  1. Financially, how does LA Tech do it? Is the publicity worse then the kind we get for going win-less in the worst conference in the country? and I think 1-11 takes care of any bowl chances, in any conference. I think the new stadium and dedicated athletic fee could change the numbers and the viability of the move.
  2. I have to admit. I never cheer for other Sun Belt teams in bowl games. I know I'm supposed to support the conference, but I see the Belt as something different from other conferences. Our teams compete in a marathon that I don't think will end any time soon. As a fan, I see a conference title as a stepping stone. If our school can win enough of them in enough sports, or maybe just the right sports, we might earn our way out of the Belt. Because of this over-arching goal, I can't cheer for another team to move any further ahead of us in the race to escape the Sun Belt. I've read other posts where fans knock the WAC, but if the MAC or C-USA don't come calling, I'd much rather play in the WAC, then stay in the Belt. With a new stadium, and a dedicated athletic fee, I see no reason why we should be playing in the Sun Belt in 5 to 7 years. Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings with this post. It's just how I feel. If anyone can make a good case for supporting other Belt teams, and or staying in the Belt, I'm willing to read it.
  3. I wish he and his family the very best. I'd like to thank him for his efforts at North Texas, and may he have a great coaching experience at his new job. On a side note, I'd like to know if this means UNT is now hiring two coaches? or are the other coaches absorbing his responsibilities, and we are just adding a badly needed strength coach? Anyone know?
  4. I agree, we are not seeing any improvement on the field, but I don't see any way out program will be scraped, or relegated to the ranks of the former DII. The student fee, if nothing else, should keep us on life support.
  5. Kick returns for touchdowns and extra points being blocked in game 11 of the second season does not merit much patience, when it has been a problem all season. It's not all about losing, or even so much about how we are losing, it's about the lack of improvement, and the perception of it never improving under his leadership. It's not about "instant gratification". There's just no visible signs of these young players improving, and I believe they are more talented then what we've seen on the field. But I've said before, I was one of the people who was glade we hired him, so I'll be ok with giving him his third year, and go to every home game and support this team. If I cook a nasty meal and there isn't anything else in the house, guess what?... I'm eating a nasty meal.
  6. I'm just an average guy, working an average job, paying an average mortgage, and I'm sure I spend more money on North Texas football stuff then my wife would like. Every year I buy North Texas tickets, hats, shirts, shorts, coffee mugs, stickers and other items. This not cheap. Every morning I fill my UNT mug with coffee, and once a week I have an opportunity to wear a North Texas shirt to work, and I get harassed mercilessly by my co-workers for it, and I defend this football program. I would be easy to be like others and jump on the bandwagon of whoever is the hot team at the time, but this is my school. This is my team. As fans we have to fight for our team, like few other universities in this country could understand. I have no problems with anyone making a fair examination of our team's situation.
  7. If Dodges goes, I want one of the Coordinators from TCU. The one that doesn't get the head job there when Patterson leaves. Let him pick his own staff (no high school coaches please).
  8. Exactly. I've watched North Texas for 20 years, and just found this board earlier this year.
  9. If they don't want to play here, I would think what is happening on and off the field, will have more of an effect on that decision, then what a few angry poster have to say on this board.
  10. With one game left in Dodge's second season, we've shown little to no improvement, and had too many off the field issues to name. I'd like to get the opinion of a player or the parent of a player, on what they think our team's problem(s) is (are). Is it the players?, the coaching?, or something else? Please help us understand.
  11. 80, Do you think we need changes in the coaching staff? Maybe special teams?
  12. Sounds like what's being said on this blog today. Is there anyone that still believes Dodge can turn this thing around?
  13. North Texas has fielded a team every year since 1913, except for during WWII. We will not be pushed out of football!!! Like I said before, I'll take a coordinator from TCU. Go Mean Green!!!
  14. Reading this post makes me think of Jim Mora's rant "Playoffs?!, Playoffs?!, Don't talk to me about playoffs! Playoffs?!" I'm too frustrated and disgusted to think of bowl games right now. Especially for other teams in our conference. A mediocre 6-6 season in a below mediocre conference could have put us into those talks. I think we can all agree the rebuilding is behind schedule. How far behind is each person's personal opinion.
  15. If he is brought back for a third year, I think 4 wins could keep him around for a 4th year. But only if the 8 loses are respectable. We can't lose those by an average of 30 points a game, and special teams can't smell up the campus ... or country for that matter.
  16. I've been reluctant to be critical of Dodge too, thinking it will not help to turn the situation around. But after 11 games this years, with no real improvements occurring, mounting off the field issues, and hearing him state he sees no need for coaching changes to his staff, I am quickly losing faith. I wonder if administrators are thinking this too?
  17. The Ultimate Warrior was cool too. Way cooler then that lineman from Tech.
  18. Totally agree!!! I grew up in Houston watching Sam Houston Colosseum Wrestling. Junk Yard Dog was the best!!!
  19. Arkansas State's offense is better then MT's so we should be down more then 35 by the half. That said, I could never bring myself to not cheer for our team to win. It's not fair to the players, especially the seniors like Casey. They deserve to go out with a win, and the fans' support.
  20. Yeah. When you get a headache, you don't chop off your head. Lets keep things in perspective. Things can't get much worse (Oh God please let me be right). So eventually things have to get better. 2 years, 5 years, 10 years, ...... We just don't know when or under what coach.
  21. I'll always remember Flair on his knees begging for mercy, right before a cheap shot to some guys nads!
  22. I'm wishing we could stink as bad as Washington State at this point.
  23. Yes, I drank the Kool Aid when we hired Dodge. I admit it.
  24. Sounds good to me, but I like the idea of adding a long series with TCU, to go with the SMU series. The more games close to home, the better. Saves our budget too.
  25. this program is also mired in several off the field issues, that have been noted on another post.
