Would you prefer Texas State, UTSA, Both or Neither?
MeanGreenTeeth replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
What do you mean?!?!? This has nothing to do with turning up our nose on anyone. I have nothing against UTSA or TxState. It has nothing, nothing, nothing, to do with them. All I care about it what is good for UNT. Having to compete against 2 more Texas schools for recruits and attention is NOT GOOD FOR UNT..period. It has nothing to do with vanity. It has nothing to do with how good our program is vs. theirs. I really am completed stunned with some of the folks on here. All that matters is building this program. -

Geez. We could just join the Southland and play a bunch of Texas teams. Hell, let's just join the Lone Star conference. -

Neither. The last thing we need is to be in the same conference as one of these schools. We don't need two more Texas universities to recruit against. If we are lucky they will get stuck in the dying WAC and be forced to drop back to 1-AA. If we get to join the Alliance then I guess it would be okay for them to be in the Sunbelt (but I'd rather they be completely gone). I have nothing against either school, but I don't see how having them around helps us. -
ESPN Reporting Memphis to Big East

The C-USA/Mountain West is starting to look really really weak from a media market perspective. There is just not much population in most of these areas. I think they're going to have to risk adding some large market teams even if those teams haven't drawn well historically. I think the following teams would be the only ones considered UNT (5th largest market) San Jose State (6th largest market. Does Fresno help cover this market already?) FAU or FIU (16th largest market. No need for both) Middle Tennessee (26th largest market) Utah State (36th largest market) San Antonio (37th largest market. Hmmm....my take would be to take UNT and one of the FU's to get to 18 (move UTEP West). If 20 is possible, then I'd also add MTSU and Utah State. -

We are now "Texas A&M University - North". Update: Hey it was a joke.. a joke. No need to ruin my sterling reputation.

Kustra on Possible CUSA Replacements

Guys. You are panicking for no reason. He is only talking about possible WAC defections because he has considered putting his other sports there. He's just riffing on what that league might look like. No worries. -
Some of the road games would be awful (Reno, ugh), but I would mind excuses to go to Fort Collins, Vegas, Hawaii, and San Diego.

I'm very curious if Boise will accept. I have to imagine their non-football sports would hate to leave the MWC. I would think that they have enough leverage to request an all-sports invite, though travel would be prohibitive for the olympic sports.

Big East Invites This Weekend?
MeanGreenTeeth replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm just not sure that there is going to be much of a Big East to go to. It looks like Missouri is most likely going to the SEC. Word is BYU can't come to terms with the Big 12 which means *at least* Louisville will probably leave the Big East for the Big 12 and maybe even W. Virginia and Cincinnati. -
So..should the Belt try to get Air Force as a non-football member? It looks like the WAC would be the best for their non-football sports, but there may not be a WAC to go to.

Missouri to SEC ? ; Tulane to Big 12 ?
MeanGreenTeeth replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
To be honest, their options aren't that great. Tulane is located in fertile recruiting grounds and would definately be attractive from an academic standpoint. I don't know if they have a shot, but it's an interesting angle... -
Wow..this board has gotten a little mean-spirited. I know the guy photo-bombed your creeper photo , but still..

Nah.. Field Goal and PAT Safety. -
Shoot.. We could have zombie Knute Rockne coaching and it wouldn't matter when our o- line is being pushed backwards.

I tend to agree with this. I think by the time we get back to Sunbelt play we'll be much much better. We're playing a lot of new guys and they need time to adjust. I actually feel much better about this team than after Dodge's first game. We really just need to hope our o- line can gel.

The Southpark Meadows bars usually aren't too bad on Thursdays. Little Woodrows or 3rd Base might want to draw in a bit more business. I bet Espn3 looks lousy on a big tv though....
