Okay.... Now that we know he's staying....
Green Dozer replied to agw0038's topic in Mean Green Basketball
. Yes, he stays. His son is a better than average basketball player (I have been told). so I do not see him leaving for a few years. Plus, he has a daughter that will be going to Guyer in a couple of years. Besides, we should have a good run even after Tony leaves. We will have Odoh for the next two years, and hopefully we have Chris and Jordan for the next 3. And I think Clark Overlander will be a pleasant surprise, even if it is off the bench. And believe it or not, if some people can't have their dream job, they are thankful for what they do have, and a half million dollars goes a long way in Denton, Texas. -

If Johnny does not go now, he for sure won't go next season. His son, as it stands now, goes to Guyer next year. -
My new take on it is one of 2 scenarios: 1) Johnny has told the Mitchell family that he is staying at North Texas. OR 2) The Mitchell family has been assured by RV and Johnny that should Johnny leave for LSU, then Shawn Forest would be promoted to head coach, thus minimal change for Tony as far as a coach and mentor as some have speculated. Just thinking and guessing.

Did he live in Bowling Green? Did he rent or own a home? Please be specific, somebody out there knows.

Comforting to know that as an elected official, you did not "run it" through a buddy at the police or sheriff's department as that would be against the law. This post is just weird and disrespectful even if you are chasing rental property.

Source officially confirms Aston to take over at Texas
Green Dozer replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Look, its the wins and losses that count, can't argue that. Otherwise, why keep score. But, the injury to Jasmine Godbolt really affected her to the extent she was 60% over the last part of the season. It was painful to watch her play because she was obviously in pain. She was as important to this team as any of the big 3 were to the men and it would have been a different outcome had she stayed healthy. I mean did Tony not miss Chris? Just saying. -

Fixed I think. And if all of us giving an opinion on Aston now would show up in unison at a women's game next season, attendance might double. -

How many women's games did you attend? Did you ever meet Coach Aston in person to know that she is such a self centered person? You actually think she knew she was leaving for Texas this year? From 5 wins to 15? How about the wins over Alabama, SMU, Oregon, and Arizona? This team also gave TX a scare. No, the teams we beat were not as talented as Baylor, but I don't recall any of other teams in any sport at UNT having as much OOC success in one season. As for as how this team finished, the injury bug caught up with them, and we did not have the depth to overcome it. Since you seemed to have closely followed Coach Aston from her press conference forward and were at all the home games at the pit, I am sure as an example of the injuries, you noticed Jasmine basically playing on one leg, because the bad one had to be surgically repaired at the end of the season. I guess you and I watched 2 different coaches this year. -

Ah, I think we better be looking around Denver if we are looking around at a Final Four. -

We did beat UALR on Dec. 28th here in Denton, but lost to them in Little Rock. We only lost to Middle by 2 points here. We might have won that one if Jasmine Godbolt was 100%. This team improved by having 10 more victories than last year. I believe we could be in the mix next year for the championship.

Yes they are season tix holders.

WBB: Coach Aston Fundraiser this Saturday
Green Dozer replied to Green Dozer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Thank You! -
I wanted to make you aware of an organization that Coach Aston and her staff have adopted as their charity. It is called Samaritan's Feet and they accept donations of new sneakers or money to give people both here and abroad shoes for their feet. Many colleges as well as high school coaches and even teams travel to Africa every year. So for this Saturday's game, the coaches will not be wearing shoes. If you would like to donate a pair of shoes, you can bring them to the game, even if you are just attending the men's game. If you are not attending, but wish to show your support, you can click on the link below for more information about this great cause and have an opportunity to support it with a monetary donation. Samaritan's Feet Thanks and Go Mean Green!

The Mean Green Hospitality Room will open at 11 AM, 1 hour before the men's game at noon. However, only drinks from the cooler will be served. At 3PM, the room will be open for the women's game which is at 4PM. Food will be served and will be provided by Smokehouse. *This per an e-mail from our Mean Green Club director.

Tony Mitchell NBA Draft Stock Rising
Green Dozer replied to cl_1_2008's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Let me say first I DO NOT WANT HIM TO LEAVE NOW. But if he does, I think we may get more mileage publicity wise if he goes now, unless he were to stay the whole time and be the number 1 pick. You have the storyline as: 1)it doesn't work out at Mizzu because of grade issues, 2) so he sits out a year, 3) gets his act together academically, 4) plays this past summer, 5) and finally plays this season. And 6) Leads the team to victory after we lose two starters for the season, and are also dealing with injuries. 7)Then BAM, he goes to the NBA! Pretty good story that I can hear on "Outside the Lines" on ESPN right now. LOL *I agree with what Johnny said (joking of course) on his radio show last night that Tony needs three more years of work on his game. -
