  1. This.
  2. I'm more interested in finding out, how we got in this kind of position in the first place. This is Mac's fouth season. Why haven't we been able to develop a QB to replace DT? Our defense played well enough to keep the game respectable. I think probably 17 of Texas' point were a direct result of our lack of a passing game and throwing interceptions.
  3. We couldn't throw a pass on Saturday... and that's not an exaggeration. The running backs looked fair, considering we couldn't throw. The defense looked good, considering our passing put them in several difficult situations. Special teams looked decent too. But, the O starts with the QB. If none of them can throw, the offense goes nowhere. No offense = no wins. Until a QB steps up, I'd place us just ahead of FIU. This season is far from over, but right now, I'm very kind of nervous about the SMU game. Update: After watching some of the SMU@Baylor game, they have issues too.
  4. That was the worst passing I've ever seem in my life. The fact that both QBs were equally terrible makes it even worse. Williams probably should have had a chance too. He could not have done worse. Mac has a week to get this fixed. We cannot have a repeat against SMU.
  5. I just called Rooster's. They said they will be showing the game tonight!
  6. I did some calling around. In Denton, Rudy's, the Pour House, and Buffalo Wild Wings won't be showing the game tomorrow. If you don't want to watch the game at a bar, the closest resturant showing the game is the Buffalo Wild Wings in Highland Village. It's on Justin Road.
  7. It was a great episode. We are very lucky to have such a great program promoting our football team. On a side note... While watching the new episode I noticed that our assistant coaches wear very ugly hats at practice. I couldn't begin to tell you which coach has the ugliest hat. They all looked bad. Canales' hat looks like he took it from an old lady that was working in her garden.
  8. North Texas 38 Texas 20 Call me crazy, but I believe.
  9. By Scipio Tex Overview Head coach Dan McCarney spent a decade turning Iowa State into the scrappy spoilers of the Big XII Conference, putting up five .500-or-better conference records and also making five postseason appearances in an area that’s known more for bowl haircuts than bowl appearances. His Build-A-Gutty-Overachiever tool kit in hand, he headed to Denton in 2011 to help the Mean Green dig out from the wreckage of the Todd Dodge error era (not every successful Texas high school spread coach gets to be the next Art Briles.) That tool kit paid dividends in 2013 as the Mean Green turned in a nine-win season highlighted by giving Georgia all they wanted for three quarters and logging the program’s first bowl win since...that Booger Kennedy-led team in 2002! McCarney got it done last season with a spread-out passing game that emphasized stretching the defense horizontally and then hitting them with a big back, and his defense thrived on creating negative plays (over 70 tackles for loss, 39 sacks and 17 forced fumbles.) Of course, North Texas lost plenty of seniors who keyed both sides of the ball, and rebuilding rather than reloading tends to be the order of the day at programs of this echelon. But if the newcomers are capable of emulating 2013’s style then they’ll be more than capable of giving Texas a game. http://www.statesman.com/feed/sports/north-texas-mean-green-texas-longhorn-football/fjGmH/
  10. By Wescott Eberts Only five offensive lines in the country feature more experience than North Texas. When Navarro College transfer Josh Greer takes the first snap from center on Saturday against the Texas Longhorns for the North Texas Mean Green, he will do so behind one of the nation's most experienced offensive lines. So while the Mean Green lost most of the skill position talent from the squad that won nine games and finished the season with an impressive destruction of UNLV at the Heart of Dallas Bowl, the offensive line should remain a team strength -- head coach Dan McCarney returns 123 starts and four starters in the trenches. http://www.statesman.com/feed/sports/experienced-north-texas-ol-will-test-talented/fjGnX/
  11. I'm not really a fan of GameDay. They hardly ever bother to mention North Texas on their program, and rarely speak about C-USA. Right now they're in love with the SEC. All they care about is trying to sell the new SEC Network. I hated having to watch our games on ESPN3, back when we were in the Sun Belt. ESPN put the HOD kickoff at 11a.m. and placed the game on ESPNU. Next season, they are moving the game from New Year's. I don't view ESPN as a friend of UNT or C-USA. Let Florida State and OSU's fans try and fill the square. Their programs are getting the big checks for the game. I'm going to be getting ready for North Texas and UT. Maybe GameDay will want to talk about North texas after our game with the Longhorns. Go Mean Green!!!
  12. Here are some Charle Strong quotes for this week's press conference for the North Texas game. From the Austin American Stateman. Seems like they will try to shut down our running game, but I think we have the O-line to run the ball. Strong says he wants Texas to return to a power running game. Our defense will need to be hitting hard on Saturday, and the front 7 need to win at the line of scrimmage, and force turnovers. "The game is never about the opponent. It's about Texas." "We want to make teams one-dimensional. We want a team to throw on every down." Strong knew Mean Green Coach McCarney at Florida - "All he ate were Twizzlers and drank Coke." http://www.statesman.com/feed/sports/game-week-charlie-strongs-north-texas-press/fjCQJ/
  13. I'm very happy for Orr and Trice, but I feel terrible for Chancellor. If he doesn't end up on their practice squad, I hope he gets a chance with another team and makes the Chargers regret cutting him.
  14. ARLINGTON, Texas – The Cowboys’ preseason rolls along on Saturday night, as they host the Baltimore Ravens at AT&T Stadium in their first action since returning from California. With one preseason game in the books, this tilt against the Ravens is a bit of a mystery. The Cowboys’ starters are bound to play more than they did last week in San Diego, but it’s too early for a full dress rehearsal. With that in mind, there will be plenty to watch on both sides of the ball – both among the big names looking for a little more work, to the no-names fighting for a roster spot. The staff writers of DallasCowboys.com have each selected a player from both sides of the ball to evaluate throughout the game, followed by a review of their performances afterward. Lance Dunbar: The Cowboys showed just how much they think of Dunbar, their change of pace running back, by sitting him in the opener.... http://www.dallascowboys.com/news/article-1/Staff-Watch-List-Players-To-Watch-On-Saturday/33abf306-a463-4284-a2f2-963e296deb6f
  15. LOL! Now that's funny.
  16. Are they referring to some of the visiting teams?
  17. SMU didn't go bowling, but thanks for the +1.
  18. The first game in this series was played 92 years ago. I think it would be a good idea for the two athletic departments to enter into a joint venture, and produce a local commercial for this first game in our new 10 game series. play old game footage that progresses into newer game footage (equal highlights for both teams). Many casual sports fans that don't usually follow local college football, and disconnected alums, would probably show up for this game. Radio spots on the Ticket would probably be a good idea too. Just my opinion.
  19. Brett wrote this article about Thompson's suit against the NCAA and its member conferences. The article quotes Thompson. http://www.dentonrc.com/sports/colleges/colleges-headlines/20140815-thompson-takes-lead-in-compensation-suit-against-ncaa.ece
  20. If you go back and check, that is what I said we would be wearing this season, but our uniforms will be the same combination as last season. Other helmet designs are possible for some games. I still think the eagle is too big. I hope they make it a little smaller.
  21. I'd be willing to give them back their extra $150K, if they'd sign a "Home and Home" with us should we beat them.
  22. That would be great. I hope you are right.
  23. Ran out and checked the mail as soon as I saw your post. I have mine too. Hope you and the family are doing well. See you on Sept. 6th. Go Mean Green!
