Yeah.. I can't believe the NCAA would allow a school with a losing record to play in a bowl game... oh wait...

RV needs to be held accountable...

RV hires loser coach after loser coach after loser coach in sport after sport after sport. He's a great salesman, but he just can't identify, hire, or retain talent. He has to go. The state of affairs of our athletic program is abysmal and, taken as a whole, has been so for most of his tenure (and honestly has gotten worse). I have no reason to believe anything will ever get better under him. He really does need to go. -
Been to their campus. Been to their games. I live 15 minutes from there tops. I don't want them. They just don't really add anything we don't already have in the conference. Outside of the Texas Tech game they haven't drawn well. They get very little local coverage. They remind me a lot of us... just with a much smaller market. No thanks.

C'mon guys. I'm just saying a clever person could do something special with "U-La-La" and the letters "UNT". Let's go gutter people. It's the only way to reach Internet forum immortality.

You doofus. They keep stats using the metric system instead of using our imperial units. Remember: Braziallian unit x 9/5 + 32 = USA unit. This guy is a beast...- 45 replies

Heh. I did a Hitler video after we lost to FIU last year, but didn't finish the last 20 seconds or so of the video and forgot about it until now. Fun stuff. -
Okay 1. I'm deleting my previous post, as it was a little over the line in subject nature even though I was joking and I don't want to offend anyone. 2. (and this is my last post) I seriously think you have some sort of reading comprehension issue. I never said OU wasn't a power in earlier years. It obviously was, I was just trying to pick a period where they have had fairly unbroken success. I don't know if you're trolling me, or autistic, or just really bored, but I'm done.

I don't know what you want from me. I just grabbed the first 2 articles I saw. Here are a couple more. Is the Tulsa World a reputable source? Is Sports Illustrated a reputable source? I can keep doing this all day if you'd like. It doesn't really matter, I remember exactly what happened as it was all over the sports news shows at the time. http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/OU/article.aspx?subjectid=92&articleid=20111002_11_A1_CUTLIN368500 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/andy_staples/09/21/pac.12.realignment/index.html?sct=cf_t11_a1 The fact is that Oklahoma + Oklahoma State alone were not an attractive expansion option for the PAC-12. That isn't to say OU isn't a great football school, it's probably been one of the top 3 programs overall over the past 15 years. All I'm saying is that while it has a very devoted fan base (those are the folks who buy jerseys and fill up stadiums), there simply aren't enough casual fans (due to the population of the State of Oklahoma) to provide enough eyeballs on TV sets to put it in the same category as Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, etc. That's not a slam so I'm not sure why you're going all unibomber on me. I'm sure there a plenty of others who disagree with me, but nobody else is wound up about it like you.

What on earth are you talking about? Oklahama is a small market. The metroplex alone is about 75% larger than the entire state of Oklahoma. I'm not sure what profitability or football success has to do with the size of the market. I never said they didn't make a lot of money, but I don't think they bring a whole lot from a "National" TV perspective. Note that the PAC-12 rejected OU because they didn't bring enough value (at least not enough to justify bringing OSU along). I think that is pretty good empirical evidence of what value OU brings to a national television deal.

Bogus. There is no reason for teams to leave the ACC for the Big XII. True, the football is much better in the Big XII, but the ACC markets are much much better. The Big XII has UT and that is, from a $ perspective, the only big player it has. UT is doing okay for itself so has no reason to leave, but I see no reason for ACC schools to join a bunch of small market teams. Remember, this is all about $$$, not sports...

Soo... if by chance the Alliance isn't dead this gets it to 24 teams. I assume that means 4 6-team pods. Anyone want to take a guess on how that would shake out?
-
You know...I'm not saying we should do this..but the big market teams from the MWC and CUSA could ditch their respective leagues and reform in the WAC. That way you could have the television $ of the Alliance with a smaller number of schools. You'd be stuck with Idaho and NMSU, but UNT, UTEP, UTSA, Colorado State, Fresno State, UNLV, Utah State, Rice, Air Force, FIU, Tulane, Marshall, and ECU would all bring some decent markets in theory. Small market schools like Wyoming, Nevada, Louisiana Tech, and UAB could effectively be dropped. Again, not saying I would like to do this, but just food for thought.

It'd be a tough call to be in his position. I'd probably wait another year if I had good odds to be a top 5 pick, but the thought of injury would weigh heavy on my mind.

So how do the guarantees work in the NBA? What would the difference likely be if he were a mid 1st round pick next year?
