Silence at Baylor
adman replied to Harry's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Baylor. Come for the murder. Stay for the rapes. -
"UTEP at Arkansas 2:30pm - Hogs have the horses but interesting because of similar styles." Hogs lost their starting RB Jonathan Williams for the season the other day. But even still they will blow UTEP out of the water. UTEP may not even score. I predict Arkansas wins the SEC West and quite possibly the conference. They are scary good.

Periscope from this mornings practice. https://www.periscope.tv/w/aKXhHzYwNjcyMnw2NTY0MzQwOJXnZJ2xbcuTfux0ANP-fB14ZQNg0q4Kl0cGN8_odJRK One thing I find a bit interesting - AM has been listed as a starter and Greer the presumed #2. In this video Greer and and DaMarcus Smith are throwing together and are the only ones shown. Could we deduce that is because the 2's are working together and DM and JG are considered 2A-2B?

Drones Harry. Drones. Have BTG put you in contact with a Drone cameraman and shoot this thing a la drones.

5-7? Granted, we do have a difficult schedule but we finished 4-8 last year with 2 or 3 games that were very nearly wins. Lot of question marks in many positions and our 2-deep currently has 10 Freshman either starting or backing up. That's a lot of youth. But they are also faster and more athletic than what we've had in the past so... I think you could easily call 6-6 and 7-5 is a very real possibility.

We know we can draw around 40k in Dallas on Jan. 1. Why not at least half of that for the first game of the season?
-
Probably some truth to what you are saying - although I didn't see any parental types rocking green. Young adults of drinking age were the majority.

UNT Rb's vs LB's one on one (Periscope 8.18.15)

Physically reminds me of AP. Kid could be special. Andrew Tucker has me intrigued as well. -
Related - Unrelated I was out and about in Denton last Friday evening. Arrived about 7Pm and was bouncing around the square. All the places I visited (drinking establishments and a restaurant) had many people wearing green t-shirts. So much so at one place someone even asked: "What's with all the green shirts?" I replied Friday's are Mean Green Pride day. Nice to see ideas/traditions getting sticky.

7-5 - Hope springs eternal. We're young on both sides which usually doesn't bode well for teams BUT we're probably more athletic/fast at every position than any time since I've been following this program. I think we see a much improved, aggressive, borderline dominant defense. My biggest concern is O-line this season. 4 of 5 new linemen. And not to bash what Kaydon has achieved - walk-on to starter - but I wasn't impressed with his play last season and he's our only returning starter.

MGB: Scrimmage notes (Updated with Mac video interview)
adman replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Whole lot easier to step in as a WR than it is a QB. -
The Juco DE Jaried Combs got his stripes removed today as did freshman DT Roderick Young and Brandon Garner.
-
Sam Rice seems to be the one solid piece on the O-line.

MGB Thursday notes: QB depth chart, Wisconsin thoughts
adman replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
So Mac goes out and spends a ship on a Juco QB whom he has no intention of ever playing? That makes tons of sense. Didn't Greer, a Juco, start at Texas? Albeit to disastrous results but the point is the new juco guy got his chance. McNulty may start the SMU game but who is to say he finishes it? Starting could mean simply the first series. Kids a senior and paid some dues. But count me in the camp that thinks Smith will come on hard and either win the job outright before SMU or at minimum share some game time. -
He won't be a QB.
-
Word I heard - Combs was unblock-able.

Five most important things we learned about SMU this week

SMU isn't going to be overly improved from last year no matter who the coach. -
MGB breaking news -- Florida linebacker enrolls at UNT
adman replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Late qualifier? What's the scoop Brett? Should he become dominate on the outside one day I decree Darrien McNare's nickname be: Dare McNare. Welcome aboard Dare. -
Beyond Beyond the Green. Exciting times. Looking forward to seeing and hearing more.

Because they don't start school. Once you enroll full-time the clock starts ticking. -
I blame Evan.

Best College Football Stadium.... Besides Apogee
adman replied to mgfan's topic in Mean Green Football
Agreed about the atmosphere at Reynolds. As for the stadium itself, kind of a dump in some ways, at least the concourse areas. My mom has season tickets and if schedules allow I make a game with her each season. When it rains the concourse floods, badly. Narrow in many areas, not well lit and they've not even upgraded the TV's to flat screens yet. (minor but it all adds up) Her tickets are near the student section and I swear we (NT) have more students at our games the last 2-3 years than UA does at theirs. Of course they have an additional 70k fans in attendance so theres that... We do have a UNT friendly bar there. Cool Beans Knoxville run by an NT alum. So thats a win! -
