  1. Happy birthday Rick! Stay safe...
  2. I will not be able to make it this time either. Headed to South Texas on a free deer hunt. Can't pass it up.
  3. 99 -- I like that avatar. Helmet does look good with SoW!
  4. That didn't happen at SLC and I don't see that happening here. I think it will work out like this. When Rodge gets here, I believe he will be dedicated to QB position. 1. Vizza plays some of this year as he has. Will he ever take over starting job? Dunno, but I think if Dodge is going to let that happen, it will be during SBC games. But from the sound of things, Meager is still number one. 2. Next year, Rodge redshirts. period. Meager and Vizza battle it out. Vizza has some experience and has had time to develop. Watch out Meager. 3. Meager graduates. Vizza gets the nod. Rodge is backup getting some time. Possibility that Rodge takes over.. 4. Vizza is starter until graduates. 5. Rodge is now the man with two full years to lead this team. Many years ahead of some good talent at QB. We have some good WRs and have recruited several more. We need to focus on some beef on the lines!
  5. I thought this would have sparked a whole new stadium thread ... amazing how many different numbers are thrown around ...
  6. Prayers to you and your family, GB. It's been hard not being there for the games. Thanks to Hope and MedPilot for the text updates!!! haha
  7. Not sure. Maybe ESPN or CSTV has the game tracker. I'm listening to it on the radio and about to have to leave for a b-day thing. BLAH. No radio most likelyneither. BLAH BLAH!
  8. NM!
  9. They just need their tackling fuel ... visualize and attack! ... Gaaaaaatorade!Gaaaaatorade!Water SUCKS,it really really sucks! Coach Dodge : Maurice, can you do that for me every game? Maurice : Coach, not only will I do it for you, I... I... I... yes, yes, I'll do it for you. FFR : YOU CAN DO IT! CUT HIS F'N HEAD OFF!
  10. It was points allowed per game ... we've allowed 62.
  11. I've waited to post since our games, because it has taken a bit for the Kool-Aid to flush so I didn't post irrationally. OU was a disaster. But SMU was a marked improvement. SMU got the upper hand on us starting around mid 2nd quarter and through the 3rd. Then the D stiffened and gave our offense a chance to get back in the game. Which they did with a couple great drives. Then the O coughed up the ball and the D didn't hold. Important to note that the D only had 1 chance to do anything with those last 2 interceptions. One of them was returned. Those last couple of series was all on the offense. How demoralizing on D is it to force the turnover, just to let the offense give it right back within a couple plays! Seems that we haven't changed so much in time of posession. Anyone know what the avg points per game did the D give up last year? Doesn't seem we've changed all that much. 12 missed tackles that resulted in around 187 yards of SMU offense. Make those tackles and now we have a different ball game. The players are just as responsible. let's see how they are coached over the next couple weeks in the FAU game. Also, I noticed on the replays of the game. This has been mentioned several times and I agree. Almost everyone of those replays the receiver had to adjust for the ball and at times nearly had to stop. Not just the long ball. There was one over the middle ... wide open receiver ... had to stop, catch and immediately dive for the TD. Could have just walked in. Meager did some good stuff, but he still has to work on efficiency. I saw a lot of wobbly throws. Kuddos to Danny for breaking the record and leading the team to several excellent drives. But, there is room for improvement. To his credit, it did appear he was hurried quite a bit. The line held better though and maybe with this game, they all gained some confidence/trust and gelled a little.
  12. I was in a bar in san fran when they took the lead in the last minutes/seconds, whatever. Fun times. Good party. Just got to the hotel (as I type from the bars) and saw this about SF. Sorry if it sounds like a drunk guy typed this ... because i am definitely drunk.
  13. Saweeet! Me gusto mucho!
  14. Interesting comment ... how good they got it NOW. I love the attitude.
  15. I'm looking forward to a team taking the field who has been coached to come and play. A team that is going to leave it all out on the field, be competitive, and make us proud. I want to see this team bring back the MEAN! Beat the Hell out of OU!! Hey Stoops! DUCK!
  16. Gonna be at the deer lease. Plan on driving into Nacadogches to watch if I can find a good sports bar to watch it.
  17. I have a feeling that things changed when Rodge switched his commitment. Now, what do you do? I think we are in a good position. Meager kicks it up to a notch we didn't know he had and wows us. Vizza has time to learn. Backup ... no redshirt? Meager does ok, but Vizza comes in and wows us or hangs with Meager. Go with Vizza and get him some good experience this year. Meager backup next two years. Either way, next year, we redshirt Rodge and his freshman/sophmore years are as back up and gaining experience. Then we have him as starter for atleast 2 years. Hopefully we have a new stud in the works and we keep this rotation. Then again, he could come in and take the job from Vizza/Meager. Either way, light at the end of the tunnel. I agree with Greek. It is hard to have faith in Meager. Maybe it is because of the system. There were several issues that remained constant between the QBs that can easily be tracked back to the coaching. But, the other QBs were in the same boat and it seems they did more, made more happen. I would love it if he came in in the fall and just blows everyone away. Atleast he knows this year he can win it outright and there will be no rotation. If he has the talent, I believe Todge can exploit it. I do believe he's earned a chance under Todge after dealing with the last regime. But like Greek said, he's gonna have to prove it to me. More importantly, he's gonna have to prove it to the person that counts the most ... Todge.
