  1. My sentiments exactly. Yes, we lost to them last season. Yes, they appear to have been out recruiting us. But, none of that is an excuse to lose to a program that wasn't even around just a few seasons ago. For a $1,000,000 a season, he better figure out how to beat them. No excuses.
  2. I hope you're wrong. I like Littrell, but I refuse to give any coach a pass on UTSA.
  3. Congratulations to Munoz. A great top five finish for our North Texas alum. Hoping this is just the beginning of a bright PGA future. Baker needs to get him in this season to flip the coin for a home football game.
  4. Munoz just teed off on the Golf Channel, Directv 218. CBS will pick up coverage at 2pm.
  5. Another very good round for Munoz. Goes to Sunday with a 2 stroke lead at 14 under. Go Mean Green!!! Final round tomorrow on CBS at 2pm. https://www.pgatourlive.com/this-week http://www.pgatour.com/leaderboard.html
  6. Anyone watching this on TV is in for a treat. Munoz is currently holding a 1 stroke lead over Denton native and SMU grad Kelly Kraft.
  7. Not football, so I understand if you move this Harry. Just great to see an alum excel on the national stage. Former North Texas golfer Sebastian Munoz is leading the field heading into weekend play at Greenbriar. Here is the home page from the PGA website. http://www.pgatour.com/ CBS coverage starts at 2pm tomorrow. Go Mean Green!!!
  8. Same 7 you have... Lamar- FCS UAB- Restarting football, at home, and early in the season. UTSA- I will always expect our coaches to win this game. Sadly, only Canales has been able to do that. FAU- Kiffen needs more than half a season to fix FAU. UTEP- Only return 3 starters on offense, and their great RB isn't one of them. Army- They are what they are, and we are improving. Rice- Only return their O-line on offense. Toss Ups SMU- Morris is 7-17 at SMU. ODU- Lost their good starting QB and their entire LB corp. Plus, we get them at home.
  9. I don't see this as a transitional season. Littrell hit the jucos to shore up the O-line and WRs. Although our recruiting seems to lag behind where we want it, Littrell has snatched some quality under the radar guys (Bussey, Ham-Bone, Wheeler). I also see Fine improving this season. Last season's schedule was much tougher. I see a path to 7 wins this year. Maybe more. ODU, lost a lot from last season's team. UAB hasn't played a game in 3 years. Kiffen will need time to get FAU hitting on all cylinders, and he could go down in a scandal before that ever happens. Morris has yet to deliver a winning season at SMU. I like what I saw from our defense during the spring, and I believe we have guys at every offensive skill position ready to post breakout seasons.
  10. I've had the chair back, but found them too hard, and not as comfortable as a carry in seat. You should try the chair back first, and if it isn't comfortable enough then switch. MGTexan is right. You just need to call the ticket office.
  11. Two years and he only has 40 posts?! Needs to step up his game.
  12. First, welcome to the board. Some of us on here have thrown around the idea of creating a traveling flag type trophy. Basically, the flag would have a large state of Texas on it and the logos of each of the 4 C-USA Texas programs at their respective locations. Across the bottom of the flag it would read, "Come and Take It!". At the first head to head match-up between C-USA Texas programs, the flag would be flown at the southern end zone. At the conclusion of the game the winning team would run it down the pole and take it to their sideline. The flag would stay with that team until they played another C-USA Texas team... and the same scenario would play out again. I'm sure RV was aware of this idea, but I'm not sure if it was ever conveyed to Baker. I still think it is a great idea, but I doubt the C-USA programs outside of Texas would like it.
  13. First, we don't have 5 rivals in anything. We do have some football series that could become real rivalries. I'm not placing these in any particular order. At this point we haven't played any program continuously for long enough to claim a series a rivalry yet. But, these are at the top of my list. SMU- We retired June Jones, play in the same community, recruit the same players, and the series is now competitive. We can't stand losing to them, and they can't stand losing to us. UTSA- They get under our skin, and we get under theirs. Losing to them is totally unacceptable. Rice- So far, this series has produced our most entertaining games since we joined C-USA.
