Yea, torn acls', broken and dislocated bones are always a stamina thing.

Why do you and a few others feel a need to stand around the practice field with the players? I mean, that does not happen anywhere else, certainly not in a program that takes itself seriously. As for national coverage of the "drug scandal", it made the New York Times. And it was a positive article at that.

I have been to all the radio shows except two since he has been here. He has not once made excuses as you speak of. He has always said they are part of the game and you have to deal with them. Look forward to seeing you there sometimes before you make unqualified statements like this.

They just pointed out tackling is an issue for UNT in this game. That would fall under "defense" that is coached by "Deloach" which means........................nothing, it is ok since it is Deloach's responsibility to teach tackling or at least to see that the players we recruit know how to tackle. There needs to be change there to.
-
Defense is better yes. But take out the Clemson game, and we have had 50+ points put on us. Short field? Well, NO EXCUSES, right? If giving up 50+ points, and there is no excuse, then there needs to be changes on defense to. Look, Deloach is a good coach. But, sorry, changes need to be made on that side of ball to, excuses or not.

OK King, but think this year, just up to this point, would have gone two years ago under these circumstances. We have improved, but it does not show in the W and that is the law. And by the way, I am not excusing the last two years. But you know better than to think we are talented enough across the board to overcome these injuries. And I don't think you will have to worry about six wins, two wins, whatever that is a mute point. Dodge will resign, he is not stupid. Even he knows things have to change and that the change begins with him.
-
I doubt Riley is even throwing at 70%, probably closer to 50%. His arm has not recovered from last year and never will.
-
Oh please!!! We are not talking about bumps and bruises here, these are season ending injuries. Check it out, we are approaching at the least 10% of the traveling squad. Yes, there are coaching problems, but to imply other teams deal with injuries of this magnitude without missing a beat is ludicrous.

Well, I will tag team with you in this post. I have been a Dodge supporter, and hell no I don't like to lose. Yes wins and losses is what it comes down to. But the man is a class act who has been a great ambassador for this university which I know a lot of folks could care less about. He started with a near bare cupboard to begin with, and only talk of a new stadium at the time of his hiring. Criticism comes with the job, I understand that. But the way that some want to burn him at the stake does us no good in the eyes of folks who might look here to see what UNT is about.

On another thread, some want to revive Tom Landry and bring him to UNT. If the owner of the Cowboys, Clint Murchison Jr had given in to the press and the fans and fired Landry, we possibly could not be joking about him coming here from the afterlife. Murchison took a lot of heat for that decision, but proved everybody wrong. NOT YELLING HERE, BUT I AM NOT SAYING IN ANY WAY THAT DODGE IS THE NEXT LANDRY, SO PLEASE HOLD YOUR FIRE. Just simply stating, for the fun of it, how cool it would be if the Dodge saga turned into a success story. That's it, nothing else!

I know we all are hungry for a win....but wouldn't it be nice if there were a tradition by some of our fans and students to greet the team anyway win or lose. I do not mean to sound like we should condone losing, but these guys work their butts off win or lose and I think we should let them know that they are a part of the Mean Green Nation Family and have our support.

If we are 0-3, then how do you not also blame Deloach or Canales? Deloach has had full authority over the defense since he returned. One poster says he witnessed 200+ tackling drills at UNT's practice, and though the tackling technique was wrong, he did not see any of the defensive coaches correct it. And according to a few here on this board, Canales has the last say on most of the offensive game planning. So, how is firing Dodge going to improve this team that dramatically? Please save the argument that you fire him just because he is the head coach. Firing him is not going to get more depth on an injured offensive line or replace an injured corner. I just have not seen that he has hindered these two coaches enough over the changes in the off season and in the first two games for him to take the wrap all by himself. The other coaches have to be held accountable as well. I like Deloach. I do not think he is working any less harder than he did before, but he also does not have the talent on this defense nor the depth that he did before he left either. With the resume that Deloach has, he would have already been a head coach by this time if he really wanted to, and my understanding is he does not want to be a head coach. As for Canales, there is a reason why he has not been one either. Remember also, several men before Dodge have all tried to right this ship with not much more to show.

