Making the case for an indoor practice facility at North Texas
Side Show Joe replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Back in high school , when I played, no one had indoor facilities. Hell, we didn't even get clean water. Coach would say, "We won't always be the biggest, strongest, or fastest, but we will be better be the toughest". Having said that... If we need an indoor practice facility at North Texas to lure better recruits to our program, then I hope we get one.- 54 replies

Happ B-Day! untgeorge, NT1978, MeanGreenTexan, C Vo, Andrew
Side Show Joe replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Happy birthday guys! Make someone take you down to the stadium and get you a new Mean Green T-shirt. -
I watched it on the C-USA website. Coach Mac and Zach Orr both looked excited about the season, but didn't really discuss much. I thought the most interesting statement came from the commissioner. He said that C-USA is working on both of the new Florida bowls. We all knew C-USA was working on the Boca Bowl, but it seems C-USA is also working on the bowl at the Marlins Stadium in Miami. Did anyone else catch anything interesting that was said?

Idaho game- Best BBQ & Tex Mex in Denton
Side Show Joe replied to mdmeangreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Thanks, I'll do that during the school year. Since I still have a few weeks left before I go back to work, I think I'll smoke a brisket. I've never found BBQ I liked more than my family's, though Leon's in Galveston, and Joe's in Alvin are good. I guess I'm just partial to my family's recipe. -

I have to agree. Villa Grande is better then the other Mexican places in Denton. -
Big Ten Extends Relationship with the Heart of Dallas Bowl
Side Show Joe replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
This is great news. It will be even better if C-USA can retain a spot in the Armed Forces Bowl too. There is a chance we will be rotating with the Big 10 for that spot against the MWC. Also it appears the SEC will not extend their association with the BBVA Compass Bowl or the Independence Bowl. I'm sure the AAC is upset about this, but it could be good news for C-USA. We will see.- 8 replies

Idaho game- Best BBQ & Tex Mex in Denton
Side Show Joe replied to mdmeangreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm sure I'll catch grief from some of the Mean Green fans out there for saying this, but I can't find good B-B-Q or Mexican food anywhere around Denton. I had Cousins down in Fort Worth. I know Texas Monthly had named them as good B-B-Q, but for me, it was just okay. -

Need input regarding a C-USA Texas team trophy
Side Show Joe replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Or you could just let UTEP and UTSA play for the flag on Sept. 21st. Every team would have a chance to play for the flag this season under this plan, but there would be no guarantee every team gets a chance in future seasons.- 77 replies

Need input regarding a C-USA Texas team trophy
Side Show Joe replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
It's true, every team wouldn't always get a shot at the flag. Scheduling the team with the flag to play in the first Texas match-up game would help, but it still wouldn't insure every team gets to play for the flag. Here is the Texas Schedule for this season: Sept. 21 UTSA @ UTEP Oct. 12 Rice @ UTSA Oct. 26 UTEP @ Rice Oct. 31 Rice @ UNT Nov. 9 UTEP @ UNT Nov. 23 UTSA @ UNT I think in most seasons every teams would get a chance to play for the flag, but not having a guarantee of playing for the flag every season would certainly bring extra interest to the game when the flag is on the line. I think it would also give broadcasters a story to market and discuss.- 77 replies

Need input regarding a C-USA Texas team trophy
Side Show Joe replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I was thinking about something like a "Come and Take It" flag that has all four of the C-USA Texas teams' logos. The flag would be given to Rice since they had the best record last season, and it would be theirs to lose. Rice would fly the flag whenever they play one of the other Texas C-USA members. When another team in the group beats them, that team gets to rush the end-zone and take the flag down and carry it over to their sideline. The flag could change hands a few times during the season and at the end of the year the team that has it keeps it over the offseason and starts the following season with the flag. What do you think?- 77 replies

I was watching the ULL game the other day on my DVR and Apogee does look a little dark. Our uniforms didn't look Kelly Green in that HD broadcast. That being said, the lighting at Apogee is considerably better then what we had at Fouts.
-
Thanks! I have a VCR/ DVD recorder. I could make a copy for us. PM me and let me know.
-
Since you already have a copy of the Cincinnati game, could I bother you for a copy, or borrow yours and make a copy? I could even turn it into a DVD for you.
-
I want a copy of the Cinci game too!

Aresco: New bowl at Marlins Park 'very likely'
Side Show Joe replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I just can't see the AAC landing more then 2 bowls with the P5 conferences. The ACC already signed to play the AAC in the Military Bowl and rotate with C-USA for the Beef. They may get a Miami bowl, but I don't know if the ACC will be tied to it. I don't think the ACC would want 3 bowls tied to the AAC. I can't see the AAC getting the Liberty. I can't see the AAC getting a tie to the Houston Bowl. McMurphy reported the Armed Forces Bowl was probably going to C-USA. I just think Aresco is announcing the list of bowls he hopes to land.- 3 replies

Want everyone to welcome MeanGreenMarine to the house!

Welcome and thank you for serving! -
North Texas must be doing something right, otherwise fans of TCU and Houston wouldn't be on here trolling. TCU made it to the Big 12. Good for them. I don't really know why one of their fans cares about what UNT is doing. Houston on the other hand is just another wannabe. I know I don't cares about their years in the SWC, and like it or not the AAC is a G5 conference. Some fans like Cougar King need to accept the fact that the AAC and C-USA are at the same level of college football. The Big East they were promised is gone.

What does the joining of CUSA mean to you?
Side Show Joe replied to Mean_Green09's topic in Mean Green Football
It means a good rivalry between my brother and I. He went to Houston, but has season tickets at Rice. We have been talking a good amount of trash leading up to this game. -
Rice has most of their team returning. They are going to be a tough match-up. We have the advantage of playing the game at Apogee. If we have solid QB play and our D-line plays well, we could win this game.

Arkansas State & Miami (FL) Sign Home & Home
Side Show Joe replied to Side Show Joe's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm not knocking our series with SMU or Army. I'm glad we have them. Just pointing out that other programs are able to lure big time programs into home & home series. We should be able to also.
