Plus you can check the National Hurricane Center. The path has it set for Galveston/Houston right now, but that could change every 12 hours or so. Just like the last two or three, I'm betting it turns last minute and devastates LA again. Being played at Texas Stadium is probably almost a reality. LSU can't afford to lose the revenue for this game. The area will probably be evacuated to Dallas anyway. National Hurricane Center - Hurricane IKE

If UAB can put up 400+ yards on this team, we better...if our offense can put it together for this week. Hope they got the jitters out of their system. No more dropped balls. But they are playing at home and I think our guys are ready to be winners. I think our offense will come out clicking on all cylinders and this is the perfect time for GDs D to make a splash. Royce Hill, this is your chance to be a star! This game has a chance of being a blowout, but I think it is going to be closer than anyone wants to give it credit. If not, then Dodge may not be the savior we thought he'd be. But, I have faith. Now on Satruday night I might be back and calling for a recount.

Only Thing Worse Than Unt Football Is Unt's "fans"
FireFightnJoey replied to new2NT's topic in Mean Green Football
What the heck is a golden hurricane anyway? Similar to the shower? Why in the world would a university in OK moniker themselves with hurricane ... maybe golden tornado or something? -
There were several games that were not aired. Instead, I tuned in and it was a high school game or something. So don't always hold your breath. I tend to listen directly from KNTU.

Well, since alot of folks will be traveling to the game and it is tomorrow.... NORTH

Cole Feature: He Played In H.s. Band At Ksu
FireFightnJoey replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
It seems that everytime I read an article about a player at the first of the year, they talk about how excited they are to play the big boys. The statements go something like "I always wanted to play against xyz" and "I always wanted to play on this type of stage in front of 60k+ fans". So, if we were to change our philospohy and quit playing "money" games, would this affect recruiting? After all this time, has this served as a secondary recruiting tool? So two benefits = money + recruiting? I agree though that the money games have really biten us in the behind. It would be nice to see us schedule lower Big 12 / SEC, etc., instead of the freaking national champions every year! Maybe we have the tools (Todge + DeLoach) to recruit and coach us to solid performances and wins against these money games in the near future? -
It's amazing how many nicknames Mean Joe Green started ...

It is quite a distance. Atleast 30-40 minute drive. I live on the NW side of town about 10 minutes from the track. Can't wait for the game!

I Was Out In Vegas This Weekend ...
FireFightnJoey replied to FireFightnJoey's topic in Mean Green Football
Hey RadioGreen ... congratz to you as well!! That's a great picture. I'll try to post one of ours with Elvis once I can download them. MedPilot, yes, the trip will be a bit different! But, I definitely married my counterpart. I can't wait to take her to a NOLA Bowl! JayDub, how is your Elvis impression? Everyone else, thanks! -
I wanted to let all of my friends on this board know that I tied the knot this weekend! Yep, got married. Long story short, we have a ceremony in Mexico planned with family and friends on 8/8/08. But, the easy route is to get the legal side of it done here in the states before going. So, I took my fiance to Vegas this weekend as a suprise for her 30th bday and we got married at the Graceland Chapel. A special thanks goes out to Elvis. Due to all of my money going to wedding expenses, I am not going to be able to buy season tickets and renew my MGC. But I'll be back in next year. I will be at the Rice game for sure since it is here in Houston and I plan to make atleast one home game this year. Hopefully I can throw a few more home games in there depending on how things go. My wife's name is Kim which I do not think any of you have met yet. Soon enough. She's excited to make a couple games. And yes, she thinks I have an addiction to this board.

I just checked the blog and it has been corrected to say North Texas and not Texas State. I wonder how many emails he received today ...

Here's My Starting Defense As Things Stand Today
FireFightnJoey replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
This is everyone's first year in a new defense, Deloach's. I think the transfers will have plenty of chances to take the starting spot. Pretty much leveled everyone to the same playing field. My wish is to see the drastic improvement in the defense this year that we did in the offense last year. That will equal success in my books for this year and my expectations will be much higher next. -

The Spirit Of The Mean Green!
FireFightnJoey replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Great pics. My grandparents use to live off 377 just at the bridge leading into Tioga. Their house was right next to the boat ramp at Buck Creek access point. I've done some good crappie fishing on that lake and the creeks nearby that area. Some really good times with my granddad and family. They've since moved closer to the family, but good memories of that area and lake. -
I watched the entire game at Buffalo Wild Wings here in Houston on CBS until the 8 minute mark. We had to leave then I watched the last minute when I got home. Just in time for the best part!

That was an awesome shot! Congratz Hilltoppers! Way to represent the Belt!

I've stayed many times at the Renaissance Hotel - Greenway Plaza which is a mile or two away for events in that area. I live on the NW side of Houston, so we stay down there for Rodeo events and stuff like that. There is plenty of shopping, restaruants, bars in Rice Village which is not far from the stadium. There is plenty of places to go in that area. Around the 59/Kirby area are many trendy clubs and good restaraunts. You are not far from the Galleria (610/59 ish), the heights, midtown or downtown. So there is plenty to do for this trip. We should get the exes to host some nightly events around town and make it like a mini-NOLA bowl. I'm really looking forward to this game. Finally a game that I can wake up and drive across town to attend!

I guess there might just be a high enough fuel load in the bathrooms to sustain enough fire/heat to weaken the tensile strength of the concrete to get some spalling and collapse. Just need enough in the right places... Although it might be more likely the gases in the bathroom will cause an explosion and blow out a good chunk of the stadium.
