  1. Former Big 12 coach...
  2. I don't know man. Capel would bring a lot of baggage. That whole scandle at OU is really hard to overlook.
  3. I like Monson too. I don't think his salary is a stretch. He made $295,054 last season. He is a North West guy, and may not want to leave Long Beach to move that far from home. Is there any chance we could talk Steve Prohm away from Murray State? The guy made $205,000 and posted a 31-2 record in his first season, and won his first round Tourney game. And, he's only about 37 years old.
  4. I'm torn on UTSA... They haven't done anything yet, and probably wont for a long time. I think Texas has enough FBS schools already, and UTSA and Texas State don't need to be FBS. On the other hand... They are going to be an FBS team whether I like it or not, and another Texas team would be nice. I'd probably prefer traveling to San Antonio every other year. I can't say the same about Ruston. Is neither an option?
  5. We really need to land this guy, with Young off to LA Tech. Did we every offer him?
  6. If it's Scotty, I'm very happy. Truth is, any time I hear a big time transfer is looking to come to UNT, I'm happy. McCarney is really making waves for good ol' UNT.
  7. LOL! I love it. Happy Easter everyone.
  8. I think you are absolutly right. GSU was added now to help them avoid a larger buyout later. I just think we still should have waited. I don't care if GSU would have to pay more later to join the Sun Belt. I believe the Sun Belt will have lots of options when the other conferences are done with expansion. Are we going to let FCS conferences force our hand, or our we going to control the situation? I think this was a weak move by the Sun Belt, under Benson's direction.
  9. Yes, and Southwestern is the oldest university in Texas. It dates back to 1840 and was chartered by the Republic of Texas.
  10. I can't see any way the Belt falls below 8 teams after the dust has settled. If the conference still wanted to expand there will be plenty of candidates for the Belt to chose from. Evaluate the best programs at that time. I see no need to expand right now just to appear proactive. Adding GSU now, and saving them money on their buyout, makes them look poor and the Belt look bush league. Adding GSU later after accessing all the avalible candidates, will cost GSU more, but it would project an image of the Belt as calculating and thorough in there expansion and desirable to other programs. These programs won't have other options. The Sun Belt will be the only lifeboat, and there will not be enough seats for everyone. The conference can afford to be patient and selective. Just my opinion.
  11. I agree. UTSA has zero room to be bad mouthing others. Even programs like LA Tech. But, if they really feel the need to, go do it on the WAC board. Furthermore, I have yet to see any news confirming C-USA or MWC officials visited Texas State. I've only heard about the UNLV prez being on their campus. If they were getting a real visit, I'd think a few more people would have been with him. My point is he could have been there for any number of reasons. I guess Texas State doesn't want to appear to be on the outside looking in.
  12. I don't care who they add, as long as UNT is gone. It appears that under Benson, the Belt is determined to remain a gateway conference for the FCS.
  13. Perhaps someone in the know can PM me with their inside information, and put my mind to rest.
  14. UPDATE) 9:00pm "With the help of our comrads over at bobcatreport.com, late this evening, IRS has confirmed that a SPECIAL University of Texas System Board of Regents meeting has been called and set for Thursday, April 12th of next week. As of right now, there appear to be two possible options on the table. This could be an announcement for UTEP who has been rumored to possibly be jumping to the MWC and could clear the way for UTSA to be added and replace The Miners in C-USA. Or, UTSA could very well be receiving an outright bid to one of the two conferences. Specifics of the meeting are not being discussed, but it is to occur the day after MWC/C-USA officials finish their visit of Louisiana Tech, next Wednesday. UTSA Athletic Director Lynn Hickey was reached for comment also late this evening, but chose to give none and stated it would be inappropriate to comment on the matter at this time." Any word on our situation? I'll be really mad if these guys get in and we don't. Is our board meeting next week too?
  15. North Texas... The Mean Green Nation! or North Texas... The Mean Green Republic!
  16. My old high school built a $24 million stadium about 4 years ago, that is better than some of the stadiums in the Sun Belt. The stadiun only seats 10,000, but it is very nice for a small school district.
  17. Sad to see her go. Who will RV find to replace her?
  18. Give every kid that catches a Mean Green extra point receives a "North Texas Extra Point" mini-ball, that they can get autograghed by players. It wouldn't require more then 5 or 6 a game.
  19. I like that. At what site did you find those helmets?
  20. I think something like this would be nice. Not flashy. Kind of traditional looking. Has both our letters and wings.
  21. In the last tourney, the UNT Mens' Golf Team took 3rd place, and finished ahead of 5 ranked teams, including #9 Georga Tech. Great job guys! Story
  22. In a recent article the president of Tulane spoke about their movement towards building a new on campus stadium. I know people from Tulane visited Apogee a while back. Does anyone know if their president was in ther group? I didn't realize he was the chair of the C-USA board. Maybe we have already had our visit from the alliance, and everything is being kept quite. Here is a link to the article My link
  23. Congratulations. I'm always happy when a fellow UNT alum excells.
  24. Are you guessing, or do you know?
