Our forefathers did not intend for "Freedom of Speech" to be used in an irresponsible manner as this young man did. Freedom of Speech was meant to be used for your disagreement with the government, so you could have a voice. And I never heard McCain call Obama anything like was mentioned by this guy.

I have seen more effort than all of Dr. B and RV predecessors. Have you thought that we just have an apathetic alumni base that does not care?
-
You of all people want to call me out?   Might want to think about keeping your porch swept. Jesus cartoon pics, your Downs Syndrome jokes, and you think I am negative and insensitive to the feelings of others. I find these posts tasteless, and they also show a lack of respect to others beliefs and challenges. I do not know what religon you are nor do I know what challenges you or are your family may face. But when you post these things like you have, you certainly show a lack of maturity. Then you have the audacity to climb on some pedastal and call me out. You are certainly no better sir!

OK Quoner, but I would be curious as to what their overall budget is compared to ours. Not as resourceful as you are, so would appreciate knowing. Thanks!

I think the comment that you "better get your guns" on his Facebook page is what got him. Just a guess, but here is the link. http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/sha...tte_ousted.html

Just where do you think these wealthy UNT alumni have been hiding all these years? Tulsa's success is also due to the oil patch in Oklahoma, and has a lot of "oil money" from some wealthy donors. The city of Tulsa is not poor, and the local energy companies have generously donated.

Quoner, Where did I knock him in my post? He is the one who said to expect big news in November. He has done a lot, I agree, and that is why I asked him the question directly. Nothing more than just wanting to know if he had heard anything. This was not meant to be mean or disrespectful to him at all, honest injun! Given my track record, I know you would think that. Man, now I have to give myself 50 more lashes. Give me a break, please.

I am going to change my name to "dazed and confused dozer". Without comparing us to anything, anybody, I meant I saw bringing in Dodge as starting from scratch. Just like having nothing and going from there. That is simply all I meant. Gang Green, I now see your dense comment was meant to me, I am sorry I even wrote the post, made any kind of comment, just throwing in my two cents.. I was dense for doing that, and now I will go give myself 50 lashes. That is all.

Very good points. Good Post!

Quoner, didn't South Florida build a program from scratch, starting about 10 years ago? Or was it Central? But I see us building a program from scratch, that is all. And when you start completely over, and taking a chance, that is raising the bar IMHO. I know it does not make sense, but that is the best way I can explain since I cannot see you in person at this moment. And you probably do not want to read a dissertation on it either. Now, I am confused. Are you an undercover guru?

1999, What I mean is that we are taking a big chance bringing a high school coach here, and are sacrificing in the manner we are i.e. wins/losses drug tests, etc. With a program that is the age of ours, short of cancelling the program, this was pretty drastic. We brought Dodge in here to build the program, I felt from scratch, and we were going to build a stadium. I think that says we are trying to raise our bar. I have looked at these two years as no different than the 10 year plan it took South Florida to build a program, except we are fielding a team. No, by our record, you could say we haven't. But our other moves say we are trying. I think sometimes taking chances and doing things different shows you are trying to raise your bar. Hope that clarifies it, and yes, I know it does not make a whole lot of since. Some organizational behavior guru would shoot holes in it, but that is just my theory. Hope that explains it a little better. Have a good one 99!

I do not you will see conferences like the Sun Belt, the MAC, and other smaller conferences get to participate with the big conferences if there is a playoff system. I think you may even see another upper tier created for the big boys and they will comprise the ones who are in the run for the National Championship that counts. There may be a playoff system between the smaller conferences. The big boys are not going to want to take a chance playing the smaller schools due to the risk of injury or being beaten i.e. Oklahoma/Boise.

You know, I wish everybody on this board was as insightful as you. I, mean, the man had a family emergency and all you can do is put him down.

Per Flyer, wasn't there suppose to be a big roll out of plans, a model, and the like this month? Flyer, any news?
-
<sigh> No use even replying to you Lonnie, but I do not have anything better to do right now. If you think our bar was high before Dodge, then as Shaft told me in one of my post, you must be smoking something and I hope you will stay away from the players. Bower, which you have mentioned, may have won 2 or 3 games with this team, that is it. Don't know how many games you have coached, but Dodge has more on the field experience than you do. We have set the bar higher and that is why we are going through these growing pains. There is a million dollar coach not from Frisco named June Jones. Do us all a favor and go follow him.

Following This Week's Win In Florida
Green Dozer replied to UNT Mean Green's topic in Mean Green Football
Hey Mean Green, Thanks for the info. Do you know what time their charter gets to Love Field? They said they would be at the athletic center 45 minutes after they landed, which I thought was pretty quick. Of course, that was not the case. It was more like 90 minutes, but still well worth the wait. If we can pin the time a little closer, maybe more fans can turn out. And guys, you can tell it really means a lot to the players. Many said thanks for not giving up on us. These guys are young and they take our cheers and jeers seriously. So if you can make it Saturday, great! -
Not head coach, but offensive coordinator. Most rumored job for him is Washington, because he is from Wyoming and his personality would be a better fit in Seattle. As I put in an earlier post, there is a website, and it has been there for a couple of months, that is campaigning for Muschamp from TX to be the new head coach at TN. Guess it would be because of his playing days at Georgia, and being the coordinator at Auburn.

Yes, Lifer, I agree about Drew. And yes Baylor's adm stds are not as tough. But some of these private schools football programs are just little dogs, nipping at everybody's heals, and pulling an upset or two every once in a while. They don't bite hard on a consistent basis. I just do not see Briles being as successful in Waco as he could at Tech.
-
Kram, Leach has mixed it up in the SEC. Remember, when Stoops hired him, Leach was at Kentucky. Stoops said at the time it was because Leach's offense gave him fits while he was at Florida.
-
Commitments and them gaining admission academically are two different things. For example, 90% of Rice's recruits cannot meet admission requirements to the school. That is just the challenge of coaching at a private school, and I realize Baylor is not Rice. Briles getting that done on a consistent basis, and copying the success of Tech at Baylor will be a challenge year in and year out. One thing that is his favor is that Morris had switched to the spread the last couple of years.
-
Most definitely. And I know Briles would be pulling a Graham to leave after one year, but he would be crazy not to take the Tech job if offered. I know the chance to coach in the Big 12, and also the money, is why Briles took the Baylor job. I would have thought he would wait out the Tech job for at least a couple of years. I cannot imagine him being able to recruit the skill position players to Waco to make the offense work as well as it does at tech and at Houston. I think, and hope, that June Jones will have the same challenge at SMU over the long haul.

Please, Lets Stop The Negative Stuff
Green Dozer replied to Green Dozer's topic in Mean Green Football
Again, you miss my points, but I am obviously talking to a wall. No, we don't have the money for better coach and am talking 750K to 1 mil for a coach that will generate any kind of real support or interest from fans and recruiting. No fans don't come to watch the coach, but I do not want some has been like Weatherbie. As for the list, we are dreaming at this point. Yes we are underfunded, have been for years. Your hero, Dickey said so many times. As for your check, I doubt you were giving before now anyway, so it is not missed now.
