  1. I say we just go back to the Flying Worm helmets and unifroms.
  2. I'm not down on this program. I think Mac has it going in the right direction. But, I'm not going to call a screw up a total success. By the way, profanity is not a substitute for facts. We will just have to agree to have different opinions about the webcast.
  3. I cringe when I see that commercial. At this point I belive that line is a negative for our program. Especially when you have a program like TCU just down the street beating Kansas. 8-17 overall and 3-11 in the Sun belt, with the "Most talented team in UNT history"? Benford needs to go.
  4. So, the people "we" brought in to broadcast the event screwed it up, but that's not our fault? Did SMU make us use them? Lets be honest here. It was a bad decision by someone at UNT. At best, we only got it half right. The video did look great. But 50% isn't a passing grade, and I really don't care if other programs dropped the ball too.
  5. Back to the topic... I'll give the athletic department an E for effort, but a D- for execution. The idea of streaming live coverage of the signing day event was great. It's the kind of event that could generate fan and recruit interest. We just didn't pull it off. On a positive note, the video looked great. I'm sure RV has already chewed on some rears over the audio issues.
  6. Last night I went to the Chicken Express by UNT. I love that place. I think they have more UNT stuff on their walls then all the other businesses in Denton combined. They even have last season's football poster framed on their wall. Does anyone know if the owner is a Mean Green Club member or a poster here on Go Mean Green?
  7. I knew we would be seeing a schedule like this for a while, but now it is really sinking in. This schedule, Apogee stadium, and watching our new recruits turn down offers from Kansas State and canceling trips to TCU, are all signs pointing to one thing. North Texas is a program on the rise. Go Mean Green!!!
  8. Found this posted on the C-USA board. Hope it is true. via Twitter: Bruce Van De Velde ‏@LATechAD Conference USA opponents for LA Tech and east west divisional lineups will be announced on Wednesday. Good news.
  9. I'm sure UNT had no interest in adding Texas State or UTSA to the Sun Belt. Why would we? Texas has enough FBS programs already. UNT has wanted in a conference with established regional rivals. The Sun Belt was never going to be able to lure Rice, UTEP, or Tulsa away from C-USA. I am warming up to UTSA. I like San Antonio.
  10. The term "further watering down" refers to the loss of C-USA teams and replacing them with programs that won't excite our fan base. Tulane, ECU, and now maybe Tulsa were all teams most of our fans looked forward to being in a conference with. It isn't a knock on the Sun Belt, but many graduates and fans, really don't care for most of the teams in the Sun Belt. Many people that follow college football in Texas don't know who Arkansas State is, and even fewer care. We have a large alumni base in the Dallas/Fort Worth region. I could care less where Sagarin rates teams. I care that UNT can conference with programs our alumni and fan base perceive to be higher up on the food chain.
  11. I don't think any of us were expecting a coach from South Alabama. I hope he is good. Real good. I don't care that he doesn't bring the name or experience of Riddle, if he can recruit and coach. I wish him the best. Welcome coach Perry.
  12. C-USA doesn't need to expand. As long as we have 12, we should be fine. I'm good with an odd number of members. I think it would be better then further watering down C-USA. Ever time the new C-USA expands, it becomes more like the old Sun Belt. We need to sit tight. I think Tulsa may be the last chess piece on the board for the NBE, and we will finally have some stability. I'd hate to lose Tulsa, but UNT would still be in a good western division with Rice, UTEP, LA Tech, UTSA, and maybe Southern Miss
  13. The only problem we have at UNT is we don't win enough. We are not cursed. No other program can hold us back. Our future has always been in our hands. The hands of the UNT alumi, students, and administration. We just have to win against the teams in our conference and the better teams on our schedules. As alumi and fans, we just need to support our university as best we can, and always be proud of our connections to UNT. Of course ya'll already know this. There is one thing I know about true Mean Green fans, and that is, we don't quit. This football program will become the institution we all know it can be. I believe that.
  14. I don't know... Benford was handed a great collection of talent, that many believed would have won the Sun Belt West under Johnny Jones. In my opinion, Benford was in a better position then Stephens, and that makes him a worse coach. I'm still waiting for the athletic department to address the failures of this basketball season. If they wait much longer, it will be too late. This team has no business in last place. Benford needs to go.
  15. I don't think anyone is surpised to see Tulsa is a top target. C-USA West has a nice lineup, but I can understand why Tulsa would want to get a spot in the NBE. Still too many "if" posibilities for us to see how this is going to effect UNT.
  16. Good win. We need many more of these against the better programs in the Sun Belt. Congratulations.
  17. I think this is about the best news we could hope for right now. We need stability and time to improve our program and help to improve the strength of C-USA.
  18. ZED is fast. He hit that guy hard on the kickoff. Just needs to wrap up.
  19. If that is allowed to happen, then everyone in our administration should be fired. Even under the worst of situations, North Texas' Dallas market will make it desirable. UAB and/or Marshall might get left out.
  20. Oh I agree with you. LA Tech is not Boise State, but some of their fans think they are. I think they are a good program, and they have done well with what they have, but some of their fans are crazy. You are right they are not in the Shreveport media market, yet you can't tell them that. There must be something in the water in Loiuisana. The ULL fans have issues too.
  21. I think we see this thing about the same. I really like the way C-USA West is going to look right now. If Boise staying in the MWC changes Houston's and SMU's opinion about being in the NBE, I think we can keep most of the teams from C-USA West together. I think UNT and Rice need to stick together like Houston and SMU are doing, for it to work.
  22. I got to disagree with you. This is just too big. UNT needs to stick with Rice and pimp our collective media markets in order to insure we do not get stuck back in a conference made up of most of the old Sun Belt members.
  23. LA Tech was ranked this season and has a decent football history with a few NFL Hall of Famers. They also have a history with some of the programs already in the NBE. Nothing against Arkansas State. I really respect your program and fans. You guys have always been a class act. I just don't think Arkansas State will be on the NBE's radar.
