  1. Any news on Benford? Any chance he will be out long term?
  2. I think North Texas is in a good spot. In the end I think the Big East, C-USA and the MWC all covet the Houston (#10) and Dallas (#5) markets. In Houston there is only U of Houston and Rice. In Dallas there is only UNT and SMU. The demand is greater then the supply. We have to be careful not to get stuck in the conference that becomes the next Sun Belt. If Rice and North Texas stick together both will come out winners in the end.
  3. Because Tulsa, Sothern Miss, Rice, UTSA, and LA Tech will all accept an invitation if they get one. The NBE still have U Conn and Cinci for now. This could be the new look of the Big East if Houston and SMU leave for the MWC with UTEP: Big East U Conn Cincinatti South Florida Memphis ECU Central Florida Tulane Navy (maybe) Dan Diego State (maybe) North Texas Rice Tulsa Southern Mississippi LA Tech (maybe) While C-USA could look more like the Sun Belt: C-USA East Marshall UAB FIU FAU ODU Charlotte West UTSA MTSU LA Tech (maybe) ULL Arkansas State Texas State Don't get me wrong. I like the current lineup for C-USA West. But, if C-USA ends up looking something like what I just listed, I'd rather be in the New Big East.
  4. I don't think they can. If Houston, SMU, SDSU, and even UTSA go to the MWC, UNT will get called up to the NBE with Rice, Tulsa, and Southerm Miss. The NBE needs Dallas (#5) and Houston (#10) for their media markets. I think we will be okay when the dust settles.
  5. I do not believe this season can be turned around while Benford is still our coach. This team has that talent to turn the season around, win the Sun Belt tourny, and go to the NCAA tourny, but only if Benford is replaced right now. Last night North Texas was embarrassed on national T.V. RV needs to deal with this situation now. I support this team, but I cannot support watching everything Jones built over the past decade go down in flames. It is time to stop making excuses for Benford and this season. Fire him. Reassign him. I don't care. Just don't let him near the bench ever again.
  6. There needs to be some accountibility for the start to this season. I for one will not be happy with a record in the .500 area. This team was built to win the western division and get to the NCAA Tourny. We know what our players can do, so I'm going to blame Benford. I wish our leadership would would hold him to a higher standard. I know he is a first year coach, but the guy was handed a perfect situation for winning, and has done nothing. I think most fans believed North Texas would be the best college basketball team in DFW. Right now SMU, TCU, and UTA are all better. In my opinion that is on Benford. Something needs to be done soon.
  7. Great topic. My pick is the holder on field goals and extra points. That poor guy never gets mentioned unless it's a bad kick, then everyone looks at him like he farted in church. Most of the time, it's not even his fault. He's just trying to handle a bad snap or the kicker choked. I don't even know who it is on our team.
  8. Hey, I'm out of town for Christmas. Is it snowing in Denton?
  9. Merry Christmas everyone. The light display was great.
  10. Never thought I'd be writing this after a win, but our great collection of talent is quickly becoming a terrible joke. Something must be done about this. Thursday is going to be one of the most embarrassing nights in the history of the Super Pit if we play the way we did today.
  11. I don't even know where to start... We can't even beat a young ULL team that will probably finish somewhere in the middle of the standings, AND WE PLAYED THEM AT THE PIT!
  12. I like having regional programs, but that group is just too regional, and some of those programs shouldn't be on the list. A C-USA West merger with the MWC would be a better option. Southwest Division UNT/Tulsa UTEP/New Mexico Rice/UTSA Southern Miss/LA Tech Mountain West Division UNLV/Nevada Fresno St./SJSU Wyoming/Utah St. CO St./Air Force Hawaii No crossover games, just a championship game.
  13. Scott Cross really impressed me last night. Jones left a loaded team here in Denton. I think Cross could get it done. The guy wouldn't ever have to move his family.
  14. I totally agree with your statement. I wish Glad to be Green would come on the board and post a statement that might ease some of our troubles. I honestly don't know if there is anything he can write that will change the way fans are feeling right now.
  15. I watched the game on T.V. and we looked terrible. We looked bigger, stronger, and more athletic, but we looked terrible. UTA looked prepared. We did not. I don't know if that is because of coaching or not, but we looked terrible. We are too talented to accept losing this game. If Jones was still our coach would we still be 3-4 right now? I don't think so.
  16. We don't need Texas State.
  17. Of course... Yes, things are changing again, but it could be worse. We could still be in the Belt. Teams like Troy, Arkansas State, WKU, and ULL all wish they were in our situation right now. At this point the Sun Belt could go the way of the WAC. If there is movement to the MWC, I see most of the Western programs from C-USA going. I can't believe Tulsa wants to be that far out on an island without a travel partner, or UTEP wants to play in a conference with no other Texas teams. If the MWC raids C-USA, TULSA, UTEP, UNT, Rice, and UTSA will probably all get in. Southern Miss and LA Tech might go too. The MWC with these additions would give the new Big East a run for their money.
  18. The lighting at the Super pit looks great on T.V. tonight. I wish Benford would not rotate players in so much. Let some of our guys get into the flow of the game.
  19. Nah... that would be the Big East teams trying to get into one of the power five conferences. We're still trying to earn approval and hang out with the uncool kids, that dream of hanging out with the cool kids. But, you are right, they keep moving to another spot on the playground.
  20. Kind of reminds me of a deck of cards. I don't like it.
  21. I don't know where we would put this kid, but he seems gifted. In their loss to Angleton on Friday. Jordan Wood had 50 carries for 362 yards and 6 touchdowns. The Angleton RB Cooper seems good too. Here is a story on the game. http://www.yourhoustonnews.com/friendswood/sports/football-friendswood-falls-to-angleton/article_57015720-696e-53e1-a17d-b7251169cf34.html
  22. The guy is a 6'2" 180 pound senior QB at Friendswood. He's has thrown for 889 yards on 69 completions , and ran for 1,725 yards on 161 carries this season. He has 10 passing TDs and 2 interceptions, and 30 touchdowns rushing the ball. This past Friday, he had a 44 yard TD run. So far I don't think the kid has any scholarship offers. He seems to be a very good athlete. I hope coach Mac has some people giving him a look.
  23. I think it is. I listened to the McCarney's post game interview and he seemed to have a more frustrated tone then usual. He called out our defenders for not attacking and being out of position.
  24. I don't know if I have a superstition... those things usually lead to a victory. I do hang my battle flag in the front yard on game day, but that's more of a habit. Although, if I found a routine that led to more wins, I'd gladly make it my superstition.
