Injury Prone? Takes chances running, I will give you that. But some of the hits he takes , and gets back up from, is because we have no size on the o-line. Failure to pick up reads? Kind of hard when there is no blocking from the o line to speak of, and a rusher is on top of you as soon as you get the ball. "No Leadership Skill"? Oh, thats right you were out in the huddle, attended practice, talked to his teammates, coaches (besides his Dad) to come to this conclusion. I will remind you he is the highest rated recruit to come to UNT regardless of his name. Applewhite was small to, but had some talent around him including a pretty decent offensive line. That is where the size thing can be made up. QB is not the biggest problem for this offense. Your down on him because his name is D-O-D-G-E.

I saw your signs and stuff from across the court before the game, and they looked pretty cool. Especially with the photo of Thomas kissing Magic. Anyway, you all held them up when he came to his bench and throughout the introductions. Just curious, what did he say? I saw him look up at y'all and laugh and point. Did the UNT lady cop make you put them away or what happened? Curious minds want to know. By the way, you all are doing a great job, showing lots of spirit. Keep it up!!!

I noticed Hughes has already played at Ole Miss and Southern Miss. 3 schools already if you include Pearl River CC. Anybody know what the deal is?

Isaiah Thomas and no Cowboys game this Sunday should help. -
OU fans were glad to see Chuck Long go at OU. Now Carl Torbush, he is a good hire.
-
I don't care if he is working on his PHD. If he has eligibility and can help us win, I say play him.
-
The NCAA may need to look into this....they are either desperate or well paid. Or maybe it was the wings.
-
I think at some point you have to judge the finalists on their overall career, not just one season or one game. I also do not think freshmen and sophmores should be eligible. That said, it should have gone to McCoy.

Did this writer attend every game and not get up from his seat? Good article! -
Basketball: Big Second Half Gives Unt Win In Sun Belt Opener
Green Dozer replied to mgsteve's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I thought we played one heck of a second half. The only thing that I think JJ and the team started to let up at the 6 minute mark, but clamped back down pretty quick. Knox had a nice rebound, but looked a little nervous shooting his free throws which he missed. Mangrum had another good game as well. I wish they would wait until the 2 to 3 minute mark if they let up at all. -
Well, John Blake was a great recruiter to, and great soldiers do not always make good generals! I at one time thought Gill could do better than Kansas (it is a bb school that gets lucky in football every blue moon), but I am not as much a believer in him as I once was.

If there are no changes to the schedule, he can get the "magic 7" in conference, and not have to sweat the OOC. I don't see us winning OOC games right now, sorry. I doubt RV is going to use the Kan St or Clemson games as a measuring stick. Agree with '03 that Rice and Army are not sure wins. I am more concerned with how we do against our own conference, that should be the guage as to the progress we do or don't make.

Mean Green Basketball Or Cowboys Football?
Green Dozer replied to Green Dozer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
OK, but somebody should have caught this a lot sooner. It is crazy to go against the Cowboys, even the students will watch a Cowboys game, unfortunately. Move it to 7 or even 1. People could see most of the Cowboys game with a 1 PM start. -
I would not expect a college basketball coach to be a football fan, and Coach Foy obviously not a Cowboys fan. I understand he handles the scheduling for the basketball program. Anyway, we have a couple of Sunday afternoon games and the first is this Sunday at 3 PM. The beloved Cowboys are hosting the Chargers and kickoff is at 3PM as well. Traffic is not usually a problem on Sunday afternoon coming up to Denton, and we are opening conference play against ULM. So, are you going to show your green colors and come to Denton to show your support for what is to be a championship season? Coach Jones and the team will appreciate your support more than Jerry Jones will for supporting his team. Hope to see you Sunday and GO MEAN GREEN BASKETBALL!

No state monies are used to support UT's athletic programs, it is a separate entity. It comes from donors to begin with. I think a football operating budget of 13.5 million dollars and the generation of 87.5 million in revenue is pretty capitalistic. FYI, they now have a CO-OP not only in Austin, but San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas. Somebody sure did a great job with branding and marketing in Austin. Bottom line is that the alumni and the administration came together at the same time and built that athletic program into what it is today. Hmm, who could learn from that? I want to rub my fillings with foil when I think about how our merchandising has been and is handled!

Sorry if this has been posted, but the football banquet is Saturday night. I was just curious if anybody else would be there. The date caught me off guard as it usually has been in January. I know the highlight film will be pretty depressing, but at least think about coming out to say thanks to the team. None of these guys set out in August practice with a goal of having the kind of season we had. So, who is or isn't coming.
-
What does a school's operating budget have to with the football budget at these schools? That is two different things. MTSU does not spend 17.2 million of football.
-
The BCS money barely makes a freckle on Texas' butt. Yes, they could still afford it, the BCS money does not make their program.
-
Bowler, I would not even count the Boise game even if they had won. Stuffing themselves at JJ's house on Thanksiving (kudos for having the entire team to his house), flying to the middle of no where and playing in front of maybe 50 people (don't know, but I bet crowd was very small), hard for them to get excited as I am sure they all would have rather been at least closer to home if they had to play over that stretch.

How Confident Are You In Our Football Program?
Green Dozer replied to Side Show Joe's topic in Mean Green Football
And you do realize this program is not ran like 90% of Div 1 schools. For a school this size, in one of the top 3 states for recruits, with this huge alumni base, and we continue have these types of challenges. Decade after decade after decade. 99, you and I were in a local sporting goods store and NOT 1 NORTH TEXAS ITEM, but a whole wall of UT stuff. It is the little things like that, and the fiasco of the past couple of weeks that make us so insignificant to even the most casual college football fans on our own campus, in Denton, and throughout DFW. Another coach might have a few more wins, but until a lot of little things change around here, the big things are not going to happen. -
How Confident Are You In Our Football Program?
Green Dozer replied to Side Show Joe's topic in Mean Green Football
Sorry, but we are not in same league as TCU anymore as for as recruiting. Their success now is not flash in the pan, they have a very strong program with a solid alumni base behind them. That is wishful thinking to think we are competing for recruits with TCU. -
You Decide: Is Rv Bold Or Stupid?
Green Dozer replied to MeanGreenHoops's topic in Mean Green Football
Look on the bright side! When RV first got here, nobody was talking about the program. Look at the number of views and responses here on this board the past week since this fiasco started. At least people care, no matter which side of the issue they are on. There is pride in the Mean Green Nation! -
Darrell Dickey Deserves An Apology!
Green Dozer replied to meangreenbob's topic in Mean Green Football
Agree. Don't know if OOC wins would naturally happen, but you would definitely need them, including an upset or two in there like a Clemson, and blowing an Army team out.
