  1. I totally agree. Now, where do we go from here?, and how do we get there?
  2. I think the OC or DC from TCU would be nice. They have experience recruiting quality talent both locally and nationally, have proven they know how to win at the highest level, and they are already in the area. Patterson is probably leaving anyway, so one will be named the head coach, and the other can come to the Mean Green!!! We might be able to get a new series with TCU out of it!
  3. I agree. we need to start acting like the 3rd largest university in Texas, and fund our recruiting, so we can recruit around the country.
  4. I think you may be in the minority at this point. MT became the 10 team this season to score 40 or more points on us. I think many of us on this board see no real improvement, and are quickly losing faith in the leadership. The players have talent. At some point the excuses of them not executing what they've been taught get old.
  5. At this point, I'd like our next coach to be an experienced Bowl Sub OC, DC or head coach. I'd hate to get into the same situation we're in now, with a Champ Sub coach. I don't want to take that chance. I think we have to wait and see who's left over after all the other coaching hires, and see who's the best we can get. I'd like the OC or DC from TCU if they would leave. Unfortunately, our pay scale doesn't allow us to get first pick. After watching OU and Tech last night, I think I'd really like to see us go to a pro style offense. It seems everybody is moving to the spread, so there should be more talented pro style QB's and RB's out there for us to recruit. In my opinion, Tech proved the spread can't beat an elite team. Tech's spread simply can't run the ball with power, and that puts their defense in terrible situations. We have the same problem, along with several others. Under the best of circumstances, I think if we stick with the spread, we can only be a strong mid-major, but never a giant killer.
  6. I think we can all agree. The wheels aren't just off, but the old Mean Green Machine is up on blocks and we can't get a tow. What can we really do about this situation?
  7. Which off the field incident was it? or was it one we that hasn't been reported yet? Please share!!!
  8. If we took out a full page apology in SI and ESPN would they stop running up the scores?! I'd donate to that fund.
  9. As much as I hate to admit it, my first thought was... 3) He got into trouble but he has never had any problems that I'm aware of, and I don't think he would be in trouble, but sad to say, it's been a very, very, long terrible year, and there is absolutely no bad news that could surprise me at this point. I hope everything is ok.
  10. I must admit, I'm one of those guys that believe a coach needs four years to get his program on track. But I was also shocked by his statement that all of the coaching staff would be back. I can understand that he wouldn't want to distract the team with talk of coaching changes, but it would have been smarter to avoid the topic all together then to give that answer. Please believe me. I want him to succeed, I want North Texas to be a great football team, but we gave up over 40 yards per kickoff tonight, and went 50% on our extra point attempts. This isn't the start of the season anymore. If he honestly thinks we don't need some changes in the coaching staff, then I don't know how he plans to turn this program around. I've been watching college football for over 30 years, and have never seen any team have a season this bad, both on and off the field. There is no substitute for winning. Winning isn't everything, but losing ain't squat. I was one of those guys who was glad he came to UNT, and I'll support him and this team, but he's not making it easy. I'll cut my Thanksgiving short down in Galveston and be back for the Arkansas State game to support the team during it's lose. Casey and the other seniors deserve it. I just wishes they could go out with a win. Go (as best we can) Mean Green!!!
  11. Good enough to move us off the top spot in espn's bottom ten? Maybe they will count the stadium vote?
  12. Good enough to move us off the top spot in espn's bottom ten? Maybe they will count the stadium vote?
  13. I just had my birthday and Christmas wish come true! Lets enjoy this!!! This season is now a success in my book!
  14. I believe Bret. He has the connections to make a reliable call on this. This is one of those moments we will all look back at and remember exactly where we were. When it becomes official in about 30 minutes I'm celebrating. We need to enjoy this one. We've been needing this stadium for 30 years. I'll give RV his credit. He's fighting for this program. Go Mean Green!!!
  15. I'm still optimistic. I have to believe the administration would not put this on the ballet unless they knew the votes were there, because if it doesn't pass, the egg on our university's face will damage the entire school perception for years and years. Go Mean Green!!!
  16. Yes. You and all the other students who have worked so hard to support this program, also have my thanks. Please pass it on to the others. I didn't sleep well last night, but I feel we will hear good news today. Lets hope for the best. Thanks Flyer. Go Mean Green!!!
  17. I'm not happy about the way this season is going either, but we need to come together as a fan base and support this team. It's easy to suport a team when they are whipping everyone in sight. It's much harder to support them when they are having the season we are, but it's times like these when true hard core fans step up. It's the little things that help pick up morral, like staying at the game until the end, no matter the score, driving around with a North Texas flag on your car all week long, not just on game day, and taking a minute from tailgating to walk over and stand in support of our team during the Mean Green March. I know most of the people on this board do some or all of these things already, but we need to try and stay positive right now and promote all the reasons we need the new stadium. I think we'd all be better served if we called off the negative insights, at least until after the stadium vote, because if we don't get that new stadium, this type of season will become the norm around here, and none of us want to see that. I've said what I had to say, and now I'm ready to be the punching bag. Swing away.
  18. Veto told me they were open to the public. I've been twice this week and will be there again tonight for the full pads. If they want interest in the program, and donations for a new stadium, kicking fans out of the practices would not be very smart.
  19. I'm thinking Rucker might be the guy laying the wood this friday. At 6'6" and 220, he could do some real damage if he has a mean streak. In pads he looks more like 245.
  20. Thanks for the information. Will to Win and I were out there last night and had trouble putting names to numbers, except for Hollivay, Jenkins, and Rucker. They kind of stand out. Deloach was really getting after the defense, and I think they will work far better as a unit this season. The offense looked very sharp for the first day, but that could change next week when the pads go on.
  21. I'm going to make the wild prediction that the school will make an announcment at the cook out on Saturday. With all the talk about a new stadium, coming from Dodge and the recruits, I think something is up. They wouldn't say things like that for the paper unless they ment to leak it. I think they will have a revised design and a date for the ground breaking. What do you guys think?
  22. I moved to Denton in 2003 to get my master's and liked it here so much I never left. I like it here so much that I drive 80 miles a day to get to work, because I don't want to move away from here. I love going to the games on saturdays and supporting our Mean Green football team. But I have to be truthful, there are not many good places to eat in this town. The best food I've found in this town is my wife's. The next best are the Fajita's from La Azteca, but I still have to grill those. If you have some places I need to try please let me know.
  23. I talked to Vito during Spring practice and he told me there was a strong possibility Gilmore wouldn't be back for the Fall. I had my fingers crossed that he would take care of his bussiness this Summer, but he wasn't able to get it done. I'm not mad at Gilmore. Maybe he can get back for his Sr year. If not, I just hope he is able to finish his degree and have a successful life. This is a terrible hit for the team, but I figure, if Vito knew about the situation, then so did the coaches, and they must have some kind of back up plan. I don't think we have another guy that can step up and deliver at the same level Gilmore did, but I pray I'm wrong. Is it too late to bring in another Juco DE?
  24. Does anybody know if we have any games on TV this year? After the game we had with Navy last year, I'd like to think the Rice game might get picked up. Has anyone heard anything?
  25. Speaking of Feeley, I just watched a re-broadcast of the Bayou Bowl the other day, and both Feeley and Royce Hill played in the game. Feeley looked great! He had one false start in the game, but was great at both pass and run blocking. He never allowed his man to sack the QB, and he made room for the RB's all night. Royce showed a lot of speed. He gave up a TD, but other than that his coverage was good. Right now he plays faster then the people around him. When he gets under control and learns DeLoache's system, this kid might be an all time great for us.
