  1. Hey - the spread is down to 36 points now - someone in Vegas must really like the Mean Green!!! 'Bama -- 37 Good Guys -- 13
  2. Mostly, I think the DB just made a good play on the ball (the pick-6 INT). After a week of practice / game planning, I think Tune will do fine. I was impressed by his arm strength, and it seems that more than one GMG poster noticed in Spring/Fall drills that Tune throws the best deep ball of all our QB's. Maybe the game plan changes a bit and we stretch the field more with Tune than with Riley. The running game will be interesting, 'cause Tune really isn't a threat to run. It will be interesting to see how Dodge can get the RB's involved without relying quite so heavy on the QB option read. Riley really freezes the LB's with the option read because they have to respect his ability to run.
  3. Definitely - most of us would have given our left nut to see our team 1-1 at this point - and competitive in every game. One of Dodge's main things to figure out at this point is how to not leave so many points on the field when we are 5 yards or less from the end zone. This has happened too many times in our first 2 games - but should be a problem that can be solved (maybe some tight end formations with a TE coming across the goal line on a QB sprint out?). Hoping for good news tomorrow with Riley and Kelvin Jackson.
  4. Yes, we lost a heartbreaker and sustained a couple of key injuries that hopefully are not long-lasting. But... I'm still very proud of this team! They got smacked in chin, lost a lead, and came back to almost win the game against a pretty good bunch from Ohio. This is a much different team that we've seen the past few years that would likely have folded in the same situation. We did make some key mistakes, but let's be honest - Ohio also made some key mistakes that helped keep the game tight. They missed a wide-open receiver in the South end zone (most QB's won't miss that pass) - and they set us up with that last TD in the 2nd overtime with a really bad personal foul penalty. They had some skill players that came through in the 2nd half. I'm 50/50 on that Tune interception - probably shouldn't throw that ball, but the defender made a heck of a jump on the pass. Tune's remaining passes looked really sharp. Mostly, I hope we get healthy before the MTSU game - and that the weather cooperates!!!
  5. Yes, I think they got it right - hard to argue against 4 consecutive conference championships. At least our Golden Years occurred in this century. Some programs like Vanderbilt and Tulane have go go back into the 1920's for their claims to fame :-)
  6. 13-0 You forgot our bowl victory...
  7. I expect that the defense will certainly improve over last year, but I think improvement in the offense will be the key. The defense will look better when the offense can get a couple of first downs and not turn the ball over (and we don't start at our own 10 yard line over and over). We had 33 turnovers last year according to MGS 2008 stats - and we forced 16 turnovers. The main thing I want to see from Riley is accuracy and very few interceptions/fumbles. Improving on turnovers and getting better on special teams will make such a huge difference. Riley doesn't need to have Graham Harrell numbers - just make good decisions and deliver the ball to open receivers.
  8. I would also be interested in a watching party from the South Side if anyone knows of a gathering. Otherwise I'll probably head up to F&H at Midway in Dallas - who else will be at F&H? Would love to get up to the Pourhouse but would be tough on a Thur night.
  9. A sold-out Ford stadium on hand to watch SFA upset the ponies - now *that* would be cool!
  10. Wow - that was fun watching Troy's #14 run through our defense like we were just standing still... Can't wait for the return of the true Mean Green Defense!!!
  11. Also Under. I think Cam will be right at the 1,000 yard mark - Second Team All SBC. I think Lance Dunbar and Riley could both go for 300+ yards.
  12. Is the 1977 figure really true - that we averaged 19,599 at Fouts (capacity 20,000 at that time)? If so, then every game was basically a sellout? Given our poor records over the past 4 years, our average attendance hasn't been too bad (I think maybe around 17,500 over the past 4 years)?
  13. Set 'em up Joe and keep drinking the Green Kool-Aid!! I'm predicting 1-3 OOC but 5-8 overall - we'll be better this year in SBC play with victories over WKentucky, MUTS, Ul-Monroe, and Fla Atl (yes, we'll win Homecoming this year)
  14. I never drink the Kool Aid behind a wheel - but I drink plenty of it while logged into GMG.com!!! BTW - we will beat Ball State
  15. Yeah, that definitely caught my eye... North Texas over Troy (OT) A sign of things to come?
  16. Did we just get called 5-year olds? This is going too far - must report this thread immediately
  17. Now that's what I call "glass half full"
  18. Here we go! 9-3 @ Ball St LOSS 9-12 Ohio WIN 9-19 @ Alabama LOSS 9-26 ?????? 10-3 MTSU WIN 10-10 @ ULL WIN 10-17 ULM??? WIN 10-24 @ Troy LOSS 10-31 WKU WIN 11-7 FAU WIN 11-14 @ FIU LOSS 11-21 Army WIN 11-28 @ ASU WIN
  19. Interesting number - because I would have guesstimated 8,000 just thinking about our average attendance during the I-AA days. Although, I attended multiple games during those days where I swear we had less than 1,500 in Fouts. If nothing else, we've certainly come quite a ways with our average attendance.
  20. Easily #92 - Booger Kennedy - watching him blow through double-teams like he was going up against high-school kids. Those were some good times...
  21. My luxury suite costs 19 million - that's probably where Vito got his number... Y'all can come party in the suite though.
  22. The folks at Scout.com are obviously dyslexic - I'm sure they meant "9-3" for the Mean Green
  23. True dat! If you think UNT has a lack of school spirit, take a stroll down the TSU or UTSA campuses and notice all of the UT and A&M garb being worn. It will remind you of the North Texas State University student body circa 1985. Somehow - Someway - we've been able to build some semblance of campus spirit at UNT.
