Writer Says Kansas Should Rehire Clint Bowen
Green Dozer replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Why do so many clamor for a former player to come back and coach, either as an assistant or head coach. It has NOT worked more times that it has. Good intentions, but it is hard for either party to be objective when tough decisions need to made (loyalty issues, personal feelings, etc)in order for the program to be a success. -
I saw this billboard on the way to Dallas yesterday. It is on I35 just before Main St. in Lewisville and is visible from the southbound lane. One thing I noticed was the stadium logo.

This may have been posted, but this morning was the first time I heard it. About 9:30 this morning on The Musers, there was a promo for the "New Mean Green Era" and of course Coach Mac was mentioned as well as the new stadium. So it seems we are stepping up our marketing efforts in the DFW area.

Has anybody called Leavitt? I mean just picked up the phone and called him.

Congrats To Kenny Lyons - He Graduated
Green Dozer replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
There will be a story in Sunday's Denton Record Chronicle about Kenny. So be sure to check their website if you are not a Denton resident. Hope it makes the Dallas Morning News as well. -
Congratulations to the Mean Green Basketball Great, Kenny Lyons! He received his diploma Saturday and is now a graduate of UNT! I can say from personal experience, it is not easy going back in your forties or so to earn your diploma. Sorry, but I do not know what his degree is in. Kenny is usually at our bb games (looks like SUMG's bodyguard), and I have seen him at other athletic functions. So if you get a chance, be sure to congratulate him on this milestone. As for as I am concerned, the next time he attends a ceremony at the coliseum it should be to retire his number!

Mellow Mushroom is not open. They maybe re-thinking (my opinion only) as Hot Box went out, and Gino's who took it over looks as though it is closing. But, I hope the Mellow Mushroom does open! -
Way to big of a leap? I disagree. If JJ were 35 years old, and has worked his way up the ladder from say Div. II to a Div. 1 program, then this would be a big leap. But he is not a flash in the pan, and being closer to 50 than 25, maturity would not be an issue. The fact he coached for Dale Brown, even with the recruiting issues, does carry some weight. Don't know much about Missouri, but I bet he could recruit pretty well in the inner cities of St. Louis and Kansas City. Surely he would be better than that drill instructor at Kansas State. Kansas is going to get their guys, so he would be fighting for the ones they pass up. Going from the Sun Belt to the Big 12 in football, is a big leap. He has also been a player , assistant coach (won a national championship), and an interim head coach in programs similar in size to that of Mizzou. It is basketball, and there is not near the difference in the size of organization he would be managing if it were football and making this move. Not saying he does have a great chance, but I think it is possible that he might at least get a formal interview.

Went to the first practice tonight. Lots of energy from this coaching staff, and more than I saw last spring from the players. Everybody looked glad to finally be on the field and begin this new era. And I have to say, it seems as though McCarney is louder than Deloach. If not, it is definitely a tie.

There are some Nike shirts available on the athletic department's website.

Texas Tastiest Bbq
Green Dozer replied to Baby Arm!'s topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
In DFW, I would suggest Angelo's or Railhead in Fort Worth. Best cold beer in Fort Worth. Cooper's in the Stockyards is good, but you can get carried away at the pit, so it gets expensive pretty fast. Still good bbq, and a fun place to take folks from out of state. Blackburn's is good, but the places to go in Lockhart are Smitty's and Kreuz Market. And Cooper's in Llano is great to! -
I know you are not suppose to quit....but it's over Western KY!!! Go Mean Green!

I did not mean it as a knock.

Johnny Ball

I just can't see Johnny going to Lubbock....remember it is not just about the conference he might coach in, the emotional attachment (i.e. LSU), and the money. Knowing his wife, I doubt she would want to take their young children to West Texas. I bet she does have a say in all of this!

Think we can light that tower now?

Guy in brown jacket just walked in front of them, no respect.

Watching Sun Belt feed, we look tired.

The Tar Heels, Blue Devils, and Wildcats of the world hit bumps when they are suppose to dominate to...our future is still bright, but probably another 2 or 3 years from the Big Dance though. Looks like we may have spent to much energy in OOC play, while the rest of our conference did not.
-
I hate to say, but it seems they have quit on JJ. 8 days is plenty of time to for the players to get their "legs" back, and make adjustments for a winning run from here to the end of the season. Players only meeting looks like it resulted in nothing.

Because "ours" does not belong to us, thus it is not used to haul equipment. It belongs to one of the UNT Dancer Dads' and it is on loan while she is here. He did the same thing for another child at Texas. The trailer is a big lounge and has been used for college days at high schools in the area so I have been told. Our truck is actually a moving van that is loaned to us each weekend during football season by Little Guy Movers here in Denton.

Saw this on Colin Cowherd this morning, and thought we might need to do this instead of benching our key players. Western Michigan's basketball coach thought his team needed to toughen up and play better defense, so he had a football practice sot to speak: REBOUNDING WAR DRILL
