Just for those of you who are not following Coach Canales on twitter, here is his latest message: "coachcanales: Appreciate all those who cheered Loundly for our players last night. We felt your support and we will continue to fight for UNT."
-
They had the "UNT Preview" going on at the pit as well.

Well, one of the 3 mentioned has become laughable.

Which Assistant Will Mack Brown Blame Tonight
Green Dozer replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
Emmitt, have you ever seen those clowns that kids punch. Well, I am getting you one that looks like Bevo. -
Were you at the game tonight?

Plumm, the fringe fans don't know who Leavitt is, so the only one that will be able to put butts in the seats as you want is Leach. Sorry, not happening! And after a couple of years of him losing more than winning while recruits "players for his system" the awe will wear off. We win, and consistently, is what matters to me and all fans. Attendance will then take care of itself.

Well, are you gonna hock that Caddy to help pay his salary, because Wells Fargo is not going to have a branch at the new stadium giving money away. But, hey, I did not see nor hear debates like this during our last coaching change, so it is all good and fun for our fans! It shows we care.

I doubt that the way Coach Canales is working for this job, though he did not get the results he wanted tonight, makes me think he would not accept a position like that. And you know, I don't blame him. Yes, his first win was against the other team worse than us, but he was mainly responsible for our win at Florida Atalantic. Even Dodge admitted that, so I see Coach Canales, when completely in charge of the game plan, as 2-1 right now. What is the one intangible that Leavitt brings that Canales does not have? Besides a difference in title at USF? Canales was with him in the portables to. Look I am not saying Chico is the guy, I agree we need to be thorough and diligent in this process.

Question To The Green Brigade People
Green Dozer replied to the green rokemi's topic in Mean Green Football
Everybody around me thought the same thing! -
Thank you Mrs Canales for the t-shirts that you handed out at the game. The "Lock the Gate" theme is really cool, and will make for a cool keepsake for the Mean Green fans who got them. I even saw Emmitt and his group getting the picture taken with her and their new shirts. A certain former coach's wife would not have had her picture taken with Emmitt, I assure you. And yes, I am sure Mrs Canales is doing this to support her husband in getting the job. If the results equal the enthusiasm that she and Coach Canales are showing in this audition, then I say sign them up.

We will be there turkey dinner that weekend, wish this game would have been our last one at Fouts and we were coming off 3 belt wins. But hey, while I don't like losing AGAIN, this was the best football I have witnessed out Fouts in 3.5 years. And by that, I mean the demeanor of the team and fans during the walk over, the pace at which the team warmed up, and they fact they never quit. We were in it for the most part, and most importantly at the end of the game.

Green Machine, whatever you give and the other 3 or give, THANK YOU! But the point is we are underfunded, no secret, and you don't need a UNT degree to see it. But I would say the number of graduates in the DFW area (94K to 95K I think) in proportion to those graduates who are members of the MGC Club is disgraceful, plain and simple. And there are lots of reasons for it that have built up over many years before you or I started supporting the program. I don't know how long you have been around the program, but believe me, it is light years ahead of what it was just 12 years ago.

If this team is successful from here on out, then I would say "yes" to your first question. As for your second question, the only coach who is going to get the non attached fan here is Leach and they ain't going to happen. Leavitt, Bower, Franchione, etc will get the fringe fans. But the only thing we can count on attracting the non attached fan is WINNING and winning consistently while playing exciting football.

We better clean our front porch before pointing out whats wrong with Tulsa's....our cheerleaders continue to lead cheers during injuries, and whats worse, it is when one of our own is down. Lets also not forget how they try to work our crowd into a frenzy when we have the ball, so as to throw off the opposing defense when they are calling out their play.

Yes, the Wal-Mart way of doing things around here has sure paid off. UT could learn a thing or two from us about the business of football.

What Is The Difference On Defense Today?
Green Dozer replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
To somebody who is going to say hold on, get a grip or something because it is Western Kentucky...I say, Yes it is, but a win is a win, just ask these players who have stuck it out the past few years....... and everybody deserves to celebrate this one! Congrats Coach Canales, Coach Deloach, and the entire team! Thank you, you deserve it! -
Political Correctness And Player Discipline
Green Dozer replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Football
Okay, we all agree he hit somebody. It is an emotional game, so I can get past that this was an isolated incident. But, what about story he tried to get the witnesses to change their story or cover it up? So, that does not bring up any questions concerning his integrity? Some here do, some don't. You know, there sure is a lot of smoke for there to be no fire. Somebody posted, Tasty I think, that RV was surprised about the negative comments made about Bower here. Wait until he reads this debate on Leavitt, all comments on Bower will be seen as positive. -
The description says it is new item, so here is a UNT polo on www.meangreengear.com: BE LIKE MIKE, ORDER ONE NOW!

Spotted In Golden Triangle Mall @ Finishline
Green Dozer replied to MDH's topic in Mean Green Football
Again, it is a demand thing and business's have a right to a profit. I have looked at selling some UNT cups in my shop, but it is cost prohibitive and am not going to put inventory on a shelf to just have it sit there. It could also be the difference in their cost for a SMU/TCU hoodie vs NT hoodie. Walgreen's carries shirts and stuff, but it does not fly off the shelves there either. Be sure to talk to Wal Mart about their OU and Texas stuff while your there. You know we ought to more concerned why you can't buy a UNT shirt or cap on the Denton Square. Again, the gangsta bros don't buy our stuff, won't buy it, and that is what this mall caters to. Be sure you have your mace with you when walking through there! -

Green Dozer replied to MDH's topic in Mean Green Football
Hibbit Sports in the Golden Triangle Mall sells UNT stuff and has a decent selection. They spread it out pretty even amongst UNT and the other schools. Unfortunately, it comes down to a business decision. However, I would not get to upset as Golden Triangle mall is not a destination of people who would be looking for UNT merchandise. Most of the stores sell the gangsta style clothing and that is who they are targeting. I would say most of the students at UNT shop the vintage clothing stores here or head to Lewisville, Grapevine, or North Dallas. -
We are the Rip Van Winkle of college football.

Correction, LSU. But, I thought about Coach Jones after reading a lot of the posts arguing that would should get Leavitt, and you are right there have been no problems. Sometimes a mistake by an individual does not reveal their true character, it is how they learn from that mistake and conduct themselves from that point on. That said, I trust RV will look into Leavitt's incident with due diligence just as he probably did with Coach Jones. Of course, he probably did not have to do much since he was familiar with Johnny from his own time at LSU. I trust in RV and will support whatever decision he makes.

I liked the idea of Tyrone Nix the last time. I hope he gets consideration for the job this time as well.
