  1. SO, Mattress Mac has a promotion that if you buy over $3000 worth of furniture and/or electronics and take possession before noon on Sunday and the Texans beat the Colts, it is free. According to the commercial. That shows how much faith there is in the Texans. But, anything can happen on any given Sunday...
  2. Funny that there is still several 0-2 teams ranked higher than us and we are 1-1 ...
  3. Look ... they have a logo on their helmet!! I guess Lousiana-Monroe is too long for a script...
  4. I was happy to see that FSN was using our new logo and font for the UT telecast. I thought it looked really good across from the longhorn logo. Not sure I like the North Texas script in new font along with it, but it still worked and looked a hell of alot better than the old crap they were using.
  5. Good drive overall. Great drive by Jamario and Brandon Jackson made some great catches. I'm becoming a Wilson fan fast. Seems much more comfortable and confident at QB. He's controlling the team at the line of scrimmage.
  6. All white with green helmet. I like it. I'm not a fan of the pants and jersey being mixed colors. What about the logo? The son of worm has grown on me and I'd much rather see that on the helmet instead of text. Too much going on up there. Even the USPS eagle head would look better in my opinion. Ofcourse, could bring back the script!
  7. I can see the scene now ... yellow tape to rope off the crime scene and a chalk outline of the squirrel. One day, it might make it as a storyline on the Law and Order series.
  8. Rule #76: No excuses. Play like a champion!
  9. So Dallas and Ft. Worth make the top 5 list. Sucks that I live in Houston now! Men's Health: 5 Cities with the Most Beautiful Women Ft. Worth listed as #2 ... Hey FFR, you guys got any openings ... I need to relocate!
  10. That was an incredibly horrible game by the US. Did they forget they were wearing blue and not white?? Did they have jet lag too, because they didn't seem to be running at all. Atleast Johnson starting taking some shots from outside 18. Tough break for Reyna's shot off the post. Just an inch or two more inside and it would have glanced in. The Czech that took down our guy on the breakaway should have gotten a red. It was just him and the keeper once he got around that guy. Bad judgement by the ref and a whole different game playing with 10 and not 11. But, doesn't matter. The way the US played, they didn't act like they wanted it. Now, they're really in a hole. They have to win out to even have a chance at winning this group. If they aren't first, then they will play Brazil in the next level and our chances of winning that one will be pretty low...
  11. Good story, but an urban legend. But the origins of Taps is listed on this link. Taps origin - urban legend link I have two buddies about to be sent to Iraq in a couple months. One is an Apache pilot and will most likely see action. It takes a whole new meaning when you're close to someone actually going over there. It's hard to put into words our appreciation of these men and women, but I never miss a chance to say thankyou.
  12. Or Silverson...
  13. Congratz! Good luck in the academy!
  14. A little off topic from football ... but I am riding the BP MS 150 Bike Tour on April 22-23. It is a 2 day, 180 mile tour from Houston to Austin through the Texas Hill Country. This will be my first attempt and the training over the last couple months has been intense, but actually a lot of fun too. The ride benefits the National MS Society. So, I'd like to ask if anyone is willing to support the cause? You can make a fast, easy and secure online donation by following this link: Online donation. The donation will be linked to me as the rider. Any support is appreciated and it is a great cause. You can read more about the National MS Society at National MS Society Website. You can read more about the BP MS 150 Bike Tour at BP MS 150 Bike Tour Website. Thanks again! Joey
  15. I so distintly remember late September 2004 ... half time at the Baylor game at Baylor. I had cut may vacation short along with my parents, drove three, four plus hours from Gavleston to watch the game. The first half was suspensful. But then, at half time, the team returned to the field. They had to run out in front of the mean green faithful (as vistors) along the stands in front of us. They meandered. They didn't look up and didn't acknowledge us. They walked onto the field in defiance admist a section full of fans trying to yell like crazy and fire them up. But yet, no emotion from the team. NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT! That has been a turning point for me listening to the debates here at GMG.com. I've read about them leaving the field and not stopping to acknowledge fans/band playing our alma mater, Coach Dickey's antics, Ramon Flannigan attacking SilverEagle. The bunker mentality of us against them takes it toll. I am a new fan that came back around the 2002 season because I thought athletics was being taken seriously around NT and progress was to be made. To me, this type of attitude starts from the top and trickles down. If the coaches/administration deem it so, the players will pick it up and reciprocate it. Say what you want. I'm getting turned off and that fustrates me. I want to support this program. I live in Houston, so I not only give to the MGC, I drive 5 hours + to see any type of event in person. I listen to radio when I can, but it is a meager constitute. I want an administration and coaching staff that excites me. The bowl games gave me that to some extent. Not only in our down year, but also our "successful" years, I still see the effects mentioned. I've kept an open mind, but I freakin' would rather hear, "There are those f'ers that will feed ya and will then call you losers and cupcakes, but there are those that really care about this program and university as a whole. Those are the people you are sweating, sacrificing, and playing for. Go out and make them proud of their University. Give them one more reason they can walk into work on Monday morning and say, 'how about them Mean Green?!', 'How about North F'n Texas!!'" That is the attitude I want this program to portray in undebateable manner for me to consider being the donor and fan I was and can be.
  16. Anyone know of any NT cycling jerseys? I've gotten into cycling and have no idea where to look.
  17. Agreed ... could also make the football part of the logo look more like an eye ...
  18. blah blah blah ... I am drunk ... but like I said ... blah blah blah
  19. This sets up this question in which I am interested hearing your feedback. IF, I mean IF, DD devises the game plan that knocks off UT, would it suffice to say that same game plan could pretty much do it for the rest of our games? If the answer is yes ... then I'd be spending every minute doing so. But seriously, our defense still doesn't match well at all. Can our corners or safeties cover that 6'5 WR named Snead or Sweed or something like that? He'd just have to put his hands in the air above his head to catch the ball over our leaping 5'10 guy. Nice to have those targets as a freshman QB without any pressure coming at him from the DL. If I remember correctly, their 2nd and 3rd string players were walking up and down the field on us last time. This would make those guys the juniors/seniors now? BUT, it would be sweet justice for FFR and some others that suffered through the '88 fiasco for UT to eat some humble pie next September. I just want to see our guys go out fighting and keep fighting with the coach giving them their best shot. I will not be able to handle another 65-0 loss.
  20. The only thing I could think about during the entire UT v USC game was "are they gonna review that too?" The amount of reviews really slowed this game down. The last review where it was obvious the UT receiver was down was pathetic. I could hear Mac Brown saying, "thanks for the time out". I don't think it really affected the outcome of the game though.
  21. Get a burnt orange t-shirt and screen print the son of worm on it! Problem solved!
  22. Thanks Rick. It's kinda cool to see some of my pictures in print. Funny thing about the whole deal is that the North Texan contacted me after someone told them they had read it on GMG.com.
  23. Hey Peter, watch out for your cornhole buddy.
