  1. I'm glad they get to stay in town. They have earned a chance to enjoy an evening in New Orleans. I was talking to someone after the game and we thought it was a bad idea to have them hope on the plane without a little time off. They all represented us well (players, band, etc.), and I couldn't have been more proud to be a North Texas fan today. From New Orleans, Lee
  2. I am almost sure that there was a referendum to pick the new name in 1983 when I was a freshman (but I am getting old, so maybe I'm just imagining it!). By the way, I would NEVER vote for the name Eppy.
  3. I'm sorry that they feel that way. I'm sure they won't lose to us by that much.
  4. I predict same result, different way to get there. Memphis misses a half-court shot at the buzzer -- NT wins by 1.
  5. I received an e-mail to contact the Ticket Office by Wednesday (today) to confirm whether or not I wanted 2nd round tickets should (when!) we advance. I already called to confirm. Just thought others might want to know this in case they hadn't checked their e-mail (I assume this went out to all 1st round ticket purchasers).
  6. JJ was also on NBC5, and Ch. 4 ran a nice story about us and selection, as well as a LONG story about Avery Johnson and us on the 10pm sports show.
  7. The Athletic Center is located on Bonnie Brae, south of I-35 and next to Victory Hall (on the former UNT golf course)
  8. That was a weird play - throw the ball the length of the court? It almost backfired, but they managed to survive and pull out the win (How come their postgame celebration gets air time!)
  9. I'm glad someone was paying attention!
  10. Tight game. I hope the Aggies win.
  11. Me and my two boys wouldn't miss it for the world!
  12. I thought students got all the "general" mail that goes to everyone on campus. I got a "general" e-mail yesterday evening in Groupwise about the event. I've seen others complaining about getting everything else in their "official mailbox" that goes to that same list.
  13. My understanding is that the school is given an allotment to sell.
  14. If you looked at the Ch. 8 video, they never really focused on the crowd at all. I saw only one of their shots that really included any of the crowd, and it just caught one edge. The majority of the people there are never shown in the copter shot.
  15. Last night's game was awesome. I was so nervous that ASU was suddenly going to get hot, but our guys just kept in there and took control at the end. Can't wait to see what happens from here on out! Congrats Mean Green!
  16. That was pretty great! By the way, my son was one of the Musical Chair contestants. He was the smallest one (the second one eliminated).
  17. I sent the TxDOT form in to Austin in early January. When I went into the Tax Office here in Denton in mid-Feb, they were waiting (apparently I was supposed to get a confirmation letter from Austin, but I never did -- so I don't know exactly how long it normally takes. I think the form says 3-4 weeks).
  18. Just received mine about 2 weeks ago. Also just took whatever letter/number combination they gave me. BTW, you can trade in old tags anytime as well. My tags were only 1 year old, so I just timed the new tags for the renewal at 1 year in order to avoid prorating. But you can do it at any time.
  19. Great post, Scott.
  20. Sorry - but have to inject a little truth here. The waterpark pays for itself and actually makes a little money. The Natatorium (built jointly by the City and Denton ISD) does not pay for itself and was never expected to do so. As for timelines, I believe it is entirely possible to get the stadium built by 2009 if construction started by the fall. The current plans for the new Life Science complex (expected to be built on the current site of Masters Hall) would begin construction in fall and be ready for occupancy in Sept. 2009. I would imagine that a science building is more complicated to build than a stadium, so 2009 sounds very possible.
  21. I wonder how my personal finances would look if I used that philosophy! I am very glad that the UNT administration didn't use this as their criteria for determining the future of the program. The WAC of today is a glorified Big West. Having survived that once, I don't want to go backward. Except for the Hawaii tie-in, there really are no positives in that conference for us. The negatives (poor publicity being at the top of the list since our football scores and stories would not make it into local papers until Monday and would always miss the TV news for away games just like when we were in the Big West) clearly make that a bad idea.
  22. I've always thought that the Mitchell/Pampa/NT connection was pretty cool. I didn't find out about it until long after I was here. By the way, in the Dateline show, my sister is in one of the shots (she's next to the Cavalier family in the church).
  23. Anybody catch the NBC Dateline this evening. The topic was HS football in Texas and featured my alma mater, the Pampa Harvesters.
  24. Congratulations Troy! Way to represent to the Belt. Dominating win.
  25. 7pm, Fox Sports SW
