North Texas has something to build on, and I think we have cemented our self as the HOD's top choice in C-USA. After the game North Texas and Army played, I'm sure the members of the HOD committee were patting each other on the back. When you look at our attendance in comparison to other supposed more prestigious bowls, with P5 teams playing, it looks even more impressive. If we can get back to the HOD next season, I think they will be bending over backwards to get us a P5 opponent, or another service academy. HOD 39,117 North Texas (5-7) vs. Army (7-5) Pinstripe 37,918 Pitt (8-4) vs. Northwestern (6-6) Independence 28,995 Vandy (6-6) vs. NC State (6-6) Foster Farms 27,608 Utah (8-4) vs. Indiana (6-6)

Official 2016 Heart of Dallas Bowl Thread
Side Show Joe replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Today was about as much fun as I can have at a bowl without winning. I'm very proud of our team, and excited about next season, especially "Round 3" with Army. Coaches will be hitting the road soon. They need to sell recruits on helping us beat Army in "Round 3" next year at Apogee. -
Wow. I applaud your effort. Thank you.

At the game tomorrow, it would be nice if the cheerleaders could make it a point to get the "North!" 'Texas!" Chant going every time there is a break in the action. Tomorrow should represent one of the largest gatherings of North Texas fans since the 2014 HOD. I think we need to make sure our chant is heard loud and clear on TV, every chance we get, especially if we get to go into victory formation at the end of the game. Go Mean Green!!! Thought?

Lol... Didn't know he was fibbing. I was just trying to refocus everyone back onto the important topic, showing up for the game. Just a thought... maybe the HOD only released the general admission tickets to secondary markets. Your link currently indicates there are only 52 seats still available in those 2 general admission sections. Wren twitted that there were fewer then 500 tickets left from the North Texas allotment. The HOD site only shows 7 seats left for purchase on our visitor side, and there may be around 1,000 $50 end zone tickets on Army's home side. To me, that's all good news. I guess we will all know tomorrow at kickoff. Let's stay positive.

C-USA is bloated. 14 teams is too many, especially with a crappy media deal. I love the line up in C-USA West, but most of us don't really care about most of the teams in the east. Of course if we moved to the MWC, we would be saying the same thing about them too. The biggest problem with C-USA is the terrible media deal. Moving to the MWC wouldn't fix that problem, it would only push it back until the MWC signs a new deal. Eventually all of the G5 conferences will end up with terrible media deals. Outside of a P5 conference, C-USA is the best place for North Texas, as long as the other Texas programs remain here. Our focus should be on winning, growing our fan base in the north Texas region, and increasing our revenues. We need to become the flagship of C-USA. If we develop the best football and basketball programs, generate more revenue then the rest of the conference, and continue to build and renovate facilities, we will outgrow C-USA. All we can really do is build and position North Texas for the next round of realignment.

Remember, the HOD is a charitable event honoring First Responders. If he got his ticket from Emmitt, you should be able to read between the lines. Lets focus on trying to lure more Mean Green fans to our events, instead of questioning the one that are already going.

According to the HOD ticket site all but 7 tickets have been sold on the North Texas (visitors) side of the stadium, and that is 11 sections of seating. Army seems to still have around 1,500 tickets still available on their (home) side. I have no idea how many general admission seats are still available. The HOD site doesn't show that information. Looks like we will have a packed house for this one. We may end up setting a new HOD attendance record. Merry Christmas Mean Green Nation!!! Here is the link to the HOD's interactive ticket site. http://heartofdallasbowl.tix.com/GenericMap.aspx?EventCode=888623

If it is possible it would be great to give the players and older fans something special when we take the field on Dec 27th. Let's bring back greatness. Let Hayden Fry watch the Mean Green win one more in these iconic uniforms, in front of a national audience.

I just got off the phone with the UNT tickets office, and have ordered my tickets. They said they are experiencing a high number of calls today, and that is a good sign. I could hear people on phones in the background. I liked that. We need the Mean Green Nation to show up in force. We need to be the HOD's first choice every time we are bowl eligible. let's bring more fans this year them we did in 2014.

If we play Army in the HOD the Cotton Bowl won't look empty. We know we will bring 30K or better, and Army will certainly draw a good bowl crowd. Navy brought the bulk of the crowd to their 2013 Armed Forces Bowl against MTSU. They had a crowd of 39,246. So, the academies get bowl support. The attendance record for the HOD is 48,313, held by the 2013 game featuring Purdue and OK State. I believe a North Texas/Army rematch will break that record, and that is why I think we are getting this bowl. I know fans of other C-USA programs are mad we seem to be headed to the HOD, but the bowl needs to make money too. Last season, Southern Miss and Washington barely draw 20K.

ULL can't go to a bowl this season. They are in trouble right now.
-
If we do, you can kind of watch this fine event on the internet.
-
No reason for everyone to argue anymore. Wren tweeted he will accept an invitation if one is extended.
-
Thanks. I gave you 1 for giving him 1. Gotta love the Thanksgiving holiday.
-
Thanks. I'm able to give others +1s and -1s, so I have yet to reach my limit. Just seems like it wasn't registering with some posts.
-
I haven't given out very many yet, and it isn't telling me I've met my quota, just not registering some of mine. Besides, why are people limited to how many things they can like or dislike?
-
Anyone else having issues giving +1s and -1s tonight? Seems fishy.
-
Tried to give you a +1 for your quote, but magically, it won't post it. Something smells fishy. Is everything on the up and up around here?
-
In my opinion... losing at least 52-24 to what was a 3 win UTEP team to finish 5-7 shouldn't earn you an extra 35K. Plus we lost to UTSA. I'm still pissed about that.
-
What's a defense?
-
UTEP just scored again to plant 52 on us. We may very well accept an invitation to a bowl. If we do, we do, but make no mistake about it, we didn't earn it on the field. I see no honor in that, and find no reason to celebrate it.
-
I'm applaud that this team came out today with no fight. Not acceptable for a team with so much on the line. We are getting our ass kicked and we deserve it. Littrell and the team needs to apologize to the fan base for this effort. They do not deserve a bowl invitation.
-
I was raised to believe you only get what you earn. This team isn't earning a bowl game today. If they miracle their way back into a win, then fine, go bowling. But, right now all I want to give them is a good butt chewing. This is embarrassing!
-
Feeling good about the game today. I think despite our injury situation on offense, we have enough D to slow down the UTEP running game. I believe our O-line and running backs will be on today. North Texas 32 UTEP 9
