  1. Even though the B.R. has the old UNT helmet and never has all the information correct on any story they have ever done, it doesn't change the fact that this time, they are right. Our helmets are plain. I think we could work a compromise. I wouldn't mind the "UNT" logo, with the eagle wings coming out of the top. I think that would look better then the plain "North Texas" on the side. When I get home, I'll draw it up and add it to this post.
  2. As a hispanic Texan, I like the Voter ID law. Only people who are up to something shady would have a problem with trying to defend the integrity of our elections. I don't think it unfaily targets poor people, the elderly, or minorities. It targets people who may want to illegaly influence the outcome of an election. Poor people manage to obtain Lonestar Cards everday. Old people somehow manage to get their medicare. Minorites, like myself, already manage to earn educations, work, and vote. And, can you believe I did it on my own without the help of the government. Wow! Liberals must hate that. The Justice Department = the Demoratic Policy Enforcment Department. What a joke...
  3. It hasn't been officially approved yet, but the site right across from Apogee is ready whenever they act. Welcome to the board.
  4. Hustle... Down the stretch, WKU just out hustled us. This is a game we should have won. That's some record WKU will be taking to the Tourney... Sad.
  5. Another great win tonight. There was a decent crowd at the Union for the Syndicate Watch Party, and they had free pizza and drinks for the students.
  6. Great game. Things seem, to be lining up for our team. Can't wait for ASU. It's going to be a long day at work tomorrow.
  7. Believe it. Many students will be interested in this. You older guys should give them a listen.
  8. Today, I noticed a fenced off area next to Fouts and the freeway. There also seems to be some heavey equipment at the site. Could this be the start of the bridge construction?
  9. I heard a rumor from a very reliable source, that Reckless Kelly will be playing at the Green and White game.
  10. Gas cost about $1.60 a gallon when Bush left office, and my 7Ups were $2.50 a 12 pack. Yesterday, I paid $3.59 a gallon for gas, and last weekend my 12 pack of 7Up cost me $4.98. The price of everything (except my home value) is skyrocketing. My salery hasn't increased, but my Health Premiums have, thanks to Obamacare. It is my opinion that Americans have taken a pay cut, without having their saleries cut. I know he didn't create the mess, but at best his attempt to fix the economy has only made it worse. My wallet can't afford 4 more years of Obama. It's that simple.
  11. Sounds like a good question for the Podcast.
  12. Looking to add Texas State and UTSA is just wrong to me. It's too early for this kind of planning. Yes if we added them we would see their fans travel to our home games, and we could draw 26-29 thousand a game, and see about a fourth of our stadium filled with their fans. But, I'd rather focus on seeing how the alliance shakes out. Playing Rice, Tulsa, and UTEP, we would draw 26-29 thousand a games, and see the stands filled with 90 to 95% of our fans. I don't care that UTSA and Texas State will travel, and Rice and Tulsa may not. Our goal should be to fill Apogee with our fans, and our fans will not come out in numbers to watch us play a Southland conference schedule. I wonder if some of you UTSA/TSU advocates were against moving out of the Southland too. This isn't about pulling an SMU on these programs, it's about developing UNT into the best program it can be. We built a grand stadium, and we got a great coach, lets think bigger. Playing in the same conference with UTSA and Texas State is not in the best interest of North Texas at this time. If you want to see Apogee empty, just add more FCS programs to the Sun Belt. That's not how you grow in college football. I hope the alliance picks their expansion candidates soon.
  13. I think it's too early to focus on adding the twins. We could have a chance to build rivalries with Rice and UTEP, as well as Tulsa. That would be much better in my book. If the door to the alliance is closed to us, after this round of realignment, than we can look at whether or not the Sun Belt needs to expand and where. I think it's way too early to start adding teams.
  14. Neither. Texas has enough FBS programs. If I want to see the Southwest Texas play in Denton, I'll watch Necessary Roughness. As for UTSA, I don't need them either. I'd rather focus on thinking bigger. With Temple probably going to the Big East, our stock has to be going up with C-USA. I rather think about where we will be after this round of realignment is over. Things are looking better for for UNT, and if it goes our way, we shouldn't have to worry about playing in a conference with the twins.
  15. I too think this is good news for UNT. When this round of realignment is over, I don't know if there will be a big difference in the quality of football found in the MW/USA and the Big East. The biggest difference may end up being the quality of basketball and the T.V. contracts of each conference. I think that makes it very important for the alliance to add the largest media markets they can attract. Things are getting interesting.
  16. Something like this, but with real grass would be nice. Am I asking too much?
  17. In a 6 team pod I'd rather have MTSU over UAB. UNT, Rice, Tulsa, Tulane, S. Miss, and MTSU makes for a nice pod.
  18. I agree. We just need one more home game against a name team. Maybe, BYU. They still have five openings on their 2013 schedule. That would be a fun game.
  19. I like the 20 team model, and under that system this pod would look nice to me. Don't think it will happen this way, but I like it. UNT Tulsa Rice Tulane S. Miss
  20. I don't know if this has been posted already, but fbschedules.com is listing North Texas at Georgia 2013. I didn't know we were playing there. 2013 OOC 09/21 - at Georgia TBA - Ball State TBA - at Ohio
  21. An expansion of that magnitude would water down the conference and further the perception of the Sun Belt being a gateway conference. We do not know how many Sun Belt schools will be added to the new alliance. When the time comes, there will be plenty of willing candidates for the Sun Belt to choose from. I see no need to talk about a 16 team Sun Belt. To be totally honest, I think the idea of a WAC merger is bad. If the Sun Belt reached a point where a merger was necessary, the Belt should pursue a merger with the MAC first. But, with Benson now running the show, I'm sure that won't happen. Hopefully UNT will not be in the Belt when these choices need to be made.
  22. He does think ourside the box. I just don't like the way he thinks outside the box. I might feel better about the situation if Rawlins or RV would address the issue. Leaders at other Sun Belt universities have spoken about the Benson hire. I have not heard anything from Rawlins or RV. I'm not saying they have not commented on his hire, just that I have not read anything. The fact that you seem to believe the guy might work out, helps ease some of the sting, but I'm still not very happy.
  23. I believe you are right. I think the problem is 3/4 of the Sun Belt presidents didn't have have the best interest of UNT in mind when they hired Benson and approved his expansion plan. I just hope we are in the alliance when Benson starts adding new programs to the Belt. I'd really like to know how Rawlins and RV feel about Benson running the show.
  24. I don't want Benson running the Belt. I'm not interested in a WAC/Belt hybrid. Now more then ever I hope we can get into the alliance.
  25. I refuse to consider this possibility. I'm trying to stay as positive as I can. If it all goes horribly wrong, I'll be back to make a post.
