. We must find someone or a few others that can pick up the production that will be lost by the departure of Carey. As bad as I make this sound, it's not the end of our season. I take comfort in having Canales as our OC. I have faith in him to solve this problem and make this offense work.
  2. Vito seems to think this is where we got the scholarship for Washington. Many were wondering where this mystery ship came from. My link
  3. I have not looked at the roster since the Spring Game. It appears my day is getting worse...
  4. I remember reading somewhere that Outlaw sat out last season, but would be back this year. He did play in the Spring Game, and Dave Campbell has him as a starter this season, although they listed him as a sophomore, and I'm almost certain that is incorrect.
  5. Chancellor will definitely have to step up and be in the 2 deep. I'm sure Osborn will be the backup this season, so Baine can move back to WR and help with the depth issue.
  6. I'm angry, but not at coach Mac. I'm sure he didn't dismiss Carey for helping old ladies across the street. It's just a bad situation, and not something I expected from Carey. The kid could have been a legend at North Texas. Just plan sad. I don't want to speculate, but whatever Carey did, must have been pretty bad for Mac to skip the suspension penalty and go straight to dismissal.
  7. lol!... I was thinking the same thing!
  8. I agree. Wright has something special.
  9. You're going to have to rethink the Darius Carey part of this.
  10. I just read my copy of Dave Campbell yesterday, and Carey talked about being a leader this season. This is not how an All-Conference WR should lead. It's not going to be a good day around my house. Who is going to step up and fill this large void? After Dunbar, Carey was our biggest playmaker on offense. Does Chris Bynes move into this spot?
  11. I drove to Fort Worth everyday last week and didn't see one North Texas billboard. I watch T.V. all day during the summer and haven't seen the new Mean Green commercial once. What channel does the thing come on? Are there any billboards between Denton and Fort Worth? And, why did Carey have to be dismissed from the team?!
  12. What?!!!! What did he do?
  13. I agree with you. I think the secondary will be a strength this season. I think our LB corps will be better then expected too. The front four is where we really need Mac to work his defensive magic. Overall, we have a lot of guys returning who have see substantial playing time on both sides of the ball, just not at quarterback. I hope coach Mac gets the kind of results he is looking for out of these summer workouts.
  14. On offense: Dunbar, and Thompson must be a leader too. He doesn't have to try and carry the team, but he must be vocal and make smart decisions with the ball. On defense: Phillips, and if Wright can play under control and not get unsportsmanlike penalties, I think he will be the biggest impact player on the defense. That guy has a nose for the ball, the acceleration to get there, and hits hard.
  15. Does anyone know how many season tickets have been sold now? The chart looks like most sections between the 25's are between 30% and 50% full.
  16. Looks like a solid pick up to me. The kid was carrying 3 AQ offers (Minnesota, Virginia, and Washington State), along with an offer from Air Force. He must be a young man of good character for him to have an offer from Air Force. It is interesting that he had no offers from Texas schools including us. Why were we not after him earlier?
  17. I agree. It could be a great event. Do we have an alumni chapter in Tulsa, or any alum that can provide information about places to go?
  18. I forgot to ask. Did you see any advertisements for the North Texas football program and stadium?
  19. Good find. I'm going to pick up a copy when I get back in town.
  20. Guess we should pull for the Kansas defense to play well this season. How much does North Texas pay Bowen, and how much does the D.C. make at Kansas? Not close is it?
  21. I agree. WKU's red blob is the weirdest college mascot, and it didn't make the list. What is that thing anyway? It looks like the Muppet version of a pedophile.
  22. lol... I agree. I'd rather focus on planning our bright future. We can't change the past. Why waste time arguing about it.
  23. I agree with you. That is why I feel it is important that we reach out to other communities as well as DFW. If we target the areas of Gainsville, Decatur, and McKinney we will reach a population less likely to attend sporting events in Dallas. For these communities, North Texas athletics are the only game in town, when it comes to major NCAA athletics. We have large alumni bases in these communities, and many of their high school students will attend UNT. Making these communities fans of North Texas and it's athletic programs should be a high priority. If we gain substantial support from these populations, I believe our large alumni base in DFW will increase their support and involvement in North Texas. When colleges have sellout games they don't care where the fans came from. The Dallas news stations will report on a sellout game, and they won't care what direction the fans drove in from. Sellouts get the attention of everyone.
  24. Tulsa's site shows the game at 6p.m. Hope you will still be able to make it.
  25. Everyone expects the new stadium and the addition of coach Mac to increase our home attendance this season. My question is will it lead to an increase in away game attendance. Our closest non-conference game will be at Tulsa. That's not too far of a drive for most of our fans. Will we see a bump in Mean Green fans attending this game? I know I'm planning on being there, but is this something the athletic department and we as a fan base are going to make a priority? In addition to increasing our home attendance, making this one of their highest attended games of the season should be a goal of ours.
