  1. I'll feel much better if we can land a couple of high quality DT's that are holding P5 offers. A proven transfer portal QB wouldn't hurt either. I like having insurance.
  2. Sorry to get hopes up. Just saw it on 247 and thought things were turning in our favor.
  3. Renfro decommitted from UNT on Nov. 27th after Florida State offered. And he made his official visit to FSU yesterday. But, Renfro has yet to commit to Florida State. In fact he has scheduled an official visit at North Texas for this coming Friday (Friday 13th). Maybe he didn't enjoy Tallahassee so much. Maybe he ends up at UNT after all. It may be a long shot, but we will see. Here is the information on 247. https://247sports.com/Player/Kade-Renfro-46080486/TimelineEvents/
  4. I don't think anyone is in the mood to fork over more money if Littrell ends up hiring some old G5 retreads, FCS level coordinators, or P5 position coaches as our next coordinators. I know I wouldn't. But, I agree. If we want to be a bigger player on the college football landscape, we do need to expand our coaching options as we raise our expectations. If we actually do bring in some "big boy" coordinator, I will increase my MGSF donation for next season by 20% from my current giving level (10% for each coordinator). But, those better be some big time, attention grabbing hires that get us positive national media coverage, and excite recruits.
  5. I think we should hedge our bets and go find the best P5 transfer portal QB we can land (like SMU did with Buechele). Maybe we get a diamond. Maybe not. But we were going to take a QB in this class anyway, so why not get a guy that has been there and done it on a high level. If one of the young guns can beat him for the job, than great. Remember Fine had to take the job from Alabama transfer Alec Morris. In my opinion, the more competition, the better.
  6. If you remember those games well, than you would agree that this year's SMU team is light-years better than last season's (that's why they will be bowling). I loved our win at Arkansas too, but Arkansas turned out to be trash last season, and was still trash this year too (that's why they fired Morris during the season). Yes, 9 wins was nice, but we only beat 1 FBS team with a winning record last season (Southern Miss). Any honest person will concede that North Texas did not play as hard of a schedule last year. And again, Harrell's offense disappeared in the second half of games when we played good defenses. Those are just the facts.
  7. So their DC needs a job?
  8. Do you forget Harrell's offense was also the master of disappearing in the second half of games? Our 4 loses in 2018: (LA Tech- 6 second half points, UAB- 0 second half points, ODU- 3 second half points, & Utah State- 6 second half points).
  9. I never mentioned Littrell's salary in my post. The simple fact is Littrell is in his 4th season, and had (on paper) his best team to date. Everyone that was paying attention saw things were off before we even started conference play. Some changes could have been made but nothing was done. We just kept hearing the same weak talking points as the loses mounted. Certainly after the Charlotte catastrophe (5 Charlotte TD's in 5 second half possessions) Littrell could and should have stepped in and named Scott (former Virginia Tech DC) acting DC for the rest of the season. The continued struggles of our O line are becoming an annual talking point. Something needs to change. I don't know if changes would have turned any of the late season loses into wins, but it certainly would not have made things worse. As far as compensation goes.... I'll make a different comparison. Brian Kelly has been at Notre Dame for 10 seasons, and has compiled an overall record of 70-36 at their university, but he doesn't make as much as Seth Littrell. Like it or not, with big G5 money comes bigger expectations. When things go south, things need to get fixed before we have to end the season lying about having 16,000 fans on our senior day. Things could and should have been tried before the season was a complete loss. UTSA has fired Wilson. It is passed time for some on our staff to be relieved of their duties.
  10. I'm glad Littrell didn't rant or make a scene at the press conference. I doubt any of us want him to be a poor man's Kiffin. We should always aspire to more..... Littrell should have walked into the press conference wearing a sweatshirt with a snapshot of the face mask on the front of it. Then he could still make the same comment about the "no call". That would have been classic and made the rounds on social media and ESPN.
  11. Hope you are right. Fine deserves a shot at the Pros. Missed y'all tonight. Hope all is well.
  12. Thanks. I couldn't hear the question on the video.
  13. All my best to Mason and the rest of the seniors. Thank you guys, and hope to see y'all in the stands next season.
  14. I would really like to know what that guy asked him at the 3:33 mark?
  15. I disagree. I believe every situation, even a terrible situation, is an opportunity if you approach it the right way. We need Ref gone as soon as we can leak his replacement's name to the media. If Wren does his job, the coach replacing Ref will be a proven defensive mind that carries more than enough street cred to hold the defensive players we have, or even add some better commits. I see no reason why UNT can't make lemonade from our lemons. We could seriously upgrade our defensive coaching staff, and get some positive media attention, if Wren and Seth are smart this off season.
  16. No. If we get passed over for a spot in a better conference, it will be because our program has failed to live up to a higher standard. That is on our coaches and athletic leadership. Our attendance today 16,406 (yeah, I couldn't keep a straight face when I typed it either. 7,000 tops), is merely a result of our team's consistent poor performance, and our leadership's acceptance of low expectations. Our fans have shown up in big numbers, time and time again, only to watch Littrell's teams crap the bed. By the way, I'm tired of apologist like you. You and the other down voters should be trying to hold our leadership accountable for this mess, not pointing fingers at the hardcore fans that endure this garbage year after year. The coaches and staff need to step up and own this steaming pile. And, our AD needs to speak up and assure the fan base that personnel will be changing, and things are getting fixed.

  18. Me too. That is why I didn't post it in the game thread.
  19. I feel the same way. This season is not his fault, and he deserves a better ending to his college career.
  20. Agreed. Fine deserves to leave the field for the last time to the cheers of North Texas fans, regardless of what the scoreboard says. He has earned it.
  21. I just watched Mason Fine's post game comments on youtube (I won't post them). That young man embodies everything we could hope a North Texas student athlete would become. He feels terrible about the loss, and feels like he let us down. Nothing could be farther from the truth. He has always given everything within his power to control. Mason Fine has always given everything he had on the field. He always did everything he could to win. I never saw him take a play off. He sacrificed his health time and time again, and took the blame when others were to blame. No one could ask more of him. I know we lost, and will finish with one of the most disappointing seasons ever, but I will forever be proud to call Mason Fine one of the greatest players and leaders in the history of our program.
  22. I'm not going to lie, with the exception of Cobbs, I would trade our entire coaching staff for LA Tech's.
  23. I apologize to the athletic department. They have the posted some of Littrells post-game comments on youtube. Not the comment LS gave to Barnett, but similar to what he said in those comments. I will also give Brett Vito credit for asking harder questions too.
  24. That is a good point, but he also gave us memories of Portland State....
  25. Littrell is giving his post game comments on radio (don't expect them to be shown on youtube, UNT doesn't post those when we stink). SL said the team played better in the second half because they had a better "mentality", and his plan in the closing minutes was for "the team to keep fighting". At least he didn't roll out his tired old "we need to get another day better" crap. Wren please step in an make some changes. -1 all you want. If you think those comments are that of a coach taking responsibility for this disaster of a season, than you are also part of the problem.