I just don't understand why Brent Venables continues to show up on some wish lists here. There have been quite a few coaches move on from Stoops' tree, yet he hasn't. There is some reason or reasons why he continues to be passed over, it is not exactly like he is not in high profile position. And I would guess that Applewhite is the oc in waiting at Texas, and if Muschamp were to move on before Brown retires, then he might be the new assistant head coach and head coach in waiting. Just a guess.

The headstone is actually in the Texas State Cemetery in Austin, which was erected in Coach Landry's honor (http://www.cemetery.state.tx.us/pub/user_form.asp?pers_id=6810). He is actually entombed in the mausoleum at Sparkman Hillcrest, so you won't have to do any digging. It does have an emblem that looks like a fedora. Just trying to help.

I just hope Canales lives up to half of the expectations you have of him Lonnie. Will he walk on water at the home opener against Rice? Because if he does walk on water and live up to half of your expectations, this team will take a 5 year step forward in one season. Unfortunately, he does not suit in pads nor a cape for a game. He will have to wear a shirt with the Under Armour logo on it, not an "S". I thought Deloach was getting a pass the past couple of seasons, but man he took a beating compared to the posts about Canales. I hope Canales is successful, but it still comes down to the players on the field.

"We need campus life," Hickey said. (UTSA ATHLETIC DIRECTOR) This is going to be UTSA's biggest hurdle, and it will not happen overnight. Look at how our tag, and though partly right, as a commuter school hurt us for years. It has certainly improved! Up until about 10 years ago, most of the students that lived on or near campus did not stay in Denton on the weekend. It has greatly improved, I know first hand as a business owner on the square, these college students hang out on the weekend. And we had pretty good student attendance I think the last few seasons. Certainly, it could be better, and if we start winning, the ones in the parking lot may actually come into the stadium. UTSA does not even have a "Fry Street". I know they have a coach that has won a national title, but schools were not even honking outside his house to hire him, much less knock on his door. The Alamodome will look more like the state high school championship attendance as for as a crowd goes. I also believe UTSA alum is a lot less likely to support the athletic program than UNT's alums. And we know what could happen if even 40 to 50% of our base in the metroplex would step up.

Tcu Announces $105M Stadium Renovation

Donor funded. Wow! -
How about "UNT ALUMNI (THE ONES THAT GIVE A DAMNED THAT IS)STADIUM".

Lifer, I don't disagree with you about Mitchell and his contributions. I also don't disagree with any of you about why you want it named after the likes of Pohl. And I also have an immense amount of respect for Joe Greene and his career accomplishments. But to me the new stadium is the beginning of a new era for UNT football. Simply, we have ridden Joe Greene long enough. Soon, the dad's of recruits will have to look him up to know who he is and what he accomplished. Therefore, I think it should be something that reflects a new era for football at UNT, not a link to the past. I don't know, "Mean Green Field at Eagle Point Stadium". That just came to mind. Again, I have all due respect for the one's who worked hard to put us on the map (Fry, Mitchell, Greene, Haynes) and put his sour attitude aside, even Dickey. Those 4 championships were not given to those teams, those players and coaches earned them. A lot of those efforts were made without the resources that future coaches at UNT will have to work with. And many complain about the lack of support now, you should have been around before RV got here. All of that said, I am just we glad we have a new stadium so we can all debate the name.

How Texas Became A Power & How It Relates To Unt
Green Dozer replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
When you talk just football, you are correct. But it is all the other sports that finally started getting proper funding to be competitive and he can take credit for it. -
Harry, you are not to for off. However, I think we will upset Troy or MTSU, so one of those losses will have to come from some where else.

I Guess The Kickoff Cookout Is No More?
Green Dozer replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
How do you like your pancake cooked? Do you want mayo or mustard? Enjoy! -
I think the benefits from having a strength coach on the football staff is paying off. And just the glimpse of Tune, man he has muscled up. Great video! Would like to have a couple of those green t-shirts!

Could The Dominoes Be Falling In Unts Favor ?
Green Dozer replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
A conference championship in basketball this year won't do it. We have got to win the first game in the big dance, because until then we are really only taken serious by ourselves. Unfortunately, football is the measuring stick, i.e. Kansas and the sweating that Bill Self was going through when he thought Kansas might be left out on the prairies of Kansas in the Big 12 circus.
