  1. So we won't know what Alec Morris will do until he does it, if and when he gets here. But to say there is something inherently flawed with him because he only had 3 offers - Us, Wake Forest and Bama - I guess also means there is something wrong with this guy Shawn Jennings: https://rivals.yahoo.com/alabama/football/recruiting/player-Shawn-Jennings-162656 He, like Alec, is a Rivals 3 star recruit. He's ranked #39 in the nation at his position, safety. Alec was ranked 30 at QB. Bama, Auburn and Memphis were the only three, per Rivals, to offer. Does that mean he sucks? Time will tell just like it will with Alec. Does Nick Saban have busts? Sure. No one hits 100% of the time. But if he's offering I'm excited. And a Nick Saban bust at Alabama more than likely will be at least average at any non power school and Im good with that for now. The one thing I do know about Alec Morris is that more than a handful of non-North Texas fans have approached me and said: "Dude! You're getting a Bama QB?! Holy cow things are looking up at NT." If people who have no real interest in NT football other than knowing I have an interest are stoked and talking about it, imagine pitching that news to a kid who we may want to catch those passes or snap him the ball." This is, at least until signing day, a really big deal. Judge slowly for sure BUT let's not poo poo this just because.
  2. Who gives a damn if your QB goes on to play and win at a high level in the NFL? All the "washouts" Ben Gooding mentioned won lots and lots and lots of games in the SEC and even a few National Championships. Count me in the camp of that being plenty fine with our QB's winning conference championships year in and year out as well as multiple National Championships.
  3. Per this ranking he wasn't even average. (#80 of all FBS QB's) http://espn.go.com/ncf/qbr/_/year/2013/page/2

  5. I heard the Murray's and the Vizza's are vacationing this Christmas together.
  6. Does anyone feel like this is a Million Dollar Dodge 2.0? Fancy Schmancy offensive mind thats never had a HC college job, bringing in assistants/coordinators that have never coached their assistant/coordinator position. Granted these guys have some college experience but…I want to really really like this but part of me feels like its just a way more expensive experiment that we've already tried. Sorta. I gave the hire a C grade btw. Im not sure what to think.
  7. Hide and watch.
  8. If Filani is coming you better believe Harrell is coming as OC.
  9. Meanwhile the most successful coach in UNT history is earning $70k a year. (And didn't start making that until 2014.) Under Mac OC & DC each made $190k assistant salaries ranged from $70k to as high as $155k.
  10. Ultimately I think you do a statue of every retired number in the stadium and you put them on each side of the sidewalk leading to the east gate 4 (where the team walks in) Joe would be at end near the gate - probably facing uphill. So the gist is the team walks into the game past all the greats. You see those numbers under the scoreboard but the casual fan has no idea who they are or their significance this would solve that and be a cool moment each home game. Would look good on camera too.
  11. Chico burned Darrien McNair's shirt in the WKU game.
  12. the thread (Sidways Twitter) should be read in its entirety for a better understanding
  13. First home game in at least 10 years that Ive not attended. (And I stood on the deck at Fouts while playing WKU in freezing rain and sleet for the entirety.)
  14. http://www.winsipedia.com/north-texas Interesting compare function on the site to see your team vs any other
  15. anybody see anyone on this list that gets them excited? http://tulsahurricane.com/coaches.aspx?path=football&
  16. Who wouldn't want him? Thats not my point. My point is Miles isn't going to go just anywhere.
  17. If LSU were to sack Miles I don't think he coaches anywhere not named Michigan. And he probably can't score that gig for another 3 years. post script - Miami might be an exception.
  18. I know Brett is doing his job by pulling the ol FOI on the University but this just outed a lot of guys who may have not mentioned to their current employer they were interested in leaving. Again - it is another example of why you hire an outside firm to help in selecting a coach. FOI's do no good against a private company. Now, all that said, I wonder if all of the people on that list have either withdrawn candidacy or are not being considered for the job. I say this because of this quote: "...including at least one whose resume was not included in the information the school provided in response to the FOI request." Perhaps, even with FOI, if there are a couple of actual offers out, the school can keep those quiet and not release because they are in negotiations and releasing the info could be detrimental to negotiations. Conjecture on my part for sure but a thought.
  19. Color me an optimist but I think you're going to see some pretty good things out of Mac's last two classes. Several RS and true freshmen already playing this season. I think a big issue for Mac was the staff he had the first two years weren't recruiters - Nelly, et al. Many of the current crew seem to be - Tommy Perry, KP, Lamarcus Hicks, Perry Carter to an extent. Someone remember to throw this back at me in 3 years.
  20. IDK how long Total Wine in Lewisville has been open but their M.O. when entering a market is to undercut pricing on most everything to drive out the little guys. Once dominance has been established you'll see the prices increase. For those unaware Specs is owned by North Texas alums that support the University.
  21. I could be wrong here, mainly because I often am, also because I don't follow women's basketball, but I feel like this may be the greatest upset of all time in women's basketball. When looking at the closing RPI ranking of teams last season Oklahoma was 21. North Texas was 328. http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-women/d1/ncaa-womens-basketball-rpi
  22. Please explain this to the current QB on the roster.
  23. Yup. Bryan "Howie" Howington - an NT Grad and former Lucky Lou's bartender/manager is one of the owners.
