I think it is a sign of some deeper programs within the program. We have definitely lost the momentum of Dodge's hiring with what is happening now. Unfortunately, this could have some effects on recruiting, and if the recruits are not aware of our problems, you can bet the other schools will let them know. I have no way of knowing what is going on for sure, but when I have heard Dodge talk, he seems to speak of how he treats his players. Maybe it is different in the locker room. I sure hope we can have something positive happen soon such as a win. But as it stands now, we have some serious problems within this program.

KBJ How can you lay what is happening at the feet of Dickey? I hope you are being sarcastic. If I am misreading, I apologize. But, Dodge is the coach now, and these are "his" players. No other coach in college football gets the passes from supporters and fans than he does. If this is growing pains of a new program, great, that is just something we have to live with. But what happens in 2 years or 3 years? I do not like, but I can accept blow outs to the OU's and LSU's, but to Rice and Tulsa, no. And the person I hold responsible is Dodge. Dibrell leaving is a sign of some deeper problems in this program, and Dickey is not blame on this one.

Hey, all in fun, debating on this board. Just to let you know, Dodge said that regardless who recruited these players, they are his players, and he is their coach. I did not communicate that properly. I think he started off stating that an some might want to make the excuse that you have to wait to have players for your system, but he said that was not the case, we need to win now. I edited my post to reflect that as I did not properly communciate that. Have a great day, and certainly we won't fight again.

I e-mailed Brett Vito, and he answered me back. Said that Coach Dodge stated at his press conference that everybody showed up at the 6:30 AM meeting.

Again, gave my observation from when the "stadium questions" were asked, OK? I am not trying to lie or create any controversy, sure do not appreciate you insentuations. This is just how I viewed it, nothing else. Wrong or right! I tell you, I will go ahead and say it, your absolutely right on this one, happy now. You win and You got your way! Bet your one of those people who is not always right, but is never wrong.

Lifer, I have edited my post. I misstated what Coach Dodge said. Sorry I did not report correctly!
-
You misunderstood, or perhaps I did not state correctly what he meant. I have edited my post, please re-read. I apologize.

Good for you, that was the one I missed. Glad you had your moment of fame (LOL). Based my personal testimony and "proof" on the other show. Have a good evening!

Coach, He said in his show last night that he told the team that if anybody did not have passion for the game, and playing at North Texas, then don't bother showing up for the Tuesday morning meeting, and just go ahead and quit the team.
-
Well, they did with the questions concerning the stadium.....want proof? Heard Dr. B tell Rick V. that the Coach answered those questions just like we told him. Have not seen anybody from the audience step up to the mike, and have only missed one show. That is what I am basing this on, sorry we have different views.

Well, they didn't with the NT 40.....want proof? Heard Dr. B tell Rick V. that the Coach answered those questions just like we told him. Have not seen anybody from the audience step up to the mike, and have missed one show. That is what I am basing this on, sorry we have different views.

Yes, he took questions. However, I could not hear them. I am told these questions are written before the show, and he more or less knows what is going to be asked. At the first show, it was the car dealers. At the last show, it was the NT 40 and they asked stadium questions. I think what you are after is did the audience in general get to answer questions, the answer is no, there is not an open mike to step up to and ask questions. He is very approachable after the show. At the one before the LSU, a guy at my table suggested he use Riley for kickoff/punt returns. He did say he was thinking about that. He did say the offense graded out better than what the score reflected, but I again I did not here the whole thing. He is very technical sometimes in his answer, not like George or Hank describing what happens (ha! ha!)

Went to the coach's tonight at the Pourhouse. Not all tables in the big room were full, but pretty decent turnout. Hard to hear everything, and carry on conversations analyzing his comments at the same time. I did not hear it as I was a little late, but supposedly he told the team that there was a 6:30 AM meeting in the morning, and told the players that if that did not have any more passion for the game than those who showed up Saturday, then don't show up in the moring. (Somebody who heard that can correct me). One thing I did hear him say was that regardless who recruited the current players, they are his players, and his their coach. Again, I enjoy going, but hard to hear/understand. Sorry for a report without any more detail.

Another Gem!

Wouldn't it be funny if George Dunham could get Gordon Keith to do the Fake Todd and Fake RV, just like Jerry and Wade. It would start out like all of Coach Dodge's shows with: Dunham: "Well, Coach, you suffered another minor setback at Rice this past weekend." Fake Todd: "Yes, George, we did, and I told our kids Sunday night when we met with them............." Fake RV: "George, let me interupt here, everything will be o.k., just hang with me............................... and the Domino pizzas are on me." Just trying to think of some laughs.

You need to seek some counseling! Seriously, I love the humor.

Buying A Daily Ad To Support The Stadium Vote
Green Dozer replied to rcade's topic in Mean Green Football
Kram, just when u think the town's attitude is turning, an article like that gets printed. I think it was political satire myself, and like you, way off base. They in no way seriously endorsed this stadium. -
How can u run when your blocking has completely broken down? Besides, do you really want to start down the concussion highway with Riley right now? My point is to not disagree with you, but if our goal is to get players experience, then let them get it. Riley's knowledge of the offense system, and his athletic ability will bend the experience curve for him. I just don't want to physically beat him up when we hopefully have a full stable of horses in the next season or two, and we can really see the results of him playing quarterback.

:) THANKS FOR LETTING ME PUT A SMILE ON MY FACE TO START THE WEEK! HECK, YOU HAVE EVEN TAKEN SOME WIND OUT OF SAILS, BUT DON'T WORRY, I WILL REFUEL. GREAT POST! I LOVE THIS BOARD.
-
PLEASE, HE DOESN'T WEAR A CAPE! THERE ARE 10 OTHER PLAYERS ON THE FIELD WHO HAVE TO DO THEIR PART. OH, HE MIGHT GET LUCK HERE OR THERE, BUT HE WOULD NOT BE MUCH BETTER THAN VIZZA AT THIS POINT.
-
WHERE DID YOU READ THAT I WROTE RILEY HAS A STRONG ARM. YEA, CHASE DANIEL HAS ALL DAY TO THROW, BUT HE HAS BLOCKERS, OUR QB DOES NOT. YES, IT IS MORE THAN OBVIOUS THAT D-1 COORDIANTORS HAVE AN ANSWER TO OUR OFFENSE, ITS CALL ASS KINCKINGS! I THINK YOU REPLIED TO THE WRONG POST!
-
Just curious, but I have read a couple of posts that say that Dodge new there was not much talent when he came here. One said that freshmen and sophomores beating out juniors/seniors is an indication. What I would like to know, is there that much difference between our talent and the players at Rice, Tulsa, and other mid-majors? Yes, points put up against us by these teams answer the question to some. But, is it really true, or does Dodge not know how to prepare (motivation, work ethic, etc) at the college level?
-
10 other players are on the field with the quarterback. Until those 10, especially the O line, it will not make any difference.
-
Well, Rick I don't think you hand the reins to Riley. A lot of people seem to dish Vizza (lack of speed, strength of arm). But, how do have to set up and throw with 6 def. players right in your face, where is there to run when you don't have any blocking, and you sure can't be accurate in your passes if your throwing as your being hit. Sure, with his speed, Riley will have some big gains. I saw where somebody pointed to Chase Daniel. Well, he has some experienced lineman who know how to block. If we go to Riley, and he gets hurt, then it does not matter.