  14. Our athletic department needs someone in charge of aesthetics and design that can not only travel the country and try to copy what others are doing, but work to create innovative and original ways of expressing our brand, not only for our players, students, and community, but as a way of showcasing North Texas to the nation. We shouldn't simple hope to have a locker room as nice as Southern Miss. That is playing catch-up. We should aspire to building one that makes theirs look like my old middle school's. I'd take the job.
  15. Zach is probably my favorite North Texas player ever, if I had to choose one. He has always given everything he has and been an outstanding example of what a North Texas man should be. This news is an answered prayer. So happy for you Zach. God bless and keep you safe.
  16. I was at every one of the games on this list. My personal observations... Canales' win over WKU is too high, and possible not worthy of being ranked at all. I think the 2015 win over UTSA was more important. That win saved us from an 0-12 season. Also, I'd place the 2011 win over MTSU 4th on the list, ahead of the 2016 HOD rematch loss. Dunbar last college game against Middle Tennessee was one of the greatest running performances in the history FBS football, and only about 500 soaking wet people were there to see it. Sad.
  17. Two words... Rico Bussey.
  18. Always glad to see a supporter work to improve athletic opportunities for our players. Thank you Mr. Kuehne for once again stepping up to the plate.
  19. The Sun Bowl is historic and has a unique design by being incorporated into the mountainside. But, the stadium itself is not better then Apogee. Apogee and TDECU stadium are both nice. If people give TDECU an edge it is only because it is bigger, and Apogee could use a few bells and whistles. If our athletic department added some eye catching Mean Green traditions visible from field level it would dramatically enhance the perception of Apogee. Examples: (Neon green back lit SOWs on the walls at the 5 yard lines, Green granite North Texas along the back walls of the end zones, a visible car dealership sized North Texas battle flag flying high outside the stadium on game day, ...). These types of additions would greatly increase the perceptions of people that have never actually been to Apogee, and only judge the stadium based on game photos. The AD should just hire me and give me a budget.
  20. That is the laziest excuse for a stadium ranking I have ever seen. This is why people don't respect the media anymore. The Alamodome was ugly when it was built back in the 1980's. Ford is nice, but not any nicer then Apogee. I think they left out a photo of Apogee because they didn't want people calling BS on where they placed us. The DMN jobbed Apogee in this ranking. Total garbage. The DMN should be ashamed of publishing this rubbish. I've been to Rice stadium, the Sun Bowl, DKR, Kyle Field, the Alamodome, Amon Carter, and TDECU. North Texas is up near the top of G5 stadiums in Texas. Right there by Houston.
  21. North Texas is currently paying Harell $235,000 a year. OU pays most position coaches between $390,000 and 450,000. That would be a good raise, but I don't think it would be worth it to lose the professional platform he enjoys as an offensive coordinator. It is harder to showcase your offensive mind as a position coach. I don't see him leaving for anything less then a P5 coordinators job. It could happen, but not yet.
  22. Thank you Mr. Baker. I have been pushing for a large car dealership sized North Texas flag at the stadium since we first broke ground at Apogee. (Best solution: North Texas flag 6 days out of the week, with the Battle Flag on game day) I hope they also take my other suggestion and have a flag raising event at the start of the football season. It would be a great event where our athletes and students can come together and raise the flag together. Alums should also attend. It would serve as a fall semester kickoff type event. Maybe, conference title flags could be added as our teams win them throughout the year. Also, the flag should be lit by green spotlights at night.
  23. We need a P5 playing at Apogee sooner then Texas Tech in 2027 (a decade from now). North Texas should dump Rhode Island in 2021, and sign a lower level P5 program like Virginia to play at North Texas in 2021 and then UNT could play the return game in 2022. Virginia was 2-10 last season. That is an example of a series North Texas should win against a P5 program. Is something like this on the horizon, or is Baker done reworking our schedule?
  24. If it is a home and home series with a recognized P5 that I can actually see before I turn 50.... I will be fired up.
  25. I don't dislike it, but it is a bit redundant. We already play a Houston team (Rice) on an annual basis. It will be another AAC series ESPN will dump on ESPN3 (See SMU Game Thread). The Army series draws some national attention and should air on CBS Sports. I'm waiting for a P5 home and home.