  18. FireFightnRick == John Madden
  19. Helmet with Script == longest conference winning streak, 4 conference championships, 4 bowl games, 1 bowl win, 2 national rushing titles Helmet X == 5 wins in two seasons. Tied for last in the conference. 110+ ranked everthing* * estimated ranking So, either bring back the script or lets try SoW. Just not the same block letters that all I can do is associate failure! BTW FFR, if you paint your helmet white, do we have to call you Chief FFR???
  20. Ooops. I meant to spell it right ... accelerant
  21. Where do I start?! Everyone should be pi$$ed if this was an act of arson. Nothing poetic or symbolic about it. Arson not only inflicts structure/dollar damage to adjacent structures, etc. (Car), but it places many lives in danger. Who knew who was inside that building or an adjacent building? What about bystanders and all the down power lines? And the one no one ever considers, the lives of the firefighters who are at risk to contain the fire and remove the threat? If a firefighter or emergency worker is injured during the course of a fire started by arson, the criminal is responsible and the charges just got real bad, as in murder. I don't know what the exact charge is offhand, but that is the jest of it. Apparently the fire was reported by a police officer driving by according to the news story after the fire had progressed to the point that flames were visible outside the structure. Looking at the video, I doubt this started from a molitov cocktail. It looks like all the flames were within the structure walls. Unless they threw the coctail inside, it would have ignited the outside of the structure wall and burned outside - in. But in the video, the outer walls are still standing. But, the fire happens the night before it is to be demolished and probably empty. Yea, arson. Doesn't get more suspicious than that! I'm sure some type of excellerant was most likely used. That was one helluva fire. I'm glad no one was hurt. On a fire like that, we would go defensive and contain the fire. But we would still make an aggressive attack in areas trying to protect the adjacent exposures.
  22. So, I just read an article in the last or next to last SI (boxing cover). The sport of women's flag football is being played under UIL in Florida and Alaska and gaining a lot of support and growing like crazy. So much that the traditional sports of track and softball are not drawing as many at the schools that offer flag football in the spring. The QB in the picture was pretty hot too. In the article, a statement from one girl is that she got so into it that she picked another girl up and slammed her to the ground. She just got into the competitive moment! That made me ask... Why not just let the girls play contact football and give them pads? They are playing against their own, let 'em get after it. Is it just a social barrier, expense of buying equipment, etc.? Or would it be plain boring? They would probably draw just as many at a track event or softball event. Figured I could get plenty of opinions from this board on the subject. Fire away! Personally, I could go for some girl on girl football!
  23. I love the North Texas chant, but agree it needs to start and end in force. The student body has to yell NORTH about 3-4 times before the majority of the alumni get involved. There in lies your problem, when should it end? if you say 5 iterations, well by the time the alumni get going with it, it's done. Blah. It'd be great if the students could start a "intro" of some sort. Maybe even just a long "heeeeeeeeeeeeeey". Don't ask me, but something specific that identifies this yell. So that when the alumni hear it, we know the chant is starting. Plus it gets all the students ready. It would sound like a low buzz that accumulates into a loud roar and then they start NORTH! (again, requires organization from cheerleaders or Talons). Then the chant would go, let's say 5 iterations and we could end it with "FIGHT" in unison. Even better, end it with consecutive "FIGHT"s. And, yes, I don't care if it seems like a rip off of Texas. Farmers Fight is no different than Texas Fight or North Texas. I recall three years ago when we played Texas just after Andrew's death. At the beginning when our fans still had an inkling of hope for a good game, the stadium started Texas Fight. Our small section started yelling North when the stadium yelled Fight to have our own NORTH-TEXAS chant. It actually worked out well and received a lot of attention. Plus it pissed off a bunch of Texas fans and that makes it all worth while. Point -- versatility. And we when go to bowl games, we need to let everyone know to just yell the whole thing together instead of students vs alumni. Sounds dorky because no one knows what to do! And if you really want to be original with the new era ... we could replace the NORTH-TEXAS chant with DODGE-BALL and end it with DUCK! in unison. Haha
  24. Emmitt, your family(s) are in our prayers. Well said JayDub. 9/11 - Never Forget
  25. Exactly ... I didn't even notice the pom poms. I can hardly get past the blond on first row, second from right.
